Very cool game, made me feel nostalgic and wishing to play Warcraft 3 again because of it's style. I hope atleast some of the interactions/lore will stay canon when Riot releases the mmo.

I enjoyed this game just like Airship Syndicate's previous game (Battle Chasers: Nightwar) which you should also check out. Knew nothing about League of Legends but wasn't an issue. Turn-based gameplay/combat system was interesting and really nice graphics and art style making it enjoyable to play through all the way to the end. Only issues were several minor annoying bugs (especially with the quest locations on maps) as well as some quests that were hard to know what to do / where to go without checking a guide.
great story telling with great voice acting, can become repetitive unless you constantly switch up your teams, it was still fun to play HOWEVER getting 100% completion was absolutely miserable those fishing achievements triggered me more than any soloq game i ever played. So should you play the game? yes but should you 100% it? please don't
To answer the question of "Do you need to know LoL to enjoy this?" The answer is no. I have minimal knowledge of it, mostly from cultural osmosis and Arcane, and enjoyed it. I feel I got enough contextual stuff from the game to know the stuff that is needed to follow it and know what is going on. The reasons I got this is overall enjoyment of Turn-Based RPGs, Joe Maduriea's art, and other games made by this studio, including what I played of Battle Chasers. That all out of the way, I found the game fully enjoyable (though I admit I did not dive much into the enchantment stuff as it felt kind of overwhelming plus my hoarding tendencies in games). But I will addd some aspects of it felt frustrating like how sometimes, mostly early on, you would get side quests given to you way too early, whether it would point you to areas with enemies higher levels than you can handle at the moment (like one mission pointed me to an area with level 11 enemies while level 6) or the end point of it being much later in the game (like a bounty involving a fetch quest where the end point of it is in a near endgame area and the enemy is level 24 enemy given to you at around level 14. There was even a mission where I stumbled upon the trigger of it before the flag for the mission npc wouldn't even talk to me about the mission until I did the next story quest. Add to that some things being unclear as to where to go at times or the icons on the map not clearing properly until you go to another area or the state of which seemingly resetting but actually completed still. It is pretty easy to get certain characters pretty busted with the right loadouts and equipment though. There was one point where for a while I was killing things pretty quickly with Yasuo because I opened a secret area and got a couple items that really boosted his damage. As time went on Fortune could outclass him but if he could get a crit attack to go off he could still outdamage even her at times. So basically in the end I would recommend this game, but only if you can get it on sale, which seems to be rare because of Riot pretty much ignoring the existence of a lot of the stuff from the Riot Forge initiative because of its percieved "failures". In fact I would blame the fact that most of the aforementioned issues I brought up being due to the allowed dev time, conditions, and budget Airship probably got from Riot and the fact that a lot of the bugs that still exist because Riot didn't want to allocate more time and budget to what little post-launch support it did manage to get. There are better Turn Based RPGS, but there are many far worse ones as well.
It takes about 10 hours plowing through the story for the game to be good. And then it actually is fun! Once the full cast is unlocked and the battles are more dynamic (and more frequent with little downtime in between) the game is in full swing. The bits of lore you get from all the characters through the story itself is great. There is SO much bloat in the over world. If you try to read everything (especially in those first 10 hours) I can see so many people just giving up. It feels like a trial for what Riot wants to do with an MMO. If there were substantial side quests that dealt with other Bilgewater champs (maybe follow around Graves/TF) I would be more compelled, but the vast majority is just game bloat. Over world traversing feels horrible. It just is so slow. Even if you have the run toggle on... Game also feels unitutitive. Oh I can go into inspection mode with Q, but I cant just Q again to get out of it? I can apply a rune with either clicking it or E, but to remove it I can only press E? Some visual bugs in inspection mode made it pretty difficult to tell what was happening sometimes. Instead of my character portrait as Pyke, sometimes it was replaced with the hazard logo... My go-to team ended up being Pyke/Ahri/Illaoi. I liked using Braum in some scenarios too. Dont have too many issues with the cast besides Yasuo. Idk if they really had no idea at the time the plan to release Yone, but everything with him felt so separated. We already had the heart of the group in Braum (and he is you know a pretty intuitive tank) so why did we need another one of the playable characters to not have anything to do with the region Illaoi is the real MC of the game which is a delight Some of the bosses were pretty memorable (Gangplank was disappointing - barrel chains could have been tied into the lanes somehow instead of just being a big attack) with respect being given to a lot of the champs.
what a game all i can say i thought i would not spend this time on the game i spent 48 hours and still happy finished it 9 or 10 i rate it
