Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

honestly now that i've tried completing more providence trials, and the fact that they're required for item unlocks and game completion, i think they're just plain bad for the game as a whole. edit your save file instead of suffering through ♥♥♥♥ challenge design. if they're meant to be a difficult challenge for experienced players, they shouldn't have anything other than cosmetic unlocks tied to them (risk of rain 2 gives you a skin for obliterating or beating the game on monsoon. doing eclipse modifiers is just for bragging rights and fun. almost every item and ability in the game can be unlocked on drizzle iirc. that's a good system). if they're meant to teach new players the game, they should actually be about normal gameplay and things that are both possible to do in a standard run to some degree and the ones that unlock abilities and items should be about the unique properties of them (risk of rain 2 achieved this by tying ability and item unlocks to challenges that were usually directly related to the item they unlock and not hard for someone to do by accident if the run allows it). not to mention they simply shouldn't be blatantly unfair for no reason. (looking at you, scavenger hunt). no but seriously: scavenger hunt unlocks an alternate main attack for enforcer, so lets spam drones and have the player fight against the minions of the literal final boss of the game (which go through the enforcer shield for some reason???? even though the normal enemy version doesn't?), while having to slowly but surely kill an elder lemurian and drop down to FINALLY get to a scavenger fight. wait, what was that before about an enforcer attack? oh well just make it be equipped by default idk i forgot we had to use it why did they see how well risk of rain 2's achievements and ability unlocks worked and then not do that again?? no matter what way you look at it, the providence trials currently in the game with their current rewards are directly detrimental to the gameplay experience, and in my opinion they almost ruin the game entirely. they're not fun, not intuitive or engaging, not educational, and shouldn't be necessary to experience the game's full content.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 25: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

More than a remake, more than a remix, it's a return to a fantastic game formula in the best way possible. I love Risk of Rain and its universe so much, and if you're on the fence about this one, I guarantee you're missing out. Everything is fantastically put together and I'm so glad Returns exists at all.
I'm going to first discuss Risk of Rain Returns as a remake, and then as a game. Risk of Rain Returns is, in my opinion, the definitive way to play the now classic indie roguelike. It is that unfortunately rare type of remake who's changes enhance the original rather than changing it. It adds new challenges, items, enemies and characters along with beautiful pixel art that does thankfully look like an HD version of the original. It also fixed the multiplayer so you don't have to port forward anymore (hallelujah) and other technical problems. I wish all remakes were like this. Now, what actually is Risk of Rain Returns? It is a side-scrolling roguelike in which you, an insignificant survivor of a ship attack, have to get off Petrichor V. You need to collect dropped cargo to make yourself stronger, and you'd better hurry because the planet is starting to notice your presence and it wants you gone. It isn't a super mechanically complex game, but the variety keeps runs feeling fresh and the large quantity of unlocks give you stuff to keep playing towards. Chris Christodoulou's now iconic soundtrack returns, blending with the lovely art style better than ever before. I highly recommend Risk of Rain Return for both newcomers to the series and returning veterans alike.
rain returns
First of its kind and way better than the original :). Even if you have played the original this version has twice the content easily. Worth the purchase no matter what.
