About
In PARKSIDE, the future of biomechanical subterfuge and suffering is revealed through the story of Alexander Petrovich, an unemployed hacker who is kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Illuminated Brethren of Conclave Automata.
Will he bend to the will of the Brethren and aid in realizing their vision for humanity, or will he take the hand of a guardian angel? Though, no matter his choice, a sinister voice in his head warns that judgement is inevitable.
PARKSIDE is a First Person Shooter / Immersive Simulation, with a focus on freedom, choice, and consequences.
Set in the fictitious city of Abbotsford, California in the year 2038, the world the player experiences is the result of four years of shrouded meddling by the Illuminated Brethren - the environment is cold and unforgiving, the people are drab and demoralized, narcotics and gangs are rife, and military police walk the streets. How has it come to this?
Following his capture by the Brethren, Alexander is interfaced with an experimental combat platform known as POLYPHEMUS. Through a piece of technology called the Remote Combatant Viewer, he is sent to complete illicit, dangerous missions for the Brethren, whose directives come from the mysterious Divine Rod.
Many tools are at the player's disposal to tackle problems including a roster of futuristic weapons, armaments such as EMP grenades and frag mines, and abilities that can be used to navigate all manner of obstacles. You can hack or bypass keypads, security cameras, turrets, and robots... or shoot them to bits - pick your poison and run with it as you navigate smoky streets, dark alleys, airy vents, and secret bases.
Choices matter - in the secret fight for control of the precious lives of all citizens, there are many powerful stakeholders. There is one important question with many answers and outcomes: are you a servant of the Divine Rod, Alexander?

DISCLAIMER: stealth in this game feels nearly non-functional; enemies will see you at ridiculous angles (directly overhead, 20-30 feet up), through metal grates, hear you at crazy distances. THAT SAID. this game is very good, and every time i finish a mission i find another five or six routes i could've taken, mechanics i could've used to get to the end more effectively. i've already restarted once just to try another build, and it did not bother me whatsoever as someone who /hates/ replaying levels. the plot & writing is interesting enough to make me genuinely curious how many endings there are without beating it, because there's a LOT going on all at once and you have some meaty options when it comes to dialgoue with targets & world-events (doing or not doing certain quests has consequences you'll read or see about later), etcetera. it's great. i love it, beside the fact stealth sucks in a way that's not really fun to play around. 85% of the time it's working perfectly until something bizarre happens and suddently every enemy in a level is shooting at you through a wall (hyperbole but it's been close before, especially in the early levels w/ the gang warehouse).

Thought I was getting some low-poly Deus Ex type clone but instead this game is just a janky ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess. It says theres consequences but nothing I really seem to do matters because either you stealth it, or just blow everyone away. The levels are huge, blocky and frankly all feel confusing or underbaked. I love ImSims like Prey, SS, SS2, Deus Ex, and that one with the blocky cats, but this is....just awful! It reminds me more of Divine Cybermancy which tries to be fun but is instead a huge clunky mess. However, I hope the money can help the dev continue to maybe make another ImSim with skills learned from there.
This game is a hidden gem in the immersive sim genre. Lots of options on how to tackle missions, interesting story, fun abilities and weapons, etc. It has it's issues but I enjoy it immensely despite the problems.
I finished Act 1 only right now, it feels like a good game, but ♥♥♥♥ does those models look weird, it's not even texture work which is fine, but those weird proportions. And after some point game stops giving me new maps or any Intel about things I'm doing(how Boris looks? where he sits? who the hell knows, go figure it), some levels are retardedly linear(yet? I will prolly update it as I finish the game, if I finish it). Soundtrack is great and I wish to have it on my hard drive. All of the weapons are distinct, but you will not see them often as it feels, ammo for anything above 9mm is scarce and besides second level I only found .22 and 12GA in secrets. I might be retarded, but I'd like vendors in game having ammo. Stealth is broken, sometimes they don't see me in the middle of their cone of vision, sometimes they sprint to me "SPEAK WITH ME RIGHT NOW, WHO THE ♥♥♥♥ ARE YOU" across the location. But social part of stealth(you can disengage if you speak well with the guard) is great idea really, even if it's undercooked as it is. Atmosphere is great, I liked it. Levels are clever as well. It's a mixed bag which I can't really recommend, maybe later with all the fixes and maybe if they expand on some mechanics. It's in a good bundle with great game called Peripeteia, it's worth buying those 2 combined imo. Something around 7-7.5/10, even if I really liked it.
My vision is augmented *and* I can turn in to a sea scooter.
PARKSIDE: DIVINE BEER MANIPULATION
Check out the full review on 2 Headed Hero! A dirty Deus Ex-like with rough edges, a great soundtrack, and a lot of heart. The 90s-coded cyberpunk themes and I found myself just sitting back to admire the great lengths the dev must have taken to build this broken world. Each level is brimming with secret areas and crusty vibes. Alleyways infested with rats that you can pick up and place in the nearby coffee shop. Sewers flooded with impossibly blue toilet water, where massive maneating leeches await their next meal. Laser-lit dance clubs blasting endless drum and bass tracks on loop. And on top of all this, we get frantic bunny-hopping shooter combat, a huge armful of weapons to discover, loads of crazy cyborg powers, and a storyline about the morality of being conscripted into a cyber-cult. Parkside might not be perfect, but I had a great time chasing down its wild plot threads and just existing in its world for over 20 hours. Well worth it for the 451-fanatics out there that want something new and don’t mind a little bit of jank from time to time - especially at the asking price. https://youtu.be/szTq3zsBFkk
This game is better than it first appeared to me. At first, I was put off by the lack of a manual save and some general jankiness, but after a while, it clicked. The obvious comparison is Deus Ex. I also found nods to Thief, System Shock, and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory ("3490"). It knows its influences. Some notable things. (1) The metro level had me lost in the best possible way -- sprawling tunnels with interconnected stations, such a dingy environment with twisted choices to make. (2) Hidden details that really drive home the 'wrongness' of the story and setting. Some of my favorite bits of writing were in easy-to-miss text logs. I think it's worth an honest shot by those who liked the old immersive sims. (Subjective 8.5 out of 10)
Quite good game, with lots of upgrades player can take, and a design that reward exploration. It has vibe similar like cruelty squad and peripeteia, but less janky and easier on the eye. BGM may not suit your taste though ( I dont like it). The save system can also turn off most people. Basically you only get 1 save (2 if you buy an upgrade) per level. And you have to save it in specific locations. Currently on 3rd map, i would rate it 8.5/10
So far its a good game aside from some bugs but there is a lot of potential. If you like cruelty squad i recommend you give it a shot.
loving it so far! Purchased after seeing the displays of integrity from the developer in review responses. Seems they cares about the state of their game which is rare these days unfortunately. Keep up the great work :)
