About

Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run but determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.
Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

Sophia is a skilled, agile, and strong-willed fighter who engages in dynamic and violent melee combat. Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the Island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.

Shift between the Middle Age of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale, through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.

Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light - a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.

It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths.
Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial and every step or will you join those who never came back?

Story & Audio
The story is easily the highlight of the entire experience. It hooks you early, but the narrative only gets stronger and more gripping the deeper into the campaign you get, culminating in a powerful finish. Backing up that narrative momentum is fantastic voice acting across the cast and an incredible musical score that ramps up the tension at all the right moments.
Combat & Progression
Combat is a massive step up from previous games in the series. It feels fluid, responsive, and genuinely fun, giving you a real fighting chance instead of making you dread getting spotted. On the other hand, the stealth sections are still an absolute chore. They quickly turn into tedious trial-and-error routines that drag the pacing down. Progression has a neat tactile feel, though, especially with the charm system. Equipping jewelry perks actually renders the rings and necklaces directly onto your character model, which makes your build visible without having to dig through menus.
Graphics & Animation
Visually, the environments and textures look great, but the lighting holds it back from reaching its full potential. Shadows and light sources can look weird and flat in spots, making this a prime candidate for ray tracing or path tracing implementation. The motion capture is mostly decent, but it suffers from an odd disconnect during physical exertion. Whenever the protagonist is heavily breathing, panting, or grunting, the facial animations and mouth movements remain static, which can pull you out of the moment.
Performance & Polish
Optimization is generally solid, keeping things smooth for the vast majority of playtime, though you will run into occasional frame drops during heavier sequences. I also hit one frustrating progression bug where a companion refused to follow me to an objective door. Because the NPC was not in the right position, the cutscene failed to trigger, leaving my character stuck in an uncontrollable running animation against the door until I quit to the main menu and reloaded. Even with the annoying stealth sequences and a few presentation quirks, the overhauled combat, great charm mechanics, and incredible second half of the story make this well worth playing through to the end.
Great game. Awesome comabat, story and character acting. Lots of fun and angst, would recommend.
This game is one of the best to come out this year. Everything about this game is great. The graphics are absolutely beautiful. The story is good. The world is awesome. 10/10.
