Pros: - Players are able to proceed get just packing all the items in without fulfilling the extra conditions (but can only get low star rating for it) - there is a hint system but once players use a hint on an item, auto placement will occur and the item cannot be moved anymore unless the level is restarted - dialogues/cutscenes etc. can be skipped by adusting in the settings, which I totally appreciate that Cons: - there is no auto clipping to slots so using a controller to control a mouse that picks up the item and dragging it to a slot might feel a tad bit awkward. It will be better to use directional inputs to auto clip item to a slot instead.
Pakinpaks is a cozy puzzle game that proves even the most ordinary activity can become surprisingly entertaining when paired with smart design. Developed by Indiebuild and published by Catoptric Games, the game revolves around packing luggage for clients traveling to destinations around the world. While the premise sounds simple, the challenge of fitting various objects into limited spaces quickly evolves into a rewarding exercise in logic, planning, and spatial awareness. The game takes a familiar real-life task and transforms it into an engaging puzzle experience that is easy to learn yet difficult to put down. The heart of the game lies in its luggage-packing mechanics. Players must arrange a variety of items inside bags and suitcases while satisfying different requirements and restrictions. Early puzzles act as a gentle introduction, teaching the basics of object placement and organization. As the journey continues, new complications and rules emerge, requiring more careful consideration and experimentation. The steady introduction of fresh mechanics prevents the gameplay from becoming repetitive and keeps each packing challenge feeling distinct. Solving a difficult arrangement creates a satisfying sense of accomplishment, especially when every item finally clicks into place. A major strength of Pakinpaks is the variety of ways it allows players to enjoy its puzzles. The main travel-focused campaign offers a structured progression as players assist customers from different locations while accompanied by BonBon, the lovable feline manager of the packing business. For those who simply want a relaxing experience, the infinite mode provides endless packing challenges without pressure. Players seeking a more intense experience can test themselves in timed challenges, while another mode introduces limited moves that encourage thoughtful planning and efficiency. These different approaches help broaden the game's appeal and ensure there is something suitable for both casual and dedicated puzzle fans. The presentation contributes greatly to the game's charm. Its colorful art direction creates a welcoming atmosphere that fits the relaxing nature of the gameplay. BonBon serves as a memorable mascot whose cheerful presence adds personality to the experience. Unlockable cosmetic items, including hats and accessories, provide extra incentives for continued play without distracting from the core mechanics. Small quality-of-life additions, such as a night mode, further reinforce the game's comfortable and accessible design philosophy. One of the most impressive aspects of Pakinpaks is how it balances accessibility with depth. Newcomers can quickly understand the basic rules and begin solving puzzles almost immediately, yet experienced puzzle enthusiasts will discover increasingly demanding scenarios that require careful thought. The game rarely feels unfair because success is usually achieved through observation and experimentation rather than trial-and-error frustration. This balance makes it suitable for a wide range of players, whether they are looking for a relaxing evening pastime or a more mentally stimulating challenge. The game is not without limitations. Because nearly every activity revolves around organizing and fitting objects into confined spaces, enjoyment depends heavily on how much a player appreciates spatial puzzles. Those seeking action-packed gameplay, deep storytelling, or complex character progression may find the experience too focused on its central mechanic. Nevertheless, the developers extract an impressive amount of variety from the concept, ensuring that the gameplay remains engaging far longer than the premise initially suggests. Overall, Pakinpaks succeeds by combining clever puzzle design, a charming presentation, and multiple modes that cater to different play styles. It transforms a mundane everyday task into a relaxing yet surprisingly strategic adventure that consistently rewards creativity and problem-solving. The gradual progression of mechanics, combined with its cozy atmosphere and approachable design, makes it an enjoyable experience for puzzle lovers of all skill levels. While its appeal may be specialized, those who enjoy organization-based challenges will find plenty to appreciate in this inventive and polished title. Rating: 8/10

Pakinpaks is made with love. It delivers exactly what it promises (and hopefuly more at launch ! ) . Every mechanic feels polished and satisfyingly 'crunchy'. From the little dopamine hits of spark-filled clicks and trail VFX on the cursor, to the clever, progressively tougher challenges, it’s a joy. Relaxing, engaging, and perfect for our stressed-out brains !
I said it during the demo and I'm going to say it again. This game is a hit! It's a perfect puzzle game wrapped in a cozy cuddly globetrotting story. Fascinating new mechanics are constantly added in combination with special secondary quests the game will keep finding new ways to tickle your brain yet somehow without ever feeling too overwhelming. 10/10 my new go-to cozy thinker
It was a good experience so far. The ice, hot, wet, dry mechanics give tactical point of view to packing elements. Worth the price for me.
Nice and slow paced game, I mainly took interest in this game due to its Y2K style. Just the simple shading and cartoon animals are what I enjoy. I'm not much of a puzzle guy, but if it has cartoon animals, I'll check the game out.
Fun little time waster, however there are some problems. First of all there are a couple of oversights in the last couple of worlds such as spelling errors and a freezer decal gets on the items when pakking. Second the game is written in a way as if you constantly used the hint function, however during my playthrough I have not used the hints a single time and it was kind of dissapointing that the game didn't even acknowledge it. And lastly you have to read the dialogue before you can start packing the bags. That probably doesn't sound so bad, but I found myself trying to pack while reading the dialogue. Thus resulting in accidentely skipping some of the dialogue even though it is written pretty fun.
You can feel that a lot of love has been put into this game. Puzzles weren't challenging but not easy either, so if you want a puzzle game that makes you think but doesn't frustrate you at the same time, I think this game is a solid contender. The story in itself was straight forward and some characters we're actually pretty cool. I would say it was worth the money, enjoyable experience. 8/10
I have to say I was positively surprised by Pakinpaks. This game packs a lot of character for it being a short one. The art style was an absolute delight for me to see and while the humour is rather flat, it fits the style perfectly. The character quirks make for some interesting mechanics, which can certainly up the challenge he, especially during the last encounters and in the free play modes. Overall a charming experience.
