Great rail road game. Many long fun hours playing. Do hope that some more USA and city maps come out. Would like to have the new trains available for the old USA map.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Before you buy Railway Empire 2 make sure your graphics card is powerful enough to run it. I bought the game and my computer won't play it, the card is geforce 1030. Anyway it looks like a good game, just doesn't run on my computer. I was surprised because my computer runs other mmo games like Elder Scrolls without any trouble. I guess they decided not to support my graphics card.
An improvement over the 1st game in the series. +Railroads are easier to manage and place, and the sense of scale is much more fitting. +Looks and sounds better, though a slight improvement. -I still wish you could do a search for certain routes akin to Transport Fever (Devs if you are reading please consider adding it). -DLC is on the pricey side. Overall really happy with it, it will scratch that train itch if you have it, and soothe your autism. I recommend!
Felt like I was playing a 10 year old game. The visuals are horrible, game mechanics are good but presentation is poor.
absolut Klasse !
At the moment this game is fundamentally broken. Click on a city station - it says there are in excess of 500 passengers and 500 pieces of mail waiting to be picked up - an express train arrives and 0 passengers or mail is loaded onto the train, despite that train going to all possible destinations. Click on a resource, it says it produces over 16 trucks worth a week, yet the train is waiting in excess of 4 weeks to load 4 trucks. I guess American math is different from the maths everywhere else in the World. Also, the vast majority of trains are American, even on the UK or European maps - which is largely why I haven't bothered to buy the India DLC....American trains don't run in the UK, Europe or India in the time period this game is set in, but I guess to Americans everyone uses their stuff, when in reality they never have, never wanted to and probably never will do. Many comments compare this to RR Tycoon....and I think they really need to see a shrink coz this is not even close to RR Tycoon - at least Sid knew that different areas of the world had their own trains and raw materials, and the production values quoted were exactly what was produced. He also allowed the player to select what cargo trains hauled from one station to the next, rather than letting the game choose what, if anything, will be hauled. There are also issues running multiple trains on a loop of track, the signalling just doesn't work (despite a patch released in the last day or two) and it takes multiple quit/load for the game to allow multiple trains to run on the loop. Most of the achievements are also broken, it just doesn't register when you have fulfilled the criteria for most of them. If your a lover of RR Tycoon you are going to be frustrated and enraged by what happens in this game, and sit there begging Sid to write a new one so we don't have to put up with the appalling wannabes.
It took RE1 and expanded upon much of the game. Overall it's a very fun and playable game just like RE1, it feels much like an improvement of the original compared to a whole new game itself but then again there's not much to reinvent about a game like this. You build a railway system....improvements in RE2 are the button to drag and drop switches based on how many tracks are being used is wonderful. RE1, you had to lay each section tirelessly every single time you made a change to any track. Laying stations is very nice too, it shows you up to eight tracks max (compared to 4 previously) and if all eight can be used based on location, city buildings in the way, etc. The track snap function seems improved as well, not as many red sections, the game parameters I suppose have been improved making auto-snap track laying much easier. There's also a little clone button that pops up after you lay the first connecting segment to auto-place parallel tracks up to the eight available. Very handy so, again, you don't have to lay them manually. Just makes the track building experience more enjoyable and less blah especially when redesigning track segments as you grow. Train personnel are also handled somewhat autonomously in RE2, you set the percentages for payment of staff as a whole, you don't hire and manage / assign individual people with individual skills. I find this to be a very big improvement. The research tree, business, locations, trains and options all seem to be a near clone of RE1. You're also able to play the entire US map or regions like in RE1, so long as your hardware can handle a system that large, it's very enjoyable. I forsee many fun hours in RE2.
I had to recheck to see when this game was launched. Controls and UI seems to be made back in the Sid Meier's golden age, in the 90's. But worse. Really worse. It was a very bad UX. Definitely not for me.
Honestly, i hated the game at first, it was too different from No.1 which i loved. Took me about 6 months to actually really enjoy it, now i love it, although i only have 2 scenarios left so really need either more maps or No. 3 lol.
