Very fun game and works well on the Steam Deck via Proton Experimental. Controlling the ship might be frustrating at first (and I believe it’s intended) until you get some upgrades. Already finished it on the N. Switch a while ago and I couldn’t resist playing it on the SD as well. I wish it had Cloud Save support, more funny dialogue between the country balls and better controller support (although that can be tweaked in settings). Overall, I can’t recommend this game enough - it’s short, fun and cheap. I hope Pollen will embark other adventures in the future.
Unfortunately, not worth your time. The first hour of the game is straight grind. After that, you'll have finally upgraded your ship to something that can maneuver about as well as a toilet, and begin to think about Polen into Space. But that "Amazing End Movie" cinematic for beating the game? It's nearly nothing. Earning coins for achieving a new altitude would've been a good design that's missing. As-is there's no reason to get higher until your toilet ship can begin to think about making it to the moon. Save yourself 3 or 4 hours and watch the animation of the original comic strip that inspired this game instead. Or play one of the better Polandball games out there: literally any of them.

I had $40 in steam bucks burning a hole in my pocket. My overseas friend recommended Bang on Balls: Chronicles. When he was describing the game, he mentioned the word "polandball" and I assumed the game was called Polandball. After some abbot and costello like miscommunication misadventures, I bought this game twice, one for me and one for him. In a show of appreciation, he bought me Kingdom Come Deliverance, only to then realize that I had bought the wrong game. So in a way, I scammed my friend and got a better game out of it. oh this game is awful, don't play it.
While it's a recommendation, it's more of a neutral for me personally. While the humor is good, and the game doesn't take itself remotely seriously (which i appreciate, it was a nice break), it's also a LOT grindier than it really needs to be. Getting money is solely on picking up coins while in flight (or hitting germany/swiss), which makes actually going high up both prohibitively difficult and unrewarding, which feels like the opposite of what you'd want in a game about... going high up. The core concept is sound, and the charm is there, but the actual game is a lot longer and harsher than it should've been IMO, and would've been an immediate recommendation if it wanted you to farm even half as much money. As it is, though, if you've got patience and enjoy the core concept it's decent fun, otherwise, it might be a bit too long to be fun if your goal is getting to the end.
I like it.
Polandball: Can into Space! by Alien Pixel Studios is a charming and uniquely humorous indie arcade game that transforms the beloved Polandball internet meme into a playful space exploration adventure. The game centers around guiding the titular Polandball on its ambitious journey to the moon, combining lighthearted storytelling with simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics. From the moment you launch your modest rocket, the game invites you to dive into an experience that balances resource management, customization, and engaging encounters with other countryballs, all wrapped in a quirky and meme-inspired aesthetic. The core gameplay loop revolves around progressively building and upgrading your rocket as you soar through space. Starting with a basic, barely-functional spacecraft, players collect various resources and unlock more than 50 unique items and 30 perks that significantly influence the rocket’s performance. This upgrade system is surprisingly deep for an indie title, allowing players to experiment with different combinations and strategies to optimize their flight and overcome obstacles. The joy of discovery is heightened by the game’s unpredictability—every launch presents a new challenge, whether it’s navigating dangerous space debris or contending with rival countryballs. Speaking of adversaries, one of the game’s standout features is the inclusion of 25 different countryballs, each bringing their own distinct AI behaviors and quirks into the mix. These AI-controlled entities act as both competitors and obstacles, adding a layer of strategic tension to the otherwise straightforward space journey. Their unpredictable movements and attacks require players to stay alert and adapt their tactics mid-flight, keeping the gameplay dynamic and fresh. This blend of competition and chaos perfectly captures the spirit of the Polandball meme, where national stereotypes and humor collide in playful conflict. Visually, the game embraces a minimalist and cartoonish art style that remains true to its meme origins. The simple, expressive designs of the countryballs and rocket parts convey personality without overwhelming detail, creating a light and approachable atmosphere. The user interface is intuitive, ensuring that players can easily manage upgrades and monitor their rocket’s status without distraction. Complementing this visual simplicity is a witty and irreverent sense of humor, expressed through dialogue and in-game text laced with memes and casual swearing, which adds charm and character to the overall experience. Replayability in Polandball: Can into Space! comes from the variety of upgrades, the randomness of encounters, and the ever-present challenge of reaching the moon. Collectibles such as coins, fuel, burgers, and magnets further enrich the gameplay, encouraging exploration and strategic resource use during each flight. While the game’s premise might sound simple, the layered mechanics and unpredictable events make every attempt feel unique and engaging. This encourages players to keep refining their builds and tactics, providing satisfying long-term motivation. Overall, Polandball: Can into Space! is an endearing and enjoyable indie game that cleverly combines humor, strategy, and arcade-style gameplay. It stands out by taking a well-known internet meme and crafting an experience that’s accessible to a wide range of players while still offering enough depth to hold the attention of more dedicated gamers. Fans of Polandball culture and those looking for a casual yet engaging space-themed adventure will find much to love here, making it a memorable and worthwhile addition to the indie gaming scene. This is a hard but great game!
Fun little game, but be warned that your save data is only local, and is not transferred via cloud. Found this out the hard way when I downloaded it on a new laptop to get the couple of achievements I didn't have. Some references are slightly outdated (as it's been 7 years, duh), and there's only 2 dozen different countries. So, why the positive review? Gameplay is slightly grindy, but nice nonetheless. Similar to mobile games. The references and designs of the countryballs in the game are well-done. There's a singular song, but it's alright to listen to on repeat (for like 20 minutes) It's worth the 3 dollars if you're a fan of polandball / countryballs. If you're waiting for a sale, it hasn't happened in 18 months...
Ta gra umarła 6-7 lat temu :/. Ale spoko jest.
Ein richtig süßes Spiel für Zwischendurch!
