Proof that gameplay beats graphics. This is everything HLL Vietnam wishes it could be.
GOOOOOOD MOOOOORNING VIETNAM! Its a good game because you can slip into a tunnel behind an enemy, crawl out and... get killed by friendly fire. It’s tactical, it’s deep, it’s... painful. But what an atmosphere! Don’t forget to put on your helmet, even though it won’t save you from bullets coming out of nowhere.
this game is the single BEST vietnam shooter there is. period end of story. HLL:Vietnam is embarassing. mind you this game is almost a decade old and does everything better. Team 17 and expression slop games should be embarrassed of themselves.
HLL: Vietnam < RS2:Vietnam Even though this game is nearly a decade older than HLL: Vietnam, it is magnitudes better especially if you're a fan of the historical aspects. 11/10
Considering how old this game is, the Vietnam vibes are still way more on point and immersive in this game than any other new Vietnam games. Notably Hell Let Loose: Vietnam playtest was a massive let down and Im just gonna install RS2 again by this point. I just hope you're gonna make RS3 someday. I'd donate my left nutsack and my first born child for a RS3 game in my lifetime
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam is still the gold standard for semi-casual milsim shooters in my eyes. It perfectly balances realism and accessibility. The gunplay feels deadly and immersive, the shooting mechanics are satisfying, and every engagement is intense without turning into a walking simulator. Unlike many hardcore milsims, you actually spend your time fighting instead of running for 15 minutes. What really makes the game special though is the atmosphere. The sound design, the voice lines, the chaos of the battles and some gritty moments. Few games manage to create this kind of tension and immersion while still being genuinely fun to play casually. Even years later, nothing quite scratches the same itch. If a proper remake or successor came out tomorrow, I’d buy it day one without hesitation.
8 Years i've owned this game, and its the one i always keep coming back to. needs updating but is very fun.
When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife until I said yes to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there. When I was there... all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.
Its glorious days are long gone, but I have never had so much fun playing a video game, neither before nor after The gameplay formula was perfect - even though I was only 1/32 of the team, my actions always had an impact. I also very rarely found myself doing the same thing twice
