About
Pick one of three heroes and descend into the dungeon, fighting your way down one floor at a time. Every level is generated fresh, so no two attempts play the same. When you die, you start over from the top.
Roguecraft DX takes about five minutes to learn. Getting good at it takes rather longer.
The critically acclaimed modern Amiga classic, now on PC.

Yes, if:
You want a roguelike you can pick up without reading a manual
You'd rather a run took half an hour than a whole evening
You'd like your first character to actually stand a chance
You think a badger following you through a Lovecraftian dungeon is a good idea
Probably not, if:
You're here for deep item identification, hunger clocks, inventory management and a hundred-key verb set. We built a deliberately compact system instead.

In Roguecraft, each of the three playable heroes brings a unique play-style and special abilities to the fight. They also represent different difficulty levels, so choose wisely! The Warrior delivers crushing blows, the Rogue blinks behind enemies for deadly backstabs, and the Wizard may be fragile, but unleashes powerful magic missiles.
Choosing a hero is choosing how hard the challenge is going to be.

Somewhere down there is a cage. Open it, pick up what's inside, give it a good scratch behind the ears, and it goes into your inventory until you need it.
Summon your familiar and it'll fight beside you and fetch loot you can't reach, but only for a handful of turns. It's there to get you out of a tight spot. Knowing when to let it out is half the trick.
Yes, one of them is a badger.

Classic Mode
Play the original procurerally generated 15-level dungeon, fight your way through its depths, and defeat the boss at the end.
Endless Dungeon Mode
Looking to prove yourself? Enter the Endless Dungeon, where the challenges get progressively tougher the deeper you go.
Chicken Run Mode
Want a tough challenge with a fun twist? Play as a Chick Un and see how far you can make it!

Every descent is unique. The dungeon reshapes itself with every run, ensuring a fresh challenge and new surprises each time you play.

Designed to respect your time, most runs last between 30–40 minutes, perfect for a focused session or a quick escape.
Every descent is generated fresh: new rooms, new routes, new ways to die. Unlabelled potions you probably shouldn't drink. Secret rooms you'll only find if you're paying attention.

Hand crafted isometric pixel art in the tradition it came from, every monster, shadow and flagstone placed deliberately. The dungeon oozes atmosphere, and the chickens have considerably more personality than strictly necessary.

For time immemorial a legend has been told of a dark, deadly dungeon containing unimaginable horrors and riches beyond belief. Enough riches and magic to make you a king, THE king even.
Tales of the dungeon was found in an ancient Egyptian library many years ago. The scrolls told rumors of an ancient dark presence and a magic amulet. The legend also tells of a wakening and of horrors to come. Your search carried you across the world - one riddle leading to the next.
Finally you are standing at the entrance of a dark and mystical dungeon. You, Zendar, a warrior, a wizard, or uhm, a rogue… are ready to defeat the monsters and gather the riches waiting below!
You just need to take a leak first.
Step into the dungeon. Embrace the unknown. The depths of Mordecoom await!

Originally developed in Assembly for the Commodore Amiga, Roguecraft has been faithfully ported to PC, preserving its authentic retro charm while bringing the experience to modern systems.

Reviews
Reading the early reviews - it's clear some people really don't get the game's premise... it's a super-simple dungeon-crawling adventure where the gameplay mechanics have been stripped back to keep the focus on exploring, collecting and fighting - without the complexity that often accompanies this type of game. The game started off as a modern retro game on the Amiga, before being released in an enhanced form on the Evercade platform - and now on Steam, with yet more enhancements. New for this release are: An additional (yellow) potion, whose function varies with each play-through. A cage that contains helpful creatures - such as a Badger, that can assist you briefly. The ability to use controller, keyboard or mouse/touchpad/touchscreen to control the action. New game modes. New graphics and animation. I already own this on Evercade, but I was happy to buy the Steam version as it builds on a fun recipe in meaningful ways. Tips for newbies - learn when to use the wait feature, as this can give you the upper hand in battles. Look out for signs of hidden rooms - there's often tell-tale indications when one is present / accessible from the current room. Keep a lit of potion colours and what they do - as this changes each run. Watch your health bar like a hawk - it can save you an untimely death when you're in the middle of a good dungeon run. Finally - I wish Badger Punch Games every success with this game on Steam.

Wow... this game is not good. The positive reviews are 100% bought. It is completely brain dead with 0 strategy. You have a mathemathically correct solution every second. It's slow. There are no new enemies after level 10 (and all enemies until then are more or less walk at you and die). Just, bad. Good music I guess.
In the world of roguelikes, the simplicity of this one reminds me of the early days of FTL and Rogue Legacy. I'm not far in so I have no idea how deep this goes, but it's really fun and engaging and having quick 30 minute runs is definitely a plus for me. Soundtrack is a banger too. I fear any negative reviews that come will be from any preconceived expectations not being aligned with what's on the box.
Originally released on the Commodore Amiga, this game was designed specifically to be played like classic dungeon crawlers from the 80's and early 90's, with simple controls and minimalist rules. The only rule is survive as long as you can and see how far you can get. That's it. The game play is basically this: You start at Dungeon Level 1. Each new room you enter is revealed on the map and expands the more you explore. Your goal is to find the key and the door to go down to the next level. Repeat until you die then try again. (There is an end boss on the final level) Best strategy is to clear ALL the monsters on the level BEFORE heading down through the door to maximize leveling up your character. Save your healing potions if possible. Yellow and colored potions are random effects, changes each run. If you enjoy the aesthetic, loop, and tension of classic 80s computer dungeon crawling, Roguecraft will feel very familiar. If your expecting more you'll probably find it boring or whatever like the other reviews mention. I personally don't, I think it's a gem with some catchy Commodore-like music.
I had high hope for this game but it's borring and repetitive. No level up or skills. Clearly a mobile game with garbage resolution that hurt the eyes.
I've played a bunch of this on the Evercade version. Great to see this release on Steam as well! If you go in understanding the simplicity of this game it's great. Read the description on the store page. This game isnt't trying to reinvent the wheel nor is it trying to be the most deep experience you can find. What it does is simple and it does it very well. You move to attack enemies and explore various floors trying to make your way way deeper into a dungeon. There are secrets in some walls, potions and critters to help you. fight/ avoid monsters and go deeper. That is all.
This is a lot of fun reminds me of an old text based Rogue I used to play..however this is less forgiving and can be a bit "cheap" with traps and potions. This is a dungeon crawler, semi lovecraftian so that is expected, just assume easy is normal , medium is hard and hard is wtf. There are some interesting ways you can work the system due to it being rttb or some other variation of turn based. Very fun and you get an arcade style hi score board.
I got it for the C64, and the Amiga, so I couldn't resist Roguecraft on the PC! For the confused: Roguecraft DX is a retro-style game, and a port from the Amiga, a retro platform. So it has retro-style pixel art graphics. It has the straightforward gameplay of the best retro games, but it certainly isn't free of strategy. It's a great rogue-ish game for people who aren't great at rogue-ish games. Download the demo & give it a try!
Simple and addictive!
super Spiel! Ich habe es sehr viel auf meinem Amiga gespielt, später dann noch auf dem Analogue Pocket als GameBoy Color Version. Es war auch interessant den Programmierer auf der Amiga40 zu treffen.
