Vi ricordate cosa succedeva al buon vecchio Carnby in Alone In The Dark The New Nightmare?

i would like to call this a tribute to RE 90's.. but controls are crap and camera just annoying. All elements that worked well with RE work bad here. Too bad. I don't like to be hard with people, but wondering if Dead Drop Studios are conscient how much they fail to bring back to life the Mikami and Kamiya ideas. You want to play a decent RE tribute : go directly to Daymare 1998. You want to play honorable old school survival, go directly to Song of Horror. Or replay RE Rebirth master piece.
just play RE this is of course a much cheaper alternative but I feel your time would be better used replaying those classics then...... this.
This game is basically a clone of RE1 where you are trapped inside a mansion. And when i say clone i mean it, everything from tank controls to user interface to inventory screen, everything is a copy of RE1. The graphics are early gen PS2 level which is fine. The mansion isn't as complicated or spooky as RE1 but still not too bad. The zombies in this game are bullet sponges and take atleast 3-4 headshots to go down. The puzzles in this game are also nowhere as involved as RE1,they are mostly find the number combination puzzles. The game is divided into 4 episodes and i only played the first, the rest are DLCs which need to be purchased separately. Overall this is an okay game if you want to experience 90s style of RE again.
Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles is a survival horror experience developed and published by Dead Drop Studios LLC, designed as a tribute to the genre's classic era while introducing its own episodic storyline. Set in a world devastated by a horrifying outbreak, the game follows Lydia, a determined survivor who finds herself trapped within a sprawling estate filled with infected creatures, hidden secrets, and lingering mysteries. From the opening moments, the game establishes a bleak atmosphere where survival depends not on brute force, but on caution, exploration, and intelligent resource management. One of the game's greatest strengths is its commitment to traditional survival horror principles. Players are constantly forced to make difficult decisions regarding ammunition, healing supplies, and inventory space. Every bullet matters, and every encounter carries risk. Rather than encouraging players to eliminate every enemy they encounter, the game often rewards avoidance and strategic planning. This design philosophy creates an ongoing sense of tension that remains present throughout the adventure. The fear of running out of resources becomes just as threatening as the monsters themselves, successfully capturing the anxiety that defined many genre classics. The environments play a significant role in maintaining immersion. The mansion and surrounding locations are filled with interconnected pathways, locked doors, hidden items, and environmental clues that encourage careful investigation. Exploration feels meaningful because progress is tied directly to uncovering keys, solving puzzles, and piecing together fragments of the story. The game avoids excessive hand-holding, allowing players to discover objectives naturally. This old-school approach may feel demanding at times, but it contributes greatly to the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles and uncovering new areas. Narratively, Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles focuses on mystery and survival rather than complex character drama. Documents, notes, and environmental storytelling reveal the origins and consequences of the outbreak while gradually expanding the game's lore. The episodic format allows the story to unfold over time, providing a steady stream of revelations that keep players invested in Lydia's journey. While the plot does not necessarily break new ground within the zombie horror genre, it remains engaging thanks to its atmosphere and pacing. Atmosphere is arguably the game's most effective achievement. Dimly lit hallways, unsettling audio design, distant noises, and carefully constructed environments create a constant feeling of unease. The game understands that horror is often most effective when players fear what they cannot see. Limited visibility and tense exploration sequences ensure that even routine movement through familiar areas can become nerve-racking. The visual presentation may not rival large-budget horror productions, but it successfully supports the game's mood and themes. The enemy encounters provide moments of suspense, though the combat system can occasionally feel rough. Weapon handling is intentionally deliberate, reinforcing the vulnerability of the protagonist. While this approach suits the survival horror formula, some players may find movement and combat mechanics less refined than those found in modern horror titles. Nevertheless, the focus remains firmly on survival rather than action, and the combat system generally succeeds in supporting that vision. Encounters become less about mastering complex mechanics and more about preserving precious resources while staying alive. As an independent production, the game inevitably displays some technical limitations. Character animations, voice performances, and certain visual elements can vary in quality. However, these shortcomings rarely overshadow the experience's strengths. The passion behind the project is evident in its dedication to recreating the atmosphere, pacing, and challenge of classic survival horror. Fans who appreciate nostalgic design choices are likely to overlook many of the rough edges in favor of the game's strong sense of identity. What ultimately makes Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles noteworthy is its refusal to compromise its vision. It embraces inventory management, puzzle-solving, exploration, limited resources, and deliberate pacing at a time when many horror games lean heavily toward action. This commitment gives the game a distinctive personality and helps it stand apart from more mainstream releases. Although it may not appeal to players seeking fast-paced thrills or cutting-edge production values, it offers a rewarding experience for those who enjoy methodical horror adventures built around tension and survival. Outbreak: The Nightmare Chronicles succeeds as a respectful homage to the survival horror classics that inspired it. Through its atmospheric environments, challenging resource management, engaging exploration, and persistent sense of dread, the game delivers an experience that feels authentic to the genre's roots. While certain technical and mechanical shortcomings prevent it from reaching the heights of its inspirations, the overall package remains enjoyable and memorable for horror enthusiasts who appreciate old-school design philosophies. I recommend the game, although I am not that impressed with it. I wish I could give a "neutral" review... While I had a lot of fun playing through the first few chapters, I feel like the game is stronger during the beginning. The final chapters felt too short and the ending is pretty much disappointing. That being said, the game is a pretty good tribute to the classic Resident Evil trilogy - which I grew up playing on the PlayStation, the environment gave me fun nostalgic feelings. I loved investigating the environments just to see what I could find. The enemies were OK and one of them reminded me of the Hunter from RE. Now, there are a lot of small issues - nothing game breaking, but still enough to catch your attention if you've played games like the Resident Evil series: 1) There is no map function - while the chapters aren't that long, it could be helpful to see where I'm going, some rooms in the first chapter look alike so a map would be greatly appreciated. 2) Some chapters feel unbalanced - I've finished up a chapter with over 30 handgun bullets, but in the next one I was struggling to find anything. There's an incredible abundance of floppy disks - the game's "Ink Ribbon", and you also get loaded with guns easily. Some enemies take several hits with stronger guns to die and in other instances you can down the same enemy with very few shots. 3) Lack of puzzles - The game has notes to read and piece together a story and also has a nice ambiance. However, when it comes to puzzles, there are none - except find the key to unlock a door or the code for a door. For example, I feel like it's so easy to get a hold of 4 different guns, but there's no catch, no trick to being able to do so. 4) Item combination - I feel like some items should stack, like the floppy disks, however, each of them takes up a slot in your (very limited) inventory. Also, if you're by an item box and try to, say, put some handgun ammo from your inventory over the same ammo in the box, it won't combine them, it'll swap. On that note, if you reach over 50 bullets, then you'll need one more slot because the maximum you can carry in a single slot is 50. 5) Enemy sounds and behavior - I don't really know if I paid close attention but felt like all the different enemies had the same sounds, and all they all attack in the same way - by beating you up. Felt the need to point that out because some monsters are so cool-looking, but they behave the same as the standard zombies. 6) Losing all your gear when a chapter ends - I guess I can understand that giving each chapter a fresh start might be easier to do, but since I played through all of the chapters back to back, it felt a bit weird having to collect the guns again. As I mentioned before, I haven't found anything game breaking - during my play of the first chapter, everytime I entered a new room my flashlight would turn off so I had to keep turning it back on. Also sometimes the character would stick to running without me holding down shift. I'm sorry it sounds like I'm just bashing the game, but I had fun, and would love to see more like this, honestly. I'm a huge fan of the Alone in the Dark: A New Nightmare game, and I'm dying to see some old-school survival horror taking place in a huge mannor again.
