On a sultry night in late August, I ran into a man carrying a peony lantern at the Mid-Lake Pavilion. In the hazy and dim light, the man told the odd and bizarre stories. Under the overcast rainy sky, the moon setting horizontally, you will be brought into a perplexing, weird, and supernatural world

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 17 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Beautiful and outstanding game, had so much fun playing it, crazy good visuals and sound track. My favorite thing about this visual novel is that there is multiple different stories inside of the main story. It makes us think about what is going on and the stories have a deeper meaning than what it seems like in the beginning. Also, I would like to mention that it made me so happy that English language is supported since i really enjoyed some of the previous games released by the same developer which unfortunately didn't have English language supported. Overall rating 10/10 would highly recommend ♡
The stories are too tedious to finish. I only started reading because I was drawn to its ancient Chinese art style, but unfortunately, the art also disappointed me. I regret purchasing it and would say that reading it was a bit of a waste of time.
希望致意能有端木斐的续作!
The Ratman story is the only reason I disliked this game. What makes you think Try & Error is fun in games? You simply have to start over again and again and it was torturing after a few attempts.
I really like the concept of a short story collection with different styles and feel to each one. Slow paced and linear (except for the Ratman) really perfect to just read and go with the flow. English translation is readable but definitely could use some work here and there. Nonetheless would definitely read more of these if available.
Recommend for visual novel lover who like to have a short and relax play time. 5 short story within 2 hours playtime. 4 visual novel without choice and 1 story need to solve puzzle and discover the truth. I am buying to support developer and hope to see the duan mu fei sequence soon. If consider the game playtime and the story content, will recommend to get it during sales.

You decide to accompany him and he offers to tell you several short stories. This is where Peculiar Tales of Mid-Lake Pavilion truly starts, five stories of differing themes. - Ratman: Locked in a hydraulic press, Shu Ren finds himself with just his cell phone and a mysterious number calling him. Get 2 million yuan or get crushed. With some numbers at your disposal and more number later on, maybe you can get the money. I found this to be done in a cool way, utilizing your cell phone with limited uses in order to progress the story. Depending what numbers you dial, you can know more of Shu Ren's past or speed up your death, some information you encounter do apply in its ending. - Ghost Pagoda: After getting his bag thrown over a wall, Kitaro finds himself in the infamous ghost pagoda and encounters a Taoist priestess named Kongchan. After exiting, ominous things start to happen and he must return to the same place to find an answer. This was one of the stories that ended being one of my favorites, the characters were enjoyable, the story behind the ghost pagoda and how it intertwines the characters with each other, it was done well and in heartwarming fashion. - Mirror Room: Your friend wants to stay the night over, but once he gets in your apartment, he tells you how your furniture is in different spots, but to your knowledge, you never did such a thing. It's a neat concept for a thriller. - Xiangshi Bridge: Straying from a tour, Liu Jin makes her way to craftshop in order to use their phone. After encountering the brothers, Duanmu Fei accompanies Liu Jin to escort her back to her hotel. On the way, Liu Jin sees ethereal things with her heterochromia, some being melancholic memories for those in the area. This story was a great mix of paranormal and wholesome, with the characters' dialogues helping bring their pasts to a better future or understanding. - Midsummer Night - Last subway: After wanting to use an empty carriage in a subway, you encounter Midsummer; a girl you knew years ago. After this, you have a conversation and catching up with each other, and maybe knowing something more to the world you thought you knew. This was my 2nd favorite story, reminding me a bit like Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name", the character backgrounds and the eventual realization of what's about to happen brings a bittersweet feeling in the end. - Intro, Afterwords, and The End Although short portions, these moments help explain the moral to each story, along the end being an interesting event between you and The Storyteller's departure. 2. The art is quite nice to look at with some stories being different visually. Ratman, Xiangshi Bridge, Midsummer Night - Last Subway, and the Storyteller portions all possess some Live2d animation for the sprites, being simple but flows smoothly. The backgrounds look absolutely astounding with an enormous amount of detail, it'd make great desktop wallpapers. The character design is great too, as they stand out from each other. 3. I loved the music, they do an excellent job to create the atmosphere for the stories. Especially the more tense ones like Ratman or Ghost Pagoda, it truly brings the feeling of anxiety. The same can be said for the more calm stories such as Xiangshi Bridge and Midsummer Night - Last Subway, it evokes a friendly, homelike atmosphere along with some familiar piano music in some sections. Cons: 1. Ratman was definitely a cool concept, but with multiple deaths, you realize that story exploration is shunned upon and it pushes you more toward the straightforward path if you'd like to win, potentially leaving the clues about your life and relationships behind. 2. Mirror Room is neat storywise, but it is the lowest of all 5 stories. It ends abruptly and in the afterword, it is essentially just explained to you that a friend of the Storyteller told him this, and thus he tells it to you. It also lacks in the art as the sprites are essentially just 1 color 3D models. 3. The English translation is readable enough to get the story, but it does need some more work to be considered polished, as there are a lot of wording issues that don't make a smooth sounding sentence. Conclusion: This is a collection of 5 short stories where most of them do a great job in being short but also being not too rushed. With various art styles and gorgeous backgrounds, this truly is a visual novel where you can play at your pace, without having to worry about being too dedicated. Score: 7/10 GOOD
