About
About ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN
Take control of the protagonist Romeo Stargazer in this third person singleplayer action adventure, split into various chapters. His story is both unpredictable and littered with intense battles, interspersed with side missions to suit the player's pace.
A story that transcends space-time
This game's story starts with space-time itself being shattered by a certain incident. Romeo, too, on the brink of life and death finds himself revived by a new kind of super technology. Thus he is recruited for the FBI's Space-Time Police as a special agent, and wanders the cosmos in search of criminals who've taken advantage of the situation at hand in an attempt to bring justice back to the universe. At the same time, he looks for clues concerning his missing girlfriend Juliet, and quickly comes to find both her disappearance and the destruction of space may be more linked than he thought. Donning the mask called Deadgear, what awaits Romeo at the edges of space-time?
Fight blood with blood
Romeo switches between swords and guns to fight. Wipe out the waves of enemies that stand in your path to give birth to a new kind of bloody action, and take down the fearsome space-time criminals that await. Absorb the blood of your enemies to unleash Romeo's special attack: Bloody Summer, capable of turning any situation around. Romeo's various weapons can be strengthened and altered as the story moves forward as he takes on even stronger enemies.

Hated the asylum level!
The setting, the characters, the visuals and the soundtrack are all just as expected great. There are so many creative and absurd ideas that I was always excited to see whats coming next. Sadly, I think the gameplay is a bit weaker than in other Suda51 and Grasshopper games. It is satisfying to fight through enemies and watch the blood splatter, but aside from a few exceptions, it became a bit dull for me after a while. The older games did a better job in that regard. But overall, I still had a good time.

Suda doesn’t really do "polished" or "mainstream," but his stuff is so unhinged it just burrows into your skull. You’re left wondering what kind of fever dream he had to have to actually build some of this.
Visual clutter is insane.
Picked up ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN during the Summer Sale, despite some concerns about performance based on other reviews/discussions. My rig's around 6 years old so I was expecting some performance issues, but surprisingly it's been... pretty good? Consistent 60+ fps at 1080p on an RTX2080 Super with 8GB VRAM sounds a lot better than what some other people have been reporting. Only setting I changed from default was turning down Motion Blur from Medium->Low. That aside, I'm really having a lot of fun with it. I wasn't sure about the English voices during the intro movie, but even though there's no other voiced languages, the voice cast really did a great job and they grew on me. I'm loving the design, general vibe, and there's been tons of gameplay and style variation which I've been enjoying during the ~6 hours I've played so far. From optional minigames to make curry to boost stats, or suddenly shifting to 2d pixel art for the spaceship bits, it just adds some variation IMO between the action bits and flesh out the story and keep the game interesting. Combat's felt good so far, with a need to keep moving to avoid enemy fire (which is usually pretty well choreographed, as long as the camera doesn't get in the way), and to find enemy weak points to wrap up battles more quickly. If you like silly, visually awesome, and unique games that don't take themselves too seriously; or if you like Suda51 games already, I feel like it's easy to recommend, and it's been a lot of fun so far. Unless this takes a sharp turn for the worse in the late game, I'm glad to have picked this up.
Fun game but too confusing for me
this is the Perfected form of a Grasshopper Hack and Slash.
1.6 hours in and wtf, get this game now if u want something that's unique and insanely artistically nuts P.S. i have hard u need a decently chonky PC for it to run efficiently due to unreal engine 5. P.P.P.S. L Optimization on steam deck cause of unreal engine 5.
