I like the premise and the character designs are endearing, but the gameplay feels like multiverses with somehow even less sauce. Refunding this for now.

Absolutely wonderful game. Superb visuals and music, adorable character designs, and gameplay that's both simple enough for less skilled players to get into and engaging enough to satisfy plat-fighter veterans. I've always loved platform fighters, but lamented that they're waaay too demanding for people who haven't grown up playing them and already have the muscle memory and game knowledge needed. This is a game I've always wanted to exist, and now it does! And it's so cheap, too! Highly recommended for basically anyone. It's a delight :)

This game feels pretty personal to me so I'll be as objective as I can be. Royalty Free For All is a fun and simple platform fighter with catchy music and beautiful art. The game is easy to pick up with only three attack buttons and two other buttons for grabbing and blocking. Personally I am a little confused why they decided to add mechanics like wavedashing if they want this game to be a casual experience, but I would be lying if I said the movement that comes from it wasn't fun. The team working on this game listens to feedback and they've already patched some bugs and annoyances. I hope to see more wacky stages with gimmicks to elevate the game's casual tone and also new characters that play in a unique way. I'd say this game is pretty wonderful and I only have some small gripes and nitpicks with the game, but it's a fun time either way. I'll give a quick PROS/CONS list here: PROS: -Fun, simple controls -Beautiful art and catchy music -Silly and lighthearted tone -Developers listen to feedback (They're probably reading this, hello!) -Party mode is a quick and chaotic mode that doesn't really care about skill and wants to make you and everyone else laugh with the ridiculous launches you get from being hit CONS: -Options menu feels out of place artstyle-wise (Retro computer/handheld aesthetic clashing with the cartoony artstyle) -Mechanics like wavedashing and moonwalking could be intimidating for new players (although these are NOT necessary to play!) -Game needs more items, wacky stages and characters with unique movesets (They said they are working on 8 more characters so let's be patient) Overall, this is a very solid game that will get more features, bug fixes and QoL updates in the future soon. I've been following this game for a while and they have added a bunch of cool stuff already like a new stage and fighter. I'd say this is a cool game to check out if you want a simple platform fighter to goof around with friends or maybe go all in on being competitive. TL;DR: Really easy to pick-up platform fighter with a charming vibe and cast of characters. There are modes for casuals and competitive players to try and play in their own way. Game doesn't have a crazy amount of content but in the future, we will have more stages and characters. (They are going to work on 8 new characters!) I'd give it a 9/10 for being a solid, fun game that I can't find any issues with besides some nitpicks.
Surprisingly pretty fun. A slightly dummed down plat fighter but its a nice change of pace when I don't want to play smash or ROE2. Would recommend!
a pretty fun game, its worth a try.
The game is fun. The simplified gameplay will definitely not be for everyone, but once you get the hang of it you'll be okay. If you just want to have a stupidly fun party game with your friends, this is the game to try. The animations and character designs just ooze charm and care, and a lot of work went into them. Really the only thing holding it back is it definitely needs some polish in some areas (Arcade mode especially, plus ending screens for when the match is over would be nice) which could all definitely be fixed with more patches in the future
I have been having an absolute blast and laughing the whole time at how goofy this game is! It's simple but fun and party mode is insane! I can't wait to see where it goes from here!
I'll have to say my favourite thing about the game is the 1930's cartoon art style. I like the character choices, music, items and stages. I think it's all very interesting and this game has a ton of potential. My favourite character to use right now is Toto. Arcade Mode is cool and it is similar to how the original Smash Bros. arcade mode is. You go through a series of different kinds of matches, board the platforms and break the targets. When you get to the end, you fight final boss. It is a bit of a tricky boss, but after a few tweaks that can continue to get better. The gameplay is simple and a bit different to games like Smash Bros. After a bit of tweaking and polish, the game will continue to get better as well. Overall, it is a charming game and i look forward to seeing how this game progresses going forward. I'd give it a 6/10 at it's current state.
The simplicity of the controls is a double edged sword. It's amazing for players new to fighting games but it limits the play styles of each character, which can be a pain to get used to. Memory: Priceless
