Pyre

The gameplay is cool, the art is beautiful, and music is great. But the UI, travelling, upgrade and item management, and all the other stuff between matches makes it a slog. I like the characters and the world, but the pacing of the visual novel segments is just too slow with too much filler.

Sadly this is the first Supergiant Games i dont link. Ofc you have the classic art design that i gorgeos but the gameplay is just a sportsgame with too much dialogues for nothing...

Pyre is painful at times. I got bogged down in slow visual novel story telling and dragging the caravan around the world map. Supergiant Games has a cornel of an idea here - but the pacing killed it for me. "I don't care, just let me play" was a common sentiment during my short time with the game. It had potential but the constant story telling killed it for me.

Довольно необычная концепция про местный лимб-чистилище, куда ссылают всех неугодных с одним единственным шансом на амнистию – играть в местные ритуалы, которые прославляют богов. Конечно же, у каждого свое болезненное прошлое и свои мотивы для возвращения в мир реальный. И не обязательно это можно сказать только про спутников нашего главного героя. Напротив, отдельные из них даже не очень и хотят туда – им важнее местная движуха со своими новыми друзьями и соратниками. Pyre – довольно редкая игра, где сложно найти для себя причины, чтобы не вернуться в местный мир, перепроходя это чудо на иной манер. Не самое известное детище уже именитой студии, но, для меня – самое, наверное, любимое. Первичное непонимание всего происходящего и того, как визуальную новеллу смешивают с довольно репетативным геймплеем вполне может отпугнуть. Как и сама форма ритуалов, которые или слишком легкие, или ты включаешь местные модификаторы сложности и пытаешься хоть как-то выиграть. Если после Hades решили ознакомиться с другими играми студии – вам сюда. Ну или в Transistor, но это уже совсем другая история.

All the great character writing and lore in the world can't save a game with ass for gameplay. The controls are wonky, abilities don't seem to work the way they should, the entire aura mechanic is weighted towards the enemy, the story emphasize cammraderie and teamwork and being a 3 person team but you actually spend most games with 2 or fewer players, races are wildly unbalanced (speed>everything). You're better off watching someone else's playthrough on youtube.
