Can't even play it, even after trying to run different compatibility settings, the game still plays at 1 FPS. To give you an idea, it took me 16mn just to get to the menu to check if there was an option to try in there to solve my problem. I have the exact same problem with 3/5 of the Midnight Mysteries series: - Devil on the Mississippi - Haunted Houdini - Witches of Abraham DEVELOPERS HAVE ABANDONNED THEIR GAME, THEY DON'T ANSWER TO PEOPLE WHILE SOME ARE ASKING FOR HELP SINCE 2013 !!! PS: I'm aware of the controller trick, but nobody should be forced to own a controller if the dev were doing their freaking job. Those games deserve a report and to be taken away from Steam, right now they are making money with bugged games which can't run on most computers since day 1. There is a name for that, it's called a scam.

Maybe the best hidden objects game. The gameplay is very easy and fun. 10/10
As someone who enjoys going to pawn shops and op shops for second hand items, I actually really enjoyed this game.
Entertaining. This is an HO game inspired in TV shows like American Pickers. Basically is mostly the same as that show. You go to different locations, complete missions, find valuable items that you later can restore, sell in your shop or put them for auction. As expected, you need to finish the game as the richest top-dog in the business. No bugs or crashes. Works fine on Win 7. If you always wanted to be one of those dudes that make a living finding treasure in the thrash but just can't stand the dirt and the bugs, you might like to play this. It includes achievements and it has good replay value.
Overall, Pickers is a decent way to waste an afternoon. I would not recommend buying this game at full price; wait for a sale event and get it for maybe $5 or something instead. It has low replay value because the only random factor is the Hot topic of the day, all of the items spawn in the same locations in every game.
Pickers
...is a hidden object game. Travel across the United States to visit various collectors and hoarders, bargaining for items with which to turn a profit.
⚙ Game Description & Mechanics ⚙
You visit different areas looking for items to purchase. Each item is part of a specific category: Military Memorabilia, Kitchen Appliance, Furniture, Sports Collectible, and more. Some items will be in perfect shape, some will require investments to restore them, and some will be incomplete and will need to be paired with another item to maximize the resale value. You can acquire 7 items per day to bring back to your store to restore, evaluate, sell or auction off. Each day, there are top categories of items that are considered hot, and you get a cash bonus if all items acquired that day are hot. While every area you visit is filled with trinkets you can pick up, drop down or purchase, every area will offer the traditional hidden object puzzle: a screenful of clutter, among which you must find a specific list of items. Upon completing the puzzle, you get an item for free, likely (but not assuredly) an item from the hot category. Those zones do not fill back up, and after a few days of doing the same puzzle, they will be emptied of items and stop being available. You pick between different play modes: the Regular mode consists of a 30-day challenge during which you try to make the most profit, the Zen mode allows you to take as much time as you want to gradually empty every zone of items for sell, and the Advanced and Expert modes where you compete against other pickers.
☺ What I enjoyed ☺
It's a very different take on the genre than the usual story driven point & click story. At first, you have three zones you can visit, and more will unlock up to a total of 12 as you play longer, each controlled by a different owner with which to negotiate. The success of your negotiation depends on how many items you're purchasing, the owner's attitude towards you, and your own prestige (which goes up as you gain experience from successfully buying, selling and auctioning items). Offering more than the asking price will improve your relation, while being too stingy will negate it. There is a lot more replay value in this game than any of the usual Hidden Object games. The multiple game modes, the random nature of the daily hot item category, the random free item you get from completing a hidden object puzzle, the unexpected results of auctions or store sales, these all contribute to achieve a different financial outcome with each playthrough, and you will likely play multiple times to complete the various challenges or achievements.
☹ What bothered me ☹
While I praised it as a replay incentive, I find that a bit too much of your success is based on randomized or obscured mechanics. There's no clear way to calculate just how much prestige will help your negotiations. Each owner is supposed to have a different degree of difficulty to negotiate with, but it is unclear. One owner's temperament bar went from red to green by offering a mere few dollars above asking price, while the same owner's bar barely nudged at all from offering hundreds more. It all seems to be down to luck, making it hard to optimize. There seems to be little rhyme or reason for the price of some items, no logic. I can understand why vintage collectibles can have value, but I don't see why a piece of modern kitchen appliance or hardware tool found in the trunk of a rusty car carcass in the middle of a scrapyard would be worth several times any real-time value. Can you imagine paying hundreds of dollars for a secondhand screwdriver and auctioning it for twice as much?
Verdict: ★★★☆☆ - "It's up to you."
While I tend to enjoy the fantastical or otherworldly stories of Hidden Object games, it was a very nice change of pace to find one I could go back to again and again for a while. Pickers might not have the complexity or production value necessary to get a high rating, but I recommend it nonetheless. ————————————————————————— This was just my opinion. If you found this review helpful, please consider giving it a thumbs up, and feel free to check out more of my (purely opinionated) reviews.
wish there were more games like this.
Interesting take on the classic hidden object genre, where you buy the items that you find on the scenes and you sell or auction them afterwards in your store. Your goal is, of course, to make the maximum profit from every item that you buy. There is a huge variety of them, from simple clocks to one of a kind (and very pricey) items, such as a William Shakespeare's manuscript. The items are sorted in certain categories and every day different categories are listed as hot and give the most profit. The downsides of this game are its almost complete lack of voice overs and its price.
This game is basically a hidden object game meets one of those TV shows where they buy and sell used stuff/antiques. Don't really have much to say other than it is an interesting concept but could have been executed a bit better and it gets repetitive after a while but overall not a bad game. I had to play through it twice to get all the achievements but I am sure you can get away with playing it once if you try hard enough. It works without any issues on Linux with Proton (6.3-7).
