though a relatively short play through, it does have some decent puzzles/h.o. to it. but that shortness and the ending make it feel a bit abrupt and incomplete. i would like to see this built into a series otherwise... eyah, kind of short for a "full" game. a prequal or a opener, okay. but not as a stand alone. but hey, if you catch it on sale &/or they Do expand on it, buy it. it's a bit twisted and dark but it's still worth a look.
not a HOG gal, but i can say the gameplay is a step up from the first, with more types of puzzles, a simple navigable area typical of HOGs, and an item system. still the creme de la creme for me is the visuals and story. its a bit more gruesome than the first, in turn a lot of the victims are a hell of a lot less sympathetic though. the series ends here without the third game ever being released, so brace yourself for a downer ending cliffhanger combo + another interesting game for those who like the macabre ~ i imagine this would be pretty typical to a HOG fan, with its crowning feature being the themes - overpriced for 2-4 hours of content. wait for a sale or bundle

Visually incredible. Has a lot of bizzare stuff in it and the style is fire. Worth playing for that alone. The bad news is that there are a lot of bad jigsaw puzzles where you have to fish for puzzle pieces from (and place them back into) a soup of other puzzle pieces. It's a mess. There is a skip button but I'm stupid so I didn't use it. First time playthrough: 4 hours 6 minutes 6/10
Whilst at the time of release the game was a little passé in terms of graphics, sadly due to it diverging from the original games' mixed media approach to the animated, has left it to age less well. Would I recommend this game to someone who had played the first game? Probably. Its always nice to see the end of a story and although flawed its not unplayable. I enjoyed this game thus far but consider it a poor relative to the original, and loses some of what made the original so unique. That said it still has the merest drop of the essence of the first game, so if you played that and this game is cheap (or within your budget if you literally just finished the previous game) its worth a shot. It still has that surreal discomfort of the predecessor which is so unique that despite being an inferior game, I just can't bad mouth it. Bah! I want to give it a bad review but I just can't, I think this game has to be viewed through the lens of a classic, warts and all, its good but not a good game in the conventional sense of the term yet somehow despite that is enjoyable and the puzzle element is impressive despite the crudity of the animation and lack of the thoughtful monologues of the original. My only real complaint is the puzzles are so difficult at the end it becomes a bit of a slog.
I love this game so much. First played it as a child and the nostalgia sure affects how I feel about it, but it's simply awesome and totally worth it, especially for the sale price. Quite funny at times with the pun-filled newspaper articles, still a little unsettling with the gorgeous art throughout, and miles better than the first game. Not so much a hidden object game than simply a puzzle game, but if you enjoy both, you'll love this. I do wish a third game had come and wrapped everything up (hashtag lobotomy) but I'd so recommend this. :D Stunning.
