Dead game. Dev statement: "Due to tough economic conditions facing our studio, we’ve had to shift our focus to new projects."

Yeah its okay
Rogue Samurai is an action roguelite that combines the thrill of fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with the highly replayable progression systems that have become a staple of the genre. Developed and published by CO's Entertainment, the game places players in the role of a lone samurai facing relentless hordes of enemies across dangerous battlegrounds inspired by Japanese history and folklore. Rather than focusing on a complex narrative, the game prioritizes satisfying combat, continuous character growth, and the excitement of discovering new combinations of abilities and equipment with every playthrough. This straightforward approach allows players to jump directly into the action while still providing enough depth to encourage dozens of repeat runs. Combat serves as the heart of the experience, delivering frantic battles that demand quick reflexes and smart positioning. As enemy numbers steadily increase, players must carefully balance offense and survival while weaving through swarms of opponents. Every successful run rewards players with upgrades that dramatically alter their fighting style, making each session feel different from the last. Whether focusing on devastating offensive abilities or building a more durable warrior capable of surviving overwhelming encounters, the upgrade system offers plenty of flexibility. The gradual escalation in difficulty ensures that every victory feels earned while maintaining the addictive loop that defines successful roguelite games. One of Rogue Samurai's biggest strengths is its emphasis on build variety. Throughout each adventure, players unlock numerous passive bonuses, active abilities, and combat enhancements that can be combined in countless ways. Instead of relying on a single optimal strategy, the game encourages experimentation by presenting meaningful upgrade choices that influence how battles unfold. This constant decision-making keeps gameplay engaging, as adapting to random upgrade opportunities becomes just as important as mastering swordplay. The result is a progression system that rewards creativity and gives every run its own unique identity. The game's weapon selection further enriches its combat mechanics. While the iconic katana naturally plays a central role, players can also unlock additional traditional Japanese weapons, each with its own strengths, attack patterns, and tactical advantages. These different fighting styles encourage players to approach battles from fresh perspectives, whether relying on speed, crowd control, or heavy-hitting attacks. The diversity of weapons pairs well with the game's upgrade mechanics, allowing for numerous character builds that remain enjoyable even after many hours of play. Exploration contributes to the experience by introducing multiple handcrafted environments that feature distinct layouts and enemy encounters. Rather than serving as simple backdrops, each location presents different challenges that require players to adjust their movement and combat tactics. Powerful boss battles provide memorable highlights at the end of these stages, demanding mastery of both the chosen weapon and the upgrades accumulated throughout the run. These encounters add welcome variety and help create a satisfying sense of progression as players continue unlocking new content. Visually, Rogue Samurai adopts a colorful 3D art style that complements its fast-paced gameplay. Character animations remain fluid even during the most chaotic battles, making combat feel responsive and impactful. The environments effectively capture a stylized interpretation of feudal Japan while maintaining clear visibility during large-scale encounters filled with enemies and visual effects. Although the presentation may not rival the production values of major AAA releases, it succeeds in delivering attractive visuals that support the game's emphasis on smooth, readable action. The audio presentation reinforces the intensity of combat with energetic music and satisfying sound effects that make every sword strike and defeated enemy feel rewarding. Controller support further enhances accessibility, allowing players to enjoy the action comfortably regardless of their preferred input method. The overall presentation demonstrates a clear focus on gameplay first, with every audiovisual element working together to support the game's fast rhythm instead of distracting from it. While Rogue Samurai offers an entertaining core gameplay loop, it is not entirely without flaws. Players looking for an elaborate storyline or highly complex RPG mechanics may find its structure relatively simple. Some may also wish for an even broader selection of enemies, environments, and long-term progression systems to extend replayability further. Nevertheless, the game succeeds where it matters most by providing responsive combat, satisfying progression, and enough strategic variety to make repeated runs consistently enjoyable. Continued post-launch improvements also reflect the developer's commitment to expanding and refining the experience. Overall, Rogue Samurai delivers an enjoyable roguelite adventure that effectively blends samurai-themed action with addictive survivor-inspired gameplay. Its engaging combat, flexible character progression, varied weapon selection, and rewarding replay loop make it an appealing choice for players who enjoy action games built around experimentation and constant improvement. Although it does not radically reinvent the genre, it executes its ideas with confidence and provides plenty of exciting moments for fans of fast-paced hack-and-slash roguelites. Rating: 6/10
There's a setting in the options top turn off screen shake, but every time the katana makes contact with an enemy, the screen shakes. If you're someone who can't deal with that every second, skip this game.
