POTENTIAL MAN

In brief, Potential Man is a short visual novel about one hour long. Despite it's length, it talks about deep topics, whilst also being very comedic. Personally, I am in LOVE with the characters. How they are designed and how they interact with eachother is charming. They have depth in design, but are also funny nonetheless. You might see others not appreciating the ending, but I also personally found it really bold, impacting and has lots of (implicit) meaning. Loved this game, has a lot of potential <3

I thought about the potential to stream this and play it with my friends. That potential was not wasted and we had a lot of fun ^^ It was nice seeing references to RainingKetchup's previous work. (Still gotta play Captain Wayne...)

Let me start with... It's fun! It's a good time, especially if you have a friend or two to watch and voice the characters with you. As short as it is, the characters are very well written and fleshed out! You want to see them succeed, and feel good and bad for them, and so on. It's very short, less than an hour if you're not shooting for 100%, and is totally worth the $4 price tag. It's well illustrated, and is very topical and not exactly afraid to speak its mind. On top of that, it's a pretty funny game - It got a few good laughs out of me. The soundtrack, as well, is very nice, with a lot of music (and an in-game music player if you want to listen to them later.) All around, a well written, funny experience. My only complaint with the game is the achievements that are only unlockable through random chance, i.e. A TRIO OF TWIGS and CRUSH IT. 8.5/10

...I know some people might find it short, that the game seems cut off and very linear, but what I will say about this game is, it did its job. The potential outcomes that could've happened, how it could've been different between the two... that's kinda the whole idea, right? Believing what can be different, but at base, these two characters have flaws. The Acorn Man is unfeeling, has only one goal in mind, and has had his knowledge passed down onto himself upon BIRTH. While Murphy? He has simple goals, he's content where he is, but is not content with what he's achieved (at least that's how I see it), but he has people to rely on. You wish it could've been any other way, and you know it can, it could've been so easy, but no. Between the two, it was assured from the very start. The Acorn Man was himself from the very beginning, he was straightforward and knew his goal was within his grasp. He was even patient with Murphy, and you expected him to change? Maybe, potentially even. The way I see it, Murphy was already talking to the tree, not just an acorn, not just another person, but a tree that's waiting for its potential. Anyways um, its a good game to learn from all this. I appreciate what this game has taught me, even if it might not be exactly what the devs want me to learn from this, but I find it great nonetheless. I knew I could trust the devs to make this game great, and I'm more than glad this was the product. Its fine to feel that disappointment, because that's what missed potential is, right? Its always if only somehow, someway... Life is about the journey. Not its end, or to produce life. It could've been easy, but it was never going to be like that from the start.
