Words can't describe how much I love this game, but hours can
game has gotten terribly glitchy. hint arrow disappears and indicator for whose turn it is is flashing rapidly
It's a decently entertaining game, probably one the best when it comes to Match 3 that I've played. having an opponent can add a surprising amount of depth. That said, the AI cheats so much it's not even funny. They will just whip out multiple extra turn chains out of absolutely nowhere. Also, the Spell Resistance mechanic is absolutely awful and ruins your possible strategy. These things make it feel like nothing but pure luck and leave the game in this weird state where it's neither casual enough to be mindless fun, but it also punishes you for actually trying to take it seriously, which is incredibly frustrating..

Its a really fun game. I love it so much
I beat this game years ago. I love it so much!
i should not have to download external crap to run this game
I'd rather recommend Bejeweled or Hunie Pop, unless you really want both lenghty progression and low skill ceiling (easy to get back on after not playing for a while).
Questionably-implemented variety
Despite RPG elements, most of the gameplay consists in the same primary match-3 PvE mode, which can feel repetitive and shallow despite the various build possibilities. There are different modes, but they are implemented questionably :

To capture an enemy, you have to solve a puzzle, a set amount of gems layed out so you have to clear them without any leftover.
To "learn" a spell, you have to solve a solo round : Endless gems, no opponents, you need to clear a set amount of each gem category, and retry if there's no possible move left before then.
You're basically forced through modes that you might not have asked for in order to unlock helpful assets, which can be frustrating. Bejeweled and Hunie Pop feature various "modes" as well, but do so in more clever ways :

Bejeweled itself is a collection of game modes, and you're free to play or avoid any.
Hunie Pop repeatedly cycles through modes, accustoming players to variation.

Various frustrating aspects
Beside the match-3 part, there are things that got me frustrated :

Skill points can't be reset. The game hints at the better stats for a class by making them less expensive, but without prior game knowledge, you can't tell what kinds of builds you will use.
Capturing / spell learning forces you to play side modes.
Many helpful assets that are available in the present requires to specifically seek for them, so fights might drag on because you didn't assemble a proper build :

Shops regularly update their stock with random pools of items, so you might not know of helpful ones
Crafting materials are scattered at every minor location, but you only know their properties (yellow bonus? Life bonus?) once you obtain them, or by wiki.
Capturing an enemy (requiring to beat 3 of its type first) yields the *eligibility* to their spells. Here again, you might miss the ones you need.

As you walk around, enemies spawn on roads, and you have to beat them in order to pass. They can seemingly only be avoided with a high-level mount, and are generally a waste of time.
Very fun game if you like puzzle games. Very creative and entertaining.
Basic beginning version of what became a match-3 empire.
