I'm having a whale of a time! Keep in mind I played on launch day so any bugs I might refer to will probably be patched pretty quickly. The good: + Cute hand-drawn art style + Classic ost makes me constantly go "hey I know that song!" + The characters are wacky and clearly have a lot of love put into them + Only having 6 moves makes it very easy to pick up any character + Great netcode The bad: - some visual bugs mean that sometimes characters sprites vanish for no reason. Sometimes for a few frames, sometimes for most of the match - wavedashing doesn't feel great. Probably on purpose so sweaty nerds like me don't ruin the experience for casual players, but there's a fair chunk of lag on it and it doesn't feel like it's transferring my momentum. Could just be me tho. That said, it's a fun experience even for just a few sessions! If you're looking for a twelve-dollar good time for you and your pals, this is a must-buy! At the very least, check out the demo
While I will start and give this game credit for looking charming and having interesting interpretations of these timeless characters, that's not enough to save it. I don't know how a game this seemingly simple can run so poorly. The framerate is so choppy, especially when there's more than two characters on screen at the same time and I know it's not my computer since this thing runs plenty of bigger and more technical games with no issue, but this one chugs like a dying car. Honestly it even almost made me feel like I was going to throw up. I've also encountered two issues that I can only assume are bugs. I say that because if it was intentional, then that's just poor design. On multiple occasions I would get knocked down and seemingly be stunned, unable to move until hit again, which in one case I was pretty much frozen for a good 30 seconds before I was hit. Another being that the double jump feels very inconsistent where sometimes it just seems to decide not to work. All this was just a dealbreaker to me. I really wanted to like this game, but I just can't. It's so bad that I actually had to look up how to refund a game on Steam for the very first time.
This game is fun and cute! I like the concept for the characters and am really excited to see who else is to come! As someone who LOVES playing games with my friends but isn't great at more intense games like Smash, I see this as an exciting option to have. I really enjoy the sound effects and even the little details like the water sound going away when the waterfalls break, or the moving background, more of this please!! The music is nostalgic and fun but I would love to have some more variety come in with any updates. Overall I'm pretty excited about this game and the growth potential it has. Kudos to everyone involved. For being released YESTERDAY I think it has a lot of heart and good quality to it and the team clearly has a lot of passion for what they put out
Would appreciate if you slowed down the names scrolling for kickstarter backers in the credits
pretty fun platfighter w/ a good amount of unique mechanics and really unique movesets for the characters! WOW!
Royalty Free-For-All is essentially an homemade Smash Bros. It’s got absolutely fantastic art, absolutely fantastic music, and it absolutely doesn’t take itself seriously at all. That’s what I really love about it. I’ve been following the game for a long time, and am very glad to see it out. However, I really think it needs some serious polish before it truly becomes great. It’s still pretty clunky in some areas. Otherwise it’s a blast to play with both competitive and casual crowds.
Some of the most fun I've had with a platform fighter in awhile. Please fix the lobbies man they're real ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.
