Painted In Blood

Note: I received a key for this game via Lurkit, but my opinions remain entirely my own. Painted in Blood is a bloody mess in the absolute best way possible. If you’re looking for a shooter with a thick, oppressive gothic atmosphere and top-tier world-building, this is it. The Vibes: The ambience is haunting, backed by stellar voice acting that actually made me care about the world. The Story: It tackles dark themes with a level of maturity you don't always see in indie shooters. It kept me hooked from start to finish. The Pace: It’s a bit more deliberate and slower-paced than your average "movement shooter," but I personally loved the change of speed. It lets the atmosphere breathe. The Combat: Exactly what you want—thrilling, visceral, and packed with gore. My only minor gripe was that the map layouts can occasionally feel like a bit of a maze, leading to some "where do I go?" moments. That said, it didn't stop me from loving the 4-hour ride. Verdict: 9.5/10. An incredible foundation, and I can't wait to see where the devs take it.

Good game so far.

Excellent, absolutely excellent. You've done a great job capturing both the highs of horror gameplay and retro fps gameplay. And incredibly potent but difficult to pull of blend. I eagerly await the rest of your work, you really nailed it thus far.

Layers of Doom. Surprisingly solid shooter. Slow and with a strong atmospheric streak and a very heavy narrative focus. Great visuals, excellent gunplay, neat combat, altho sometimes it gives vibes of "everything and the kitchen sink" in terms of approach. Good atmosphere and an OK (if heavy handed) story visibly inspired by Layers of Fear. My biggest gripe (apart from being very obviously unfinished) - The level design. The levels are beautiful, sure, but often come across as labirynthian in the worst way possible, being somehwat confusing mazes with little visual distinction and cues for player direction. Other than that - I was very pleasantly surprised, worth following. I'll play it in full once it releases for sure.

What if the originals DOOMs oldschool gunplay is mixed with a Resident Evil like horror setting, but its a Max Payne like story ...kind of in a different dimension. Painted in Blood is definitely a hidden gem, potentially an artistic masterpiece. In other words, a wonderful high quality horror boomer shooter. Really loved it!
