It's a shame that you can only recommend or not with steam. It's a 6/10 simulator - its ok nothing more.

Honestly, Retro Rewind is such a good game to play. Key features: Simulates a '90s video store (similar to Block-Buster or Hollywood Video) Keeps performance high on low-medium settings (sometimes High) on low-end specs Keeps you entertained while being mildly stressful. Downsides: No multiplayer feature YET, I hope. No way to upgrade to DVD along side VHS. No other cool formats (like Laserdisc) Managing staff is a bit hard. Not being able to leave the store "unattended", even with staff in the building. A "return checkout" employee cannot pick up VHS tapes from the ground. (Such as when a customer gets angry and pushes the things in their bag onto the floor. Random tapes can be found on the floor) Overall, RR is a good game with some minor bugs that can be patched in a jiff. Seeing as this is a newer game, (only a few months old at the time of writing this review) I was expecting a few bugs. It is on the pricey side. The game costs $20/£17 at full price and is worth waiting for a Steam sale to pick the game up. I originally started in the demo version of the game and when I pressed "Play" on the full version, it moved all my progress from the demo, which was nice. 8.5/10

90年代初頭のレンタルビデオ店を経営し、映画の仕入れや陳列、レンタル業務をこなしながら、自分好みのお店へと育てていく経営シミュレーター。 何より素晴らしいのが、小さい頃に利用していたレンタルビデオ屋を思い出してしまう雰囲気の良さ。所狭しと並んだビデオのパッケージや映画ポスターを眺めながら店内を歩いているだけでも妙に懐かしく、あの頃の「今日は何を借りよう」と棚を眺めていた時間まで蘇ってくる。 ゲームとしてやっていること自体はかなり単純。新しいビデオを仕入れて棚に並べ、客に貸し出し、稼いだお金で棚を増やして店を拡張する。その繰り返しなのだが、これが驚くほど心地よく、気付けば時間を忘れて延々と店を弄ってしまう。 最初は小さかった店に棚が増え、壁にはポスターが並び、扱える映画のジャンルも少しずつ充実していく。ただ数字が大きくなっていくだけではなく、「間違いなく自分好みのレンタルビデオ屋になってきた」という実感を持てるのが楽しい。 特に好きなのが、新しい映画を仕入れる瞬間。新商品が追加されるたびに「これも置きたい」「このジャンルの棚を作りたい」と収集欲を刺激され、買い集めたビデオを綺麗に陳列して眺めているだけでも満足感がある。もはや経営効率そっちのけで棚を整理している時間すら楽しい。 季節イベントや新作映画の発売日といった予定をカレンダーで確認できるのも上手い。繁忙期に備えてどのジャンルを充実させるか、棚を増やすか、店を広げるかといった短期的な目標が自然と生まれるため、単調になりがちな店舗経営に程よいメリハリが付いている。 店が大きくなればスタッフを雇って仕事を任せることもできる。こいつらが時々「なんでそこでそうなるんだよ」と言いたくなる程度にはバカなのだが、一生懸命働いている姿を眺めていると妙に憎めない。効率化のために雇ったはずなのに、気付けば店の一員として愛着が湧いてくるのも面白いところ。 派手な出来事が次々に起こるゲームではない。それでも、ビデオを一本仕入れ、棚を一つ増やし、少しずつ店を大きくしていく。その小さな積み重ねがとにかく気持ちいい。 「自分のレンタルビデオ屋を持つ」という極めて単純な夢を、収集と経営の楽しさを通してこれ以上なく丁寧にゲームへ落とし込んだ作品。こういうゲームは本当に時間が溶ける。

Retro Rewind is a gem and a nsotalgia trip. If you grew up in the 1990s looking forward to weekend trips to Blockbuster video than this will be trip down memory lane. You can almost feel the plastic of the VHS cases and smell the candy. Retro Rewind is a fun trip for 30 to 40 hours. Blood Pact Studios seem to be adding on to the late game. I wish we could get some more movie genres, such as foreign and documentaries. Finally, some DLC around renting video games would be awesome!
