очень приятная игра
A very curious sort of puzzle-adventure game. While I haven't tried the VR version (for a lack of being able to afford/set up space for VR), I think it got ported over to standard controls well enough. The visuals are captivating with the abstract paper aesthetic, and trying to work with the creatures and environment to accomplish your goal is good fun. The physics are amazing. Sandbox mode is also plenty of fun with making your own little ecosystems, but I wish there was more terrain to play with, though, along with more sorts of environments. (Underground, maybe?) Hoping the Enhanced edition upgrade gets ported over from the Playstation.
A very unique and strange physics puzzle game! I liked the designs of the creatures, I would spend the time to really getting to know their behavior and what they were made of.
Paper Beast: Folded Edition is an adventure and exploration game that confidently abandons conventional game design in favor of creativity, atmosphere, and experimentation. Developed by Pixel Reef, the studio founded by renowned game designer Éric Chahi, and published by Pixel Reef, PID Games, and Dear Villagers, the game presents players with a strange digital ecosystem populated by living paper creatures and governed by dynamic environmental systems. Rather than focusing on combat, character progression, or traditional storytelling, it invites players to immerse themselves in a surreal world where curiosity is the primary motivation for progress. The premise is deliberately abstract. Players find themselves within a mysterious realm said to have emerged from forgotten data scattered throughout the internet. This unusual setting serves as the foundation for a journey that is more emotional and interpretive than narrative-driven. Instead of delivering lengthy explanations or direct exposition, the game encourages players to discover meaning through observation. Every environment, creature, and interaction contributes to a larger sense of mystery, creating an experience that feels closer to an interactive dream than a typical adventure game. The most memorable aspect of Paper Beast is undoubtedly its extraordinary wildlife. The world is populated by creatures constructed from folded paper, cardboard, and digital fragments, yet they display surprisingly believable behaviors. Some wander peacefully through the landscape, others react cautiously to their surroundings, and many possess unique habits that make encounters feel genuinely unpredictable. Watching these creatures interact with one another often becomes as fascinating as solving the game's puzzles. Their lifelike movement and distinct personalities help transform what could have been simple visual curiosities into the emotional core of the experience. Exploration is driven by environmental interaction rather than traditional objectives. Players move through a series of interconnected locations where progress depends on understanding how various systems function. Water can be redirected, terrain can be reshaped, and weather conditions can influence both creatures and landscapes. Rather than presenting obvious solutions, the game encourages experimentation. Success frequently comes from observing natural reactions and discovering how different elements affect one another. This approach gives puzzles a fluid and organic quality that feels refreshing compared to more rigid adventure game structures. One of the game's greatest accomplishments is its physics simulation. Nearly every area feels alive thanks to dynamic environmental systems that constantly react to player actions. Sand dunes shift under pressure, water flows naturally through channels, and powerful weather effects can dramatically alter entire sections of the landscape. These systems are not merely decorative. They play an essential role in both exploration and puzzle-solving, ensuring that players remain engaged with the environment itself rather than simply searching for the next objective marker. The Folded Edition expands the experience beyond its original virtual reality roots, successfully adapting the adventure for traditional screens while preserving the sense of wonder that defined the original release. The transition works remarkably well because the game's strengths were never dependent solely on immersion technology. The unusual world design, creature interactions, and environmental systems remain compelling regardless of how the game is experienced. Another major attraction is the sandbox mode, which provides players with the freedom to experiment without restrictions. This mode transforms the game into a digital ecosystem simulator where landscapes can be modified, creatures can be introduced, and environmental forces can be manipulated freely. The sandbox captures the same spirit of creativity that defines the main adventure while giving players additional opportunities to appreciate the depth of the simulation systems. For those who enjoy experimentation and world-building, it can become a substantial source of entertainment on its own. Visually, Paper Beast is stunning in an unconventional way. Instead of striving for realism, it embraces abstraction and artistic expression. Vast deserts, surreal rock formations, mechanical remnants, and bizarre wildlife combine to create environments that are consistently surprising. Every new area introduces fresh visual concepts, ensuring that exploration remains exciting throughout the journey. The contrast between natural-looking ecosystems and their obviously artificial construction reinforces the game's themes of digital life and emergent worlds. The sound design is equally effective. Ambient audio, environmental effects, and an eclectic soundtrack work together to establish a mood that ranges from peaceful and meditative to strange and unsettling. The game often communicates emotion through sound and atmosphere rather than dialogue, making audio a crucial component of the overall experience. Combined with the visual presentation, it creates a world that feels both alien and strangely familiar. The game's unconventional design will not appeal to everyone. Players who prefer direct storytelling, extensive character development, or constant action may struggle with its slow pace and abstract presentation. Certain puzzles can also feel vague due to the intentionally minimal guidance provided. The game often expects players to experiment freely, which can occasionally lead to moments of confusion. However, these qualities are closely tied to its identity and contribute to the sense of discovery that makes the experience unique. What truly distinguishes Paper Beast: Folded Edition is its willingness to prioritize imagination over convention. It does not attempt to imitate popular trends or fit neatly into established genres. Instead, it creates a world governed by its own rules and encourages players to engage with it on their own terms. The result is an adventure that feels remarkably fresh, even years after its release. For players who appreciate artistic experimentation, environmental storytelling, and creative game design, Paper Beast: Folded Edition offers an unforgettable journey. Its combination of fascinating creatures, dynamic ecosystems, inventive puzzles, and striking visual design creates an experience unlike almost anything else available. While its abstract nature may not resonate with every audience, those willing to embrace its unusual vision will discover a thoughtful and memorable adventure that lingers in the imagination long after it ends.
