“I’ll just try it.” — Me, 190+ hours ago I’ve played Railway Empire, so I thought I knew what logistics games were about. Turns out… I had no idea. This game starts innocent: 1. Build a route 2. Move some goods 3. Make a little money Next thing you know - it’s 2 AM!!! oh boy i missed my sleep again 😂 You’re fixing one tiny bottleneck and suddenly your entire network feels perfect. I’m 190+ hours in, and I still find new ways to improve things. No stress. No rush. Just that “yes… this works” feeling and then suddenly i see new issue that can become more than just challenging. If you’re new to the genre — don’t worry. This game teaches you without yelling at you (not sure when playing against AI). You will say “just one more route” and You will not just be wrong becuase you will suddenly see traffic jams blocking your city growth, that's when you become a baby planner. You just levelled up and yet there are infinite level of optimizations waiting for you. Wow you actually made this far reading my review - Go ahead and try your style of planning.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game is too simple compared to alternative railway simulator games. It gets "figured out" in an hour and then becomes boring with no challenge present. The tech tree isn't affecting anything and is simply bunch of bonuses that you acquire with the time. There are no interesting or impactful decisions to be made. Overall, I regret purchasing it
Latest update cause the wagons to be invisible. Without wagons, a train game is ridiculous. Can't recommend anyone before fix this.
Not a bad game for a railroad tycoon style game. But be prepared to work through and live with bugs that haven't been fixed in a while.
This is a step down from the previous version. First, no random maps. That is a step backward. You get two very large maps (Europe and USA) that you are allowed to prune down in to 4 smaller maps. You never get to choose which cities go in which map. The graphics are not that great of an improvement but they are not bad. I could not get past setting up my first train. The camera would zoom either too far or too close and there seemed to only be 4 levels of zoom. Very frustrating. I have 100's of hours in the first Railway Empire. So the signals were not a new concept. But these RWE2 signals. I couldn't figure out what the signals were or what they were supposed to do. The in-icon make no sense. Placing them was impossible. This is where I gave up and said #$%@ this game. This game is the only game I've purchaseed in the last 2 years that I've regretted. So I don't know about anything about the game past that. It takes an amazing kind of incompetence to do that. Railway Empire 2 seems to be the products of incompetent DEI (are there any other kind?) hires and was signed off on by and even more incompetent administrator.
There are some great mechanical upgrades from the first game, but it's just... not fun. The scenario objectives force a pace that's unenjoyable, and achieving later ones on time frequently requires a precise plan from the very start. The tech tree has been simplified and isn't fun to explore; upgrades are simply linear. They've got the bones of something good, but the end result just... isn't.
Schade.
Not much content. Only 5 scenarios. Not much improvements over the first one.
