Retro Football Boss is a historical football management simulation featuring the English professional leagues from 1888 to 1998 (with German leagues coming soon). This is your chance to take a trip down memory lane or right the wrongs of the past.

I recommend this game. 7/10 is my review. At first I wasn't impressed, the game crashed at first friendly game, but with time and perseverance, I'm thinking that the game converted me. Maybe I'm a nostalgic young boy that likes ancient times, I love History! Inside and outside of sports. Maybe I'm a person that thinks that database and immersion is more important than last generation graphics. Maybe I'm a strange guy with strange hobbies. All of this may be True! But anyway I'm waiting with anxiety for RFB2. And without any regret!

This is difficult, I can't reccommend this game at the moment. But would certainly recommend following this game and see how things go as it has so much potential and will probably end up being a really great football management game in time. I've managed to play at most around of a quarter of an hour of the game in a single session before it has crashed, and this has happened every time I have tried to play it no matter how often I have uninstalled and re-installed, tried checking the files for erros and contacted the dev's on the forums and they have responded but the problems still persist which is annoying especially as this is one of the first time I have experienced a problem like this with a game. There are however many positives about the game, it is currently in Early Access so the performance will be improved and new features will be added, and the dev's are always on the forums answering questions and they do their best to squash bugs and improve the game, and you want this game to be successful for them as they put so much work (and research) into it and it has so much potential just need to fix a couple of things.
have tried this game but unfortunately is no t nearly ready could be a very good game when completed but very buggy at the moment
Played this game for a little while. Love the premise, love the idea but it's still unfinished. I really wanted to get into it, but I will definitely be watching from the sidelines and seeing as it improves.
Have waited for a game like this to come out, to control from a retro era to current date, unfortnately I never got through to a second season because game crashes. Based on the old Championship Manager format, but very low processing. But this game has great potential, what if it could be converted to the Football Manager format and even better what if it could even replicate older Football Stadia, maybe I'm getting carrried away!! Would certainly be interested in buying again if this game is updated and at least playable without bugs.
I love the idea of this ambitious game, plus it has the look and feel of vintage Champ Man 01/02. However, as it currently stands and bearing in mind it is Early Access, I can't recommend the game. The UI is fiddly and hard to use, there are plenty of bugs and the game is just too unstable to be fun.
Please Please Please update this game. I love it it has so much potential. But it seems as tho the developers have forgetten about it
Great start to a game full of potential. This is the distant cousin of two great text sims, the original Championship Manager and OOTP Baseball. Using a historical database to recreate seasons from 1888 to 1998 this game creates endless challenges. Want to know what it is like to have a team with Best, Law and Charlton? Or extend Liverpool's 70's, 80's heydey into the 90's? It's all here. Yes there are bugbears, (User interface, scouting) which over time will improve but stick with it. I remember CM and OOTP started slowly and they are giants now. Immerse yourself, when I took over Leeds Utd in 1980, I could almost smell the beer on my players breaths as they trotted out of the tunnel, I could smell the linament on the creaky knees of Revie's old boys, Paul Madeley and Trevor Cherry and enjoyed the skills of Brian Flynn and Arthur Graham. Good start, lots of detail and scope to change and improve!
Seems to have completely died off.
