At first seemed a nice sandboxish game UNTIL I checked out the store. How on gods greed sorry green earth are the skins almost 30 or 20ish bucks idk no hate to whoever plays this but it feels like a game catered for disney adults with adult money...its playable without buying anything though.
Это была почти самая любимая игра для лампового времяпровождения, но теперь в нее даже не зайти. Спасибо, дура.

Boring lack of stuff to do.
I will start this off by saying that I absolutely fell in love with Palia when I first found it. It was only after nearly 2 years of nonsense & BS that I’ve come to the conclusion that this game & its community are not worth my time, & I cannot recommend it to others in good faith. Riddled with bugs & glitches: The game is absolutely riddled with bugs & glitches. The devs keep releasing broken update on top of broken update. Some of these bugs have been around for multiple years, but there is very little effort being made to improve them. The team has demonstrated that they would rather keep churning out poorly made content & updates than fix what’s already there. Toxic community & Discord server: If you say anything to critique the game in the Palia Discord server, prepare for mutes, warnings & ultimately a ban. Other players will jump down your throat for critiquing the game, tell you to just leave if you don’t like the game & will report you to the mods, who almost always take the side of the player who is whiteknighting for the game. You’ll be told that you’re being ‘disrespectful’ & ‘bad-faith’ if you have anything negative to say about the game. This pattern has been established very clearly to me in the couple years that I spent in the server. Even if you don’t receive an official warning, any form of dissent will get you on the mods’ naughty list. As such, this server is not a safe place for constructive conversation about improving the game. Unfortunately the handful of helpful people in that server are overshadowed by the authoritarian attitudes of the mods & their support of players who tell you to just leave if you don’t like something about the game. Accessibility issues: The team recognized that the game has accessibility issues a couple of years ago. They promised in May of 2025 that they would team up with Microsoft for an accessibility audit of the game. That audit never happened & the game continues to cause seizures, migraines & other serious health issues in disabled players. I’ve heard multiple times of players being hospitalized due to lack of proper warnings, safety & accessibility options in the game. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were some lawsuits afoot. They don’t even have basic VFX toggles, UI scaling or flash warnings. The game was not built with accessibility in mind & the longer they go without adding it, the worse it will continue to get. Console issues: The team doesn’t really seem to care about how the game runs on console. So if you’re a console player, be prepared to be told things like “you just need to buy a new controller/upgrade to a better console” because the team is too busy to investigate the actual sources of the issues that consoles have. & don’t even bother downloading it if you own a Switch or an older computer - it’s essentially unplayable & worsens with each update. Low quality updates & premium content, plushies being thrown at us to distract: Updates & premium content continue to disappoint more & more with each patch. Each time it is glaringly obvious just how rushed the patch was & just how many corners were cut. So many of the premium items are either broken or just look like crap. The colorways offered for the premium items are almost always lacking in thought & attention for which colors clash & which colors look harmonious with one another. New plushies are seemingly used as a distraction from how lacking & broken the game is in many areas. Lackluster story content: The story content leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn’t feel enthralling & engaging the majority of the time. It is difficult to really get into the story or the characters due to how shallow & poorly written the majority of it feels. Ranching is poorly done and yet, it’s the only skill being added to: They keep adding more & more types of ranch animals (despite not giving us more space for more ranch animals), but the skill is essentially useless because animals don’t really give anything helpful. There are a few exceptions to that, but overall I feel they should be more focused on refining & adding to other existing skills, such as adding more to the gardening & hunting skills, adding more types of processors & machines, improving the loathed fishing skill, working out kinks with the cooking skill, etc. Community events: Community events are organized haphazardly & often feel like they only exist to farm engagement, while the custom rewards for community events (like plushies & tints) take many months to become available in game. Limited decorating possibilities: People resort to using glitches to organize their decorations & rooms the way they want to and to be able to place furniture on the outer bounds of premium plots. People should not have to use glitches to place decors the way they’d like. There is a lot more that could be said, but I’m running out of space. Given all the major issues with this game, I will no longer be playing it & I will be telling everyone I know to avoid it.
I want to preface this review by saying: I love what Palia *was*. I have hundreds of hours in the game before the Steam version was released and I still log in daily. But I *cannot* recommend it in its current state to new players. Let's start with the good: Palia is a super fun, cozy, farming and building game. I have spent so much time creating the perfect home, exploring the world, getting to know the characters... At its core, it's everything I want in a game. But then there's the bad: Over the past year or so, there has been a hard shift away from the things that made the game cozy and relaxing. Bundle Boards (time limited events) have started to come faster and faster, with required items that are increasingly difficult to get, making the game less of a game and more of a JOB, if you want to get those limited rewards that the devs tell you directly won't be back around for some time, if at all. In addition, there is more and more monetization of game elements. Lunar Paths (battle passes) lock all of their nicer rewards behind a paywall, making them less appealing to complete - costing large amounts of time for often mediocre rewards. And the balance of value to the real money cost has never been S6's strong suit, with many cosmetic items costing as much or even more than a whole AAA game. Releases are coming faster, with less free content, more game-breaking bugs, and the dev team often seems a bit tone deaf to the concerns of their players, focusing on pushing more FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) content and events to keep engagement high, rather than putting in features that draw in players for the *fun* of it. In truth, it's a shame to see these changes in a game I do really love. I truly hope that things will settle down and return to the coziness that I enjoyed so much. Until then, I recommend that new players go in with eyes open, knowing that they will likely miss out on things unless they are willing to spend large amounts of time and money.

Palia is a very enjoyable game. When I first joined this game a year ago, I did not enjoy it. It was in it's early beta stage and I felt that it was bland at the time. Just a week ago I returned to Palia, wanting to see how it had progressed over the year. Needless to say I was NOT disappointed. There's so much more content now, little tasks to do, more characters to chat with, more quests, relationships, and even the storyline improved! I love it all so much! I don't think I've seen anyone say this before, but Palia reminds me of Free Realms in a lot of ways, and for me, that's a good thing. Palia has filled the Free Realms shaped hole in my heart and made it ten times better (It's basically a modern day Free Realms, the chappas and Zeki remind me of the orange flying squirrel, I think his name was Chatty?). One of my favorite things about this game is the level of detail when it comes to cooking, it's actually an enjoyable minigame, unlike other cozy games I've played where it feels like an insufferable chore or the skill itself feels lackluster. Same with all the other skills really. Palia makes all the skills not so challenging that it becomes an overstimulating grind (Like Dreamlight Valley), but makes the skills not so easy that you feel like there's nothing to do/isn't a rewarding experience (like Heartopia). Palia is everything I could of hoped for, and I'm glad I revisited it. Sometimes with early access or beta games, if you don't like it then, you might like it later! :)
6/10 game for me. Love most of the stuff about it, but there are a few things I don't. Amazing clutter options, character customization, and now theres even mounts. I am a 100% free to play player and have not ever felt FOMO, but that doesnt mean that the devs are perfect. Very little communication from devs, long update times (specfically in the first 2 years of it being out) as well as the differing quality for all the different ports. Its an amazing game for cozy gamers, but the community has soured over time. Some groups think they own a server or activity, and I have friends that still play (I take a lot of hiatuses) and they have ALL said they have experienced people being mean to them simply for doing things that even the loading screens say you can do. Several times they have had community events that are tied to in game things, like catching bugs, fish, or doing certain tasks. We are left in the dark on how we were doing on it until they decided to update the numbers, and occasionaly they would extend some events, but not others. I fell out of playing religiously around 3 patches into Elderwood, but I have come back every couple of months to get some newer items. All this to say it is a good game. A lot of lore for ALL the characters, all of the characters are influential in their own rights, as well as there being SO much to do. Even if you reach end game content, there are tons of stuff to do for your own plot, achievements, and just general hanging out with people. MOST of the community is really nice. You can do server chat in Bahari, Kilima, or the Underground and you will get your questions answered close to 100% of the time. If you are into paid cosmetics, it does seem to be weighted more towards feminine motifs, but we did recently get a few mystery cosmetic and both of the ones I got were were perfect for my male character, though some masculine-charactered players did voice concern over getting magical girl attire lmao.
Palia is my soulmate of the game world. Cozy, play at your own pace, and keeps me busy. Here are my thoughts more in depth: -House building and decorating is unmatched, however I wish more house pieces were able to connect to each other. - Free to play and your choice to purchase from the premium shop does not hinder your ability to advance in the game which is great for those who don't or can't spend money. - I will say, the premium shop is excessively expensive and the fact that single pieces of clothing can't be purchased without purchasing the entire outfit has always been absurd to me. - I love the interactions with the villagers and all their different personalities. The downfall to this however is their dialogue gets SUPER repetitive especially after you've maxed out the friendships and romance. - I ADORE the map and the open world exploration. There are so many creatures to find and random activities to do in each of the areas. - I will say though, the new expansion of the Royal Highlands was kind of disappointing to me. It took me so long to fully explore the Elderwood and get my bearings in that area, but the Royal Highlands didn't really add much in my opinion and it was super easy to get through despite it being the biggest exploration area. (Crab Wars helped me like the Royal Highlands more) - There is ALWAYS something to do in this game and it keeps me locked in for HOURS upon hours. - I'm addicted to Hotpot. - When a new update comes out the new main story quests take me all of 30 minutes to complete which is a little sad. I like doing the story quests more than anything else because it gives me something to actually work towards, and now after being caught up with everything it's kind of a let down. I will say it did take a long time to get caught up with the main story when I first started playing the game, but I still wish more of the story was added in the updates. - I can't get hurt. I'm not the kind of person who plays combative games like Elden Ring, I like the calmness of Palia and not really having any consequence for anything. - Cooking gets repetitive and boring, it is my least favorite skill to work on which is unfortunate because you have to consume SO much food in this game even after leveling up at the shrines. I've heard that cooking parties are a blast and you can make so much money from them, but I'm a religiously solo player thanks to being socially awkward, so I haven't gotten there yet. - The overall Palia community is VERY nice. There are some exceptions, as there are with other communities and our world, but I've seen nothing but kindness in the year and a half I've been playing this game. To finish; I know it looks like I complained a lot about this game, and there are a lot of things this game could change/fix/add, but this game is literally my soulmate game. It keeps me busy because there is always something you could do. It's so cozy and play at your own pace which I LOVE. I think Palia is the best cozy open-world game out right now, it just needs more love and time to grow into something exceptionally beautiful.
pretty good for a free game, story is great and characters are very cute! only problems I have with this is that theres not that many customizable options for your character. Women and male body types are stuck being only 1 body type, with no muscular types for women or other fat/chubbier body types for either. also the fact that all the cool stuff is behind paywall which is fine, its just that it's so expensive for a few items. If you could pick the colors on a colorwheel for the clothes instead of pre made options it would be a lot nicer the game is pretty buggy with lots of grammatical errors and i KNOW the devs are prolly working hard to fix those its just annoying :( also paid storage sucks and goes against the promise the devs made a year or two ago with them serving the community faithfully overall everything is just kinda expensive and we would like it if it were cheaper and stuff weren't behind paywalls
