Riddle of the Sphinx™ The Awakening (Enhanced Edition)

Not a fan, if it was a free game I would still be disappointed.

i loved the puzzles and overall exploration. i'm hoping they remaster omega stone too.

I got this game remembering playing parts of it as a kid. The puzzles are still just as difficult as I clearly didn't remember any of them and had a blast playing this with my wife. I recommend this if you like a challenge. "RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX!'' heh

I should have left this review three years ago, after I first got and played this edition... TL;DR Excellent remake of a solid Mystlike. Riddle of the Sphinx (originally released in 1999, this is a remastered edition) has a very special place in my heart. I had some unique experiences with this game in my childhood and ultimately ended up very fond of it, so I was very interested in this remake once I learned about it. And it exceeded my expectations. AS A REMAKE: Excellently done, my idea of what a remake should be. The core game (and feel) is the same as the original, but this edition is massively polished up in a major improvement. The extremely dated, low-res graphics look great here, the worst-designed puzzles have been reworked so they're not a problem anymore, and the barest, least interesting areas of the original have been fleshed out a little more here, providing a bit of extra content. While it isn't COMPLETELY devoid of changes for the worst, overall it's far superior and was a joy to experience as a fan of the original. AS A GAME OVERALL: This is a classic Mystlike adventure - which means one where you click around to navigate through predetermined scenes to explore an area and solve puzzles. In this case, the area is the Sphinx and Great Pyramid, and a bunch of secret chambers existing therein. There might as well not be a story here, but it is a fun experience in terms of exploration, gathering inventory items and finding out where to use them, and puzzle-solving. I think it holds up pretty well; it by no means deserves to be considered a titan of the genre, but it holds its own. The difficulty is fair; clues exist for all of the significant puzzles and make sense, you just have to find and recognize them. A couple of extra passes through rooms might be necessary, but there's nothing ridiculous anymore, and the most obscure puzzle can be easily brute-forced. It's a very special game to me personally, but I think it's also a worthy entry for those who enjoy this sort of slow-paced, older-style exploration/puzzle game. Just a fair warning: you may be disappointed by the ending. (But what's new with that?)

Die Grafik ist cool. Viele Rätsel machen nur wenig Sinn.

Good remaster. I enjoyed the refreshed puzzles and enhanced graphics. Played through the entire game in a single sitting.
