Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.5/day in the week to Jul 21 → 0.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I've been looking for a modern day successor to this game and find myself coming back to Railroad Tycoon 3. No game in 23yrs has been able to combine transportation + economic sim + business management aspects better than RRT3... fortunately or unfortunately...
TLDR: Excellent Game, but Buyer Beware
Railroad Tycoon 3 is old enough to drink. It was made for computers that have been outdated for quite some time. Because of its age and niche popularity, 2K has made no effort to support the game or update it for modern systems. I've played this on two computers so far. On one, it ran without issue; on the other, it took minimal troubleshooting to get it to actually run. You'll probably want to pass on this one if you don't feel like doing that. It's not a certainty, but it is a risk. If you can get the game to work, It's one of the best tycoon games out there.

Game no longer works after upgrades of windows. Dont bother paying for this. Happy to change review once this issue is resolved. Unable to play for last year. Support is not much help either.
Still works if you dowload the fix https://www.gamepressure.com/download/railroad-tycoon-3-vistaw7w8w11-mod/za14c99
My favorite game of all time, was literally playing it last night, this morning, STEAM UPDATE BRICKED THE GAME!!! I AM BEYOND PISSED, maybe steam isn't a great idea, where is my exe file? why are my troubleshooting options so limited, my hands are literally tied because I purchased this game through steam.
everything and they should remake the exact version
Game holds up after many years. I played this elementary and middle school, and now as I pursue my masters, I still love it
Doesnt work worth ♥♥♥♥ and the user interface is horrible, little control over anything
Kind of broken on Windows but works great on Linux. Good strategy and management elements with nice graphics that still hold up
The economy simulation is very fun, even if the graphics are dated. Look up a tutorial for fixing the crashes and resolution and afterwards it runs fine even on Windows 11
