As a former competitive Melee tryhard who quit going to tournaments a long time who who has also dabbled in PM / P+, Smash 64, Smash Ult and a few other platform fighters (not to mention RoA1, which I also enjoyed) this game genuinely feels like a melting pot of the best aspects of every platform fighter. The people who have issues with this game largely seem to boil down to 'wah wah it's not RoA1' or 'I don't understand how counterplay to ASDI down (floorhugging) works so wah wah' which are delulu nonsense are far as I'm concerned. I would ignore those people, their personal preferences are valid but saying a game is bad because it didn't cater to you specifically is an outright bad-faith engagement as far as I'm concerned. A more legitimate criticism would be this game's lack of content / appeal in terms of what a casual player would want, the workshop is obviously there which is cool but if you're looking for a casual platform fighter in the vein of something like non-competitive Smash, this game will seem like a puddle and probably not grip you. I'm not a casual player when it comes to this kind of game so I'm not bothered by this, but I can fully understand how a casual player might feel disappointed with how little this game has for them.. though at the end of the day I feel it's somewhat justifiable in my eyes given this game just clearly wasn't made for that kind of player. That's okay, not everything has to be for everyone. RoA2 combines the depth / complexity of games like Melee / P+ with the accessibility of newer Smash titles.. and wraps it all up in the bow of the charm of Rivals of Aether. I genuinely think this game is a 10/10, I've genuinely came to like this game more than Melee and I used to sweat my ass off going to local tournaments for Melee. I will always love Melee, but I think I finally found the game that will let me put it down and move onto something new. The playerbase isn't huge, but it's stable and you can always find matches, the game also has a healthy albeit modest in size competitive scene.. not to mention fantastic netcode. If you're a more 'serious' Smash player or a lover of platform fighters in general on a competitive level, this game is an absolute diamond you cannot go wrong with.. provided you aren't mentally broken by the concept of ASDI down and can't comprehend how counterplay works lmao. Again, 10/10. Love this game to pieces.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Love the game and look forward to the next 10 years of updates. I still don't understand why Orcane had to be completely changed with his less slippery movements, slower and less effective bubbles, and his down special no longer delays his fall near enough to be useful but other than that, the game is good.
I think this is far and away the most well built platform fighter outside of Smash and in many ways, it surpasses Smash Ultimate. It is both incredibly fun to play, and a nightmare due to the online community. I ranked somewhere in Plat which is considered not bad for a casual player, but essentially every game I play in unranked ends with me getting destroyed by someone unless I pick my main and sweat like it's ranked. It makes it very frustrating to try and learn a new character or even play a laid back match. I tried to get several friends into this game and all have complained about not being able to even begin to get the hang of it due to their opponents 3 stocking them within 2 minutes every match. I'm not counting that against the game itself, and I'm hoping with more casual support and a console launch we will get more players that don't live and breathe the game. you should get this game cause it's very fun and well built, but don't expect to be able to play online like Smash unless you're ready to commit to getting good or have friends to play with.
It's good.
i genially have so many issues with this game that i cant even get my self to write them all down rn. I am just putting this here for people to see and dont buy it. I am going to write an actual review later. But just imagine how bad a game must be to the point where you feel writing a review for it is a chore. Just buy the first one.
Really Good game, But horrible ranked matchmaking, hope they improve it.
juegazo, es muy bueno para jugar con amigos, ojala tuviera un poco mas de personajes, le tengo fe para que cresca. No lo abandonen, no se lo merece... 10/10 y god
Gouie may be the reason I refund this game. Looking for a fun SSB like game and saw this on sale. expected somethig fun but it was the most toxic goui players i have ever seen in unranked. I have had no fun so far but may give it a second chance befiore refuunding.
This is the best platform fighter available right now
Coming from Smash Bros (and being a huge fan of the series) this game feel considerably better to play on a purely technical level. Many of the complex mechanis of Melee were streamlined and simplified while keeping much of what makes it such a blast to play. Can't recommend it enough.
