This game quickly became one of my favorite dream-sim-like games. A game based on Project Looking Glass immediately sparked my conspiracy curiosity. A subject matter shrouded in secrecy, that in its grand objectives, leads to wild conjecture and possibly a reality stranger than fiction. The dev really capitalized on this and told a very compelling story with vibe-drenched atmosphere, and fully voiced dread-inducing dialogue. One of the characters sounds like David Lynch, there are refences to 2001 a Space Odyssey/ Stanley Kubrick (who also has no connection with U.S. letter agencies right?), and other details/references that are for the over-thinkers. A cryptic surreal experience that is a 10/10 in my little black book.
MY FAVORITE GAME NOW I’ve been waiting for this game and it was soooo worth the wait! I love the premise, reminds me a bit of Petscop sometimes, but a real game you can actually play!! I love the story so far, I’m really enjoying exploring and discovering new places and things on the map, Putting the pieces of the story together. Right from the beginning cutscene, this game has freaked me out in the best way possible. Runs great, no issues. Really love the visual effects with the glitch/VHS vibes. You can tell a LOT of heart was put into this game! HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone and everyone. If you enjoy an eery vibe and uncovering dark secrets, this game is for you!!

I played Project Looking Glass and I have to say it I love the game aspect and premise. I went into the game not fully knowing what I was going to see but I went into the game with the information the game dev told me, I played the game and got really into the story, don’t get me wrong the Erie sounds I kept hearing in the back ground had me on edge, but it didn’t stop me from progressing forward. I really enjoyed playing as the grieving mother doing what ever she could to uncover the truth of the CIA experiment that had her daughter disappear and she was doing what ever it took to find the truth of where she is. Any issues I faced in the game the dev always read my emails and always responded and fixed, the dev also listened to my ideas and has planned to add the features I suggested. They originally reached out to me in hopes I would try there game and I’m glad I did try it because I had so much fun streaming it for my channel and getting the chance to show my audience a new upcoming game that was coming out. I want to say a massive thank you to the developer for the free steam key and I can’t wait for your next project.
I cannot speak higher about Project Looking Glass, I had an amazing time playing through the game and was constantly hooked with the various areas and story that was unfolding throughout the game. The puzzles were fun, challenging at times and rewarding throughout the game. You are required to not only go through each level but return to each with various aspects you find throughout the game which I found to be great. the art style and voice acting are fantastic throughout the game, and the story drags you in and keeps your attention throughout! Highly recommend to play this game if you are an enjoyer of horrors (P.T and Layers of fear come to mind!) 10/10
Target Audience: Those wanting an alternative story that's horror adjacent, and can put up with some scuff. Summary: There are times I really wish there were a thumbs to the side button. Project Looking Glass Has moments that will work for you from a story telling perspective, and detective story lovers will appreciate the drip feed of information here. Good sound design at certain points helps to emphasize events and give clean feedback, and the scientist voice actor does a good job of the central story teller while adding emotional weight to what's being said. The themes and story telling progression when it comes to audio/visuals do have moments that they work, particular with sound design. There's a few puzzles that I wish the game was more about, and I do like the chart system and how it influences the game. However, the walking simulator/puzzle elements aren't always helped by the visuals that don't play to the medium's stengths, in particular with detail that you'd want for a game like this. There's a lack of detail to play to the game's horror elements, and too many times you're in dark areas in a percentage to the rest of the game (as you're wandering around trying to figure out what's going on). The game does seem to be missing oompf in the big picture, and there are a couple of graphical elements that will confuse you gameplay wise if they are part of the story or puzzle or what (lightning system sometimes doesn't help this game). What makes this troubling is the ending. For me, the ending is something that undoes some of the strengths of storytelling up to that point, but I recognize that it also can be my own interpretation of events. But it missed so badly for me that it started to undo a lot of what I enjoyed from the story telling in the early going. I think this is strictly in how it's presented and what is considered the main antagonist, and logical inconsistencies that made it feel like this ending was more tacted on to make the game finish on a more “substantial note” Honestly, what saves this game in the end is the price, but please note that there are other experiences that you can get for similar dollar amounts/pay a little more for substantially more. It's definitely not for everyone, and if the game doesn't sound interesting to you on the surface, it's definitely a pass. Review Video: : https://youtu.be/oMCNVC20EJw Lists: Positives:

Some puzzles have aha moments that are clever but also make sense in the big picture
Some of the scenes do work well to sell the situation, and can be visually interesting.
Male Scientist/Doctor does a great job from a voice acting perspective.
Story does a good job of progressing with reasonable information without being giving too much away. Starts like what you'd hope a “detective (aka figure this out)” story would.
Negatives:

Game's conclusion strikes out in ways that affected the enjoyment of the prior element of the game.
Inconsistencies then develop from story that don't sell the overall experience.
Game's graphical fidelity does fall short at several points to emphasize the unease/horror, while leading to some moments that take you out of the experience. I can see a version of this game with better visuals that strikes a lot stronger then it does.
For a game in the astral plane, there's an odd amount of time in dark corridors.
Lighting engine feels like it's being used incorrectly, with lights going through elements, or sometimes things feeling too bright/too dark.
Horror elements/visuals are very inconsistent. At times they are subtle, then you get a goofy looking ghost that doesn't seem to fit.
If you want more reviews/information regarding games I've reviewed, visit my curator. This was an insanely good and, as I'm writing this review, insanely underrated game. It's so unique and experimental in some ways, but far from boring. There's so much to read into while playing the game and a story to uncover, done in a way that feels really interactive and creepy. The game is definitely more psychological horror, focusing on existential dread, the universe, infinity
death,
etc. but that's one of my favorite subgenres so I had a blast. Can't wait to see more projects from this (solo! very impressive) dev.
Play the game, ignore the demo otherwise you will have experienced like 80% of the game already. That was a bit disappointing but MORPH made something interesting with this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAVBoapZhHM Hidden gem of game with great voice acting and a good story. AI usage for voice acting is not very noticeable at least to me but that AI photo of our family at least I am pretty sure it is, is definitely noticeable. Project Looking Glass also relies more on creepy atmosphere than jumpscares and so on which is nice considering its a bit refreshing to have something new out of the countless indie horror games I have played. I really liked the environments too and how everything looked as well. If you are looking for something interesting then I would recommend this game especially since its only $5
Project Looking Glass is one of those games that sticks with you long after you put it down. First, the atmosphere is incredible: it constantly builds a sense of mystery and unease that kept me wanting to uncover what was around the next corner while simultaneously making me feel terrified to look. The atmosphere is beautifully dark and I loved how it felt like I was playing on an old-school cathode monitor. I found the pixelated graphics nostalgic, yet deeply unsettling at times. Rather than relying on jump scares, it creates tension through its world, storytelling, and the feeling that something is always just out of sight. The story was easily the highlight for me. It slowly reveals itself in a way that kept me invested from beginning to end, rewarding exploration and attention to detail. I found myself thinking about the game's story the morning after I played it, which is always a sign that a story has done something right. It confronts difficult topics of grief and loss in a beautiful way, but viewer discretion is advised as it is quite dark. In terms of gameplay mechanics, there is not a lot of hand-holding. There is not much in the way of a tutorial, which may be confusing for some players, but I think most will be able to figure out what to do, as the game does a good job of guiding you through the different levels without giving too much away. This game does require some brainpower, and I found myself scratching my head at times (which I personally like!). Backtracking through different areas never felt redundant because they change based on your story progression, so it always felt like there was something new to discover. The game is best enjoyed with a controller, and I could agree more. I would recommend playing this with a controller, but playing with keyboard and mouse is possible. If you enjoy atmospheric games that prioritize immersion, mystery, and environmental storytelling, I think Project Looking Glass is absolutely worth checking out. This is truly a piece of art disguised as a game.
