About
We're still waiting for Valve to officially verify Scarlet Deer Inn, but we designed the game to work well on it.
ABOUT
Scarlet Deer Inn is an embroidered dark medieval folk tale. While life in a seemingly ordinary village is all about simple chores and idle gossip, sinister secrets hide below.

Beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and traditional animations crafted from physically embroidered frames.
A world filled with colourful characters.
Hidden shortcuts in the dark that make each playthrough easier.
Folk music inspired by the Middle Ages and performed on traditional instruments.
THE STORY
Elise is a mother of two. She is not exactly extraordinary, and there are no heroic epics written about her.
Her circumstances will force her to explore unusual places and face dark, terrifying situations.
THE TEAM
Attu Games is a husband-and-wife team from the Czech Republic. During the development of Scarlet Deer Inn, their duo expanded into a trio with the birth of their baby, bringing a whole new level of chaos to the process.

Finished the game and, as much I hate to say it, I found it tedious, boring, and maze-like. Tags like "narrative" "story rich" "emotional" "mystery" and "exploration" got me interested in the game, but the narrative is very bare bones and not well fleshed out. The plot is simple: the protagonist needs to save her children. The vast majority of the game takes place in a series of repetitive caves and tunnels, with simple platform mechanics, no music (except during chase sequences), and gets very maze like as the game loops back upon itself over and over. You barely explore the town or interact with its residents, who are simple one note characters, except for when you are doing a series of basic fetch quests. If you're interested in this game because of the Pentiment type vibes: don't be. It's not a visual novel, there is no interesting mystery to solve, you will not get to know or care about any characters. It's ... it's really "just" a platformer. If you like platformers though, you may enjoy the experience, which has a lovely art style and some cool music that really fits the vibes, and the devs have already fixed the few reported bugs. It's clearly a labor of love, but it just wasn't for me.

Really want to like this game, and at first I was into it. Talking to the villagers, learning about the characters. Then your dropped into the dungeon, and it barely has anything to do with the story. When I got back out, I think I went back I by accident. When I got back out Again! I was handed a fetch Quest that fractured into multiple fetch quests! These fetch quests didn't have much to them and I felt like I was following a script completing them. I found a key, guessed the place I needed it. But that place told me I needed the key! Had to go back and get the key again. Kinda the strain that broke the camel's back for me
I really liked the game, I hope that they will continue to explore this story in the future

I could sit here and spend so many hours talking about how much enjoyment I got from playing this game, but I'll keep this analysis short! Artstyle? Gorgeous, such an innovative idea of embroyding the characters design and movement and then scan it to the pc! Gameplay? Very fluid, definitely a game you play with a controler, much more fun and easy to perform certain movements than with Keyboard/Mouse Boss Fight? My god, did I want to throw my controller to the sky and curse at the world, 10/10 The ending? SPECHLESS! Bonus points for having the option to pet various animals! Overall, loved the game, so much creativity and love was clearly put into it, I couldn't stop playing it once I picked it up!
I finished the game after 4 hours. Gotta say, for a game called Scarlet Deer Inn there is nothing much to do at the Inn itself. I thought it was an Inn management game with nice art style and ended up with a kind of horror game. I will give it a thumbs up for the art style and the music though.
