grindy but fun

I really like this game. I used to love this game, but tbh: ESC menu doesn't pause, and there's no reduction to hunger/water if you're idle, so anytime I have to go to the bathroom or something, I end up dying to starvation/thirst, and that outright deletes 2/3rds of my inventory (doesn't drop), and after having that happen 3 times, I find the fast death really, really irritating and I've just decided to stop playing. Everything else about the game, I enjoy, but as a solo player who has stuff come up that demands my attention, having no way to pause mid-game and the really steep outright deletion of my inventory is just too steep a punishment for having to step away for a few minutes. It's a shame because this is an AMAZING game to just chill out and play, except now chilling out and playing gets you a really really steep punishment, since every single death that deletes 2/3rds of my inventory has, without fail, deleted every single item of food, water, and tool, and weapon, and any kind of metal ingot or whatever, and left behind plastic and leaf, the two resources most overabundant. So, yes, it's a great game, but I can't stand to play it with this absurd inventory deletion.
