SAS: Zombie Assault 4 is a cooperative action title developed and published by Ninja Kiwi that successfully combines science-fiction aesthetics with the relentless appeal of zombie survival gameplay. Released on Steam after building an audience on other platforms, the game throws players into a distant future where humanity is battling a devastating infection that has spread throughout colonies and research facilities across space. Instead of emphasizing cinematic storytelling, SAS: Zombie Assault 4 focuses on giving players a constant stream of enemies, rewarding progression systems, and enough equipment customization to keep them invested for dozens, if not hundreds, of hours. The foundation of the experience is its class-based design. Players can select from multiple combat roles, each tailored toward a specific approach to survival. Some excel at keeping allies alive, while others are built around heavy damage output or defensive capabilities. As missions are completed, experience points unlock skills that significantly alter how each class performs. This system adds a welcome layer of strategy, especially during multiplayer sessions where balanced team compositions can mean the difference between success and being overwhelmed by an endless wave of infected creatures. The progression system is one of the game's strongest elements, as every completed mission feels like a meaningful step toward obtaining more powerful gear and abilities. Combat is where SAS: Zombie Assault 4 shines brightest. The game embraces chaos, filling maps with hordes of enemies that range from common infected to massive mutants capable of wiping out unprepared teams. Weapons feel varied enough to encourage experimentation, with players gaining access to everything from conventional firearms to futuristic energy-based equipment. Loot drops and equipment rarity further enhance the experience by creating a satisfying cycle of fighting, collecting, upgrading, and repeating. There is a constant sense of advancement that makes even familiar missions feel worthwhile, particularly when chasing rare items or optimizing a character build for higher difficulties. The game's futuristic setting helps distinguish it from the crowded zombie genre. Rather than abandoned suburbs and ruined cities, players explore laboratories, military installations, and remote colonies that hint at a larger conflict taking place across humanity's remaining settlements. While the narrative remains secondary to the action, environmental details and enemy designs contribute to the feeling that players are participating in a desperate struggle against an infection that has evolved beyond control. The science-fiction presentation also allows the developers to introduce increasingly bizarre enemy types without feeling out of place. Visually, SAS: Zombie Assault 4 is modest by today's standards. Its origins are apparent in the relatively simple environments and character models, but the art direction prioritizes clarity over spectacle. This decision proves beneficial during intense firefights, as players can easily track enemies, projectiles, and teammates amidst the chaos. The game's low system requirements are another advantage, making it accessible to a broad audience regardless of hardware limitations. Combined with a fitting soundtrack and impactful sound effects, the presentation remains effective even if it lacks the technical polish of more recent releases. However, the game is not without flaws. Its free-to-play structure introduces a noticeable grind, especially during the later stages when acquiring top-tier equipment becomes increasingly time-consuming. Mission variety can also become repetitive after extended play sessions, with objectives often revolving around surviving waves or eliminating all threats in a designated area. Additionally, while the multiplayer community remains active enough to support matchmaking, finding ideal groups may occasionally require patience depending on the region and time of day. Despite these shortcomings, SAS: Zombie Assault 4 continues to be an entertaining cooperative shooter because it understands its audience. It offers accessible gameplay, meaningful progression, extensive customization, and the simple satisfaction of surviving impossible odds alongside friends. Ninja Kiwi may be best known for other franchises, but this title demonstrates the studio's ability to create a compelling action experience with remarkable longevity. For players looking for an affordable cooperative game packed with content and replayability, SAS: Zombie Assault 4 remains an easy recommendation years after its original release. Rating: 8/10

I played this game a while so whatever review I end up writing will be very different from what I likely would of written back then regardless I will still say what I want to say, this game is more of a phone game than a PC game that's just me speaking personally, I also kind of wish it was less grindy to get the gear and another thing I didn't like about the game is that at some point the enemies and the bosses got repetitive like initially the bosses felt a fresh change, but the game could of maybe had more unique bosses just my two cents there. Also I couldn't play the last two maps Ice Station and Meltdown as they were exclusive to the flash edition of the game.
