Project Songbird

You discover through the course of playing this game that it is a personal project for the director/writer/coder. That said, the ending may or may not suit you or even feel resolved but the journey there is intense. I have played many independent horror games and a few from this creator, in particular. This game has some of the most spine-tingling moments I have ever experienced in a game (specifically regarding an enemy referred to as a "stalker"). The puzzles are challenging enough to be stimulating and easy enough to be solvable. The weakness might be the combat and some of the mechanics but this is definitely a good time. I see a lot of videos online of people finishing this within five hours but it took me significantly longer. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a good horror.

This game was just weird and the ending so disappointed

I picked this game up at Steel City Con, and it was the single best decision I made that weekend. This game moved me in a way I could not describe. I knew little to nothing about the game other then the creator loved it and was an amazing person to talk to. This game is the reason Indie games are for true gamers. The heart and soul in this story was paced perfectly, Suspense, Horror, Action, and a story to make you keep going. 10/10 will 100% get every Achievement in this game so I can experience the atmosphere 1 more time.

If you are an artist that enjoys a well-told, story-depth, horror game. This one is worth your time. I have never played a game where the Dev reaches out to pull you in, in such a captivating way. Tragedy and grief are real. Especially when it's you that loses someone you love. It brings out the worst and best in people. Doubt, confusion, a sense of feeling lost with no end in sight. All real emotions so many go through. What is of worth to you? There are 3 Acts in total. This story is tethered together to get you to listen. The symbolism is powerful. I'm genuinely blown away by the brilliance of it. The ending? Is so rewarding. I hope yall enjoy this as much as I have. It made me laugh, get flustered, scream, cry, and left me truly inspired in the end. Thankyou Connor Rush, for putting your love in a package for anyone to immerse in. 💕💕💕💕

Project Songbird is a cinematic first-person horror game following Dakota, a musician who retreats to a remote Appalachian cabin to record a new album. You explore the surrounding forest, investigate what is happening in the woods, solve puzzles, and survive long enough to finish Dakota’s story. Pros ✔️ The story feels incredibly well thought out - Small details, conversations, and changes in the world feel like they were placed with purpose, giving the story more to uncover as everything comes together. ✔️ The mechanics keep things feeling fresh - It moves between exploration, puzzles, recording music, and moments where you need to avoid or defend yourself from what is in the woods. ✔️ The emotions hit hard - The performances, music, and delivery made it easy to feel what Dakota was going through instead of simply watching the story happen. Cons ❌ Some story transitions feel abrupt - There are moments where it jumps from one scene or idea to another in a way that feels a little strange. ❌ I wanted it to be longer - I was invested enough that reaching the end felt less satisfying and more like I was not ready to leave yet. ❌ The music creation could offer more freedom - I would have liked more control over the recording portions so my version of the album could sound more personal. Conclusion I really cannot praise this game enough. You can feel how much of Conner was poured into it, and that gave the whole thing a soul that is hard to fake. It is easily one of my top games of the year, and I think it will stay with me well beyond that. Score 9/10 Recorded Tracks - The cabin went quiet, but the song followed me out of the woods.
