TL;DR
Feels like baby's first 2D platformer in unity but without a matching price tag. I received the game as a joke gift from a friend years ago and am very glad I did because I would be mad if I paid $20USD for this. It is intended to be a rage game but in practice comes off as a 48h game jam product with little polish.
The Good
The level design is inspired by Syobon Action (commonly dubbed "Cat Mario" outside of Japan) and in most of the levels Pukan Bye Bye does a decent job of emulating the unexpected trolls from SA. I guess the menu buttons work?
The Bad/Annoying
The horizontal movement acceleration is sluggish and jumping is an attempted rip from Hollow Knight. Horizontal momentum is not preserved when jumping off of moving platforms and walking onto moving vertically moving platforms frequently shoots the player upwards about 4x higher than a regular jump. Pushing boxes/jump pads is jittery on the ground and made even worse on moving platforms since they do not move with the platform, and will move against the player when rapidly tapping on moving platforms. They are also very jittery on vertical moving platforms, but this behavior is only meaningfully encountered once or twice. Hitboxes are a nightmare. You can jump on the head of specific enemies to pogo jump, but if you don't land directly on the head you will pass right through the enemy and die. It is somehow worse than most flash games out there that use only 3 or 5 points on the sprite for hitbox checking. On many levels, the surprise popup spikes have hitboxes that peek through the ground, necessitating a jump even after having retracted into the ground. Dying resets GROUND enemies and boxes but everything else in the level including jump pads, flying enemies, moving platforms, etc. remain as they were when you died. This often doesn't make a difference and can make some levels easier, but in several other levels it also makes them impossible to complete without manually fully restarting the level. It honestly feels like the developer tested levels without any hazards, or just didn't care enough to fix this issue. There are no in-game settings to adjust the volume or accessibility features for those sensitive to motion or deeply saturated colors. Graphics are meh. You can just look at the trailer/screenshots, it doesn't get any better than that. Keybinds cannot be rebound. The chosen keys are alright I guess, but the specific type of jump implemented does not lend well to the spacebar. A smaller and lighter key would have been nicer in my opinion. Achievements register together in groups instead of when they were actually earned and many users complain about not receiving level 8's achievement. Not sure how I managed trigger it on my replay in 2023 but not my initial play in 2018.
Conclusion
Overall my biggest complaint is probably the price. If it were just a dollar or two then it wouldn't leave such a bad taste but instead it's $20USD for around 2 hours of annoyance at the movement design and poor level restarting.

This Game isn't worth a minute of your time you'd have more fun playing unfair mario or sonic
A Playful Frenzy of Whimsical Destruction - Exploring Pukan Bye Bye Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) Pukan Bye Bye dashes onto the gaming scene as a zany and chaotic adventure that embraces the joy of destruction with a lighthearted twist. With its vibrant visuals and simple mechanics, the game offers a burst of mindless fun that can be enjoyed in short bursts. While it succeeds in delivering a dose of whimsical mayhem, it falls short in terms of depth and longevity. Visually, Pukan Bye Bye revels in its cartoonish and colorful design, reflecting its playful and carefree nature. The game's environments are a mishmash of quirky settings, each filled with objects and structures ripe for destruction. The art style lends itself well to the game's premise, making the act of causing chaos oddly satisfying. Gameplay centers around the core mechanic of launching Pukan characters towards structures, causing them to topple and crumble in a satisfying chain reaction. The controls are simple and intuitive, with the game's mechanics relying on timing and precision. The physics-based destruction adds an element of strategy, as players aim to maximize the chaos with each shot. Pukan Bye Bye's charm lies in its ability to provide quick bursts of mindless fun. The sense of satisfaction that comes from successfully causing an elaborate chain reaction of destruction is undeniable. The game's straightforward and approachable mechanics make it a great choice for casual gaming sessions or moments when you're looking for a playful diversion. However, the game's simplicity is both its strength and its limitation. While the initial enjoyment of causing destruction is engaging, the lack of depth and variety in gameplay might lead to repetition over extended play sessions. The levels, while diverse in design, lack significant variation in terms of objectives or challenges, potentially leaving players yearning for more engaging content. In conclusion, Pukan Bye Bye is a whimsical and chaotic adventure that delivers its promise of destructive fun in a colorful and straightforward package. Its vibrant visuals and simple mechanics make it an appealing choice for casual gaming moments, offering a burst of mindless enjoyment. However, its lack of depth and repetitive gameplay might limit its long-term appeal for players seeking more complexity and variety. If you're in the mood for a playful and colorful game that lets you indulge in gleeful destruction, Pukan Bye Bye could provide an entertaining escape from reality.

😮💨i swear if theres another troll im going to smash my keyboard
TLDR: It's a ragebait platformer that is priced way to high for what it offers Pukan Bye Bye is honestly a really promising game on the outside, a simple little 2d platformer with a nice art style and a bit of challenge to it. However, the best compliment that I can give is that the music is kinda catchy, but even that gets repetitive after the first 20 minutes. Turns out this is a rage game in a similar vein to I Wanna Be The Guy or Getting Over It. It's what you'd expect from those types of games, slippery controls, cheap obstacles you have to trial and error through, and everything kills you in 1 hit. I'd pay 5 dollars at most for this game knowing what I do now, you can get much more for 20 dollars. I think the dev has potential to make a fun platformer, but completing this was honestly such a slog.
