REANIMAL

GREAT game. This is my first Tarsier Studios game and it is so good. I played it multiple times for the achievements and loved every playthrough. Even when I found out I had to completely restart a playthrough, it wasn't a big deal. Friend's Pass is also great! Haven't played the DLC yet, but looking forward to tackling that with my duo! The only critique is the length to price comparison as basically everyone has said. This is one of the worst price to playtime games I have ever played. Normal playthrough just for story and casual playing is about 3.5-4 hours. For $40 that's horrible, so pick it up on sale.

Being a avid player of Little Nightmare games I feel like I know how to achievement hunt in third person environments that contain find-able secrets even behind puzzles. As a single only player I would have loved if it was possible to swap between the Boy and Girl, simply because the lantern casts a bigger radius of light compared to the lighter. But Reanimal just feels straight up obtuse, I would've loved to get the secret ending on my own but I've already shoved my face against every wall, nook, cranny, even into holes; I still don't understand the logic behind how the achievements are structured, I honestly think I can't get that ending on my own. For me, it really sucks. It takes SO LONG to play through the whole game. I've played 3 times and two times I've attempted the other ending on my own and it's not working. I also wish there was a real system around Chapter Selecting and restarting, yes after playing through the whole game you can start the game at different chapters without any collectables or secrets found, but it's not intuitive for replaying sections while also keeping progress in all previous chapters you've played. You just end up saving over and deleting previous playthroughs (overwriting the data of your save slots). There's a global progression like with Posters that's saved. But getting the statutes for the secret ending is different you HAVE TO play the game from the beginning-to-end in one save slot without being able to back track at all. This is difficult because you can't restart chapters or hop around: The time sink alone is a really long time. I don't know how this can be done without a 100% Guide and I don't know how people figured it out... TL;DR: Reanimal is a good game and has a very dark compelling narrative; I recommend it for that reason, there's no doubt it's worth playing. Achievement Hunting in Reanimal is very frustrating and obtuse without any help; that's why I post this review as a don't recommend, because I'm simply not understanding the logic behind how achievements and secrets are structured. I don't know what's wrong.
