quadrant is a difficult rhythm game with trippy animations that get more and more intense, the better you play.

Super sad as this was fun in the past
It's addictive. Once you understand how to do it, you just can't stop. I spent hours, no, days playing this. Really.

As this game is currently it's unplayable for me, how to play is too poorly explained, the calibration is very hard to get right, and never feels right, I think there needs to be a way to put in negative delay. All in all, very good idea, but needs more polish as it is currently. I will be trying this game later.
This is a fun and simple game, within interesting visuals and cool music. It's nice to see a new type of rhythm game. However, being a rhythm game enthusiast, there is one thing I can barely bear: Streak scoring. Your score for each level is your highest streak, meaning that if you miss a single note halfway through the stage (which is almost always the case), you're fated to get a C rank or lower. You could simply chalk this up to difficulty, but missing one note out of five hundred at the wrong time can feel random and unfair. For instance, I'm currently looking at an end screen: 393/399 hit, 92% accuracy. Not bad, right? Nope, it's an E rank. Compounding this, It's difficult to get started in the game because the training system is rather misleading. The Streak training (the default) is NOT what you would normally see in the game; the Rhythm training is much closer to the actual experience. Once it clicks, though, you'll suddenly be able to beat the first level. One last point of contention is the level editor, or rather, the lack of one. Creating a level basically means creating a Lua script that draws the game board every frame. This allows for very flexible level design, but makes it nearly impossible for someone who doesn't already know how to program to make levels for it. It's no wonder that there's only one level in the workshop, and it's very simple compared to the built-in levels. Despite these flaws, the game itself is quite fun. The mechanics are simple: Look at the small square, and press the corresponding key on the beat that it becomes the big square. As the levels progress, interesting effects are added on which tempt your eyes away from the squares. The music and effects are well chosen, and are definitely worth the difficulty of getting a C rank on the previous level to experience. All in all, a small fun game that's certainly worth $4. I'm designing a level myself and I'm also planning on making a video guide for non-programmers, so maybe we can get that workshop level count up. (Edit: After writing this, I noticed this game is apparently about "human adaptation to strange environments." That's still no excuse for using a terrible scoring metric, Undef.)
this game is awesome! great music and trippy effects hard to keep the focus on the square when the visuals getting sick. :D
I don't usually play many punishing action games, but Quadrant is so mesmerizing! It's like enforced meditation (the more you stop thinking and get in the "zone" the better you play, and it feels really good when you do.) Each level is hard at first, but then you start to get it...and then the crazy animations start! It's a great mix of challenge, relaxation, frustration, excitement, and wanting to try that level one more time! And such simple but awesome visuals that go great with the music. Looking forward to future levels! (I've played the game a bit in IRL venues, so more hours then those listed here. Speaking of which, if at all possible you should play this on a large screen/projector with speakers! And with buttons in an arcade console, but that's only gonna happen if you find yourself in Berlin, or the game makes its way into some arcades. :) )
awsome.
