«Orc Raid»
Simple Slashing Orc game. Running and Pickup simulator. A grind to strive for 7777 kills. Few spawning bugs at certain levels. Nothing exceptional. Not really worth that few bucks.
Orc Raid is a shoot everything that moves first person shooter. Similar to games like doom where you have to keep moving, picking up weapons, while an angry mob chases you and you constantly blow them apart to bits. The game contains two game modes, campaign with 9 chapters[haven't finished it yet] and survival mode with 1 map and 2 coming soon. The game delivers on it's promise, blowing tons of enemies is entertaining. With this, it is easily worth the 5 dollars (3.5 at the moment) However, since the game has just launched, you can EASILY spot bugs and issues here and there. But that's to be expected of a game handling tons of enemies and their respective bodyparts flying around. I have seen the game being updated, so before I list the rough parts of the game, I'll wait a bit more before writing my full review... but yeah, if you like mindless action, buy it. TO BE CONTINUED....
Overview:
'Orc Raid' is a first person wave/survival game where you fend off an onslaught of orcs with various types of weapons including bombs, arrows, staffs and let's not forget your (very trusty sword. 'Orc Raid' throws you into the shoes of an unnamed hero set off to save not just the kingdom but all of humanity from a seemingly endless horde of merciless orcs. You essentially fight through a 9 chapter campaign killing orcs until the game decides that you've killed enough and sends you to the next chapter. There are other chapters labelled as "DLC" but they haven't been released and seeing as how this game came out almost 2 years ago with no updates suggesting their completion, I'm confident when I say they probably aren't going to come out anymore. The story itself is obviously not the best but I do give the game credit for actually having one that at least makes sense. Many games of this fashion tend to not have a coherent story or plot that makes sense so at least 'Orc Raid' has that going for it. Aside from that, the game doesn't have much if anything to offer. Spelling and grammar are also not the best making the story telling rather funny but also feels a bit overly dramatic at the same time. Apart from that, 'Orc Raid' is not the worst game I've played but it's definitely up there because of just how sluggish and unstable it is to play.
Gameplay:
To begin, the game plays extremely slippery. You're quick on your feet and can cover the rather large map in record time, but so can your enemies. The objective is to essentially run around picking up weapons you feel are best suited for fighting the enemies that will stop at nothing to kill you. There are arrows and staffs that can kill a single enemy from range and bombs that can be lobbed for crowd control. There are also swords and blades infused with elements that you can also use to further up your arsenal but if I have to be honest, I don't see the purpose of them as all none of the elements really have diverse affects on foes. It only makes sense to use the sword you're already given since it kills everything in one hit making pretty much every other weapon obsolete except ranged weapons. This is due to a bug in the second level where the enemies are suspended in mid-air and can only be killed with projectiles. The issue with this is that while they're stuck in the air, most of them aren't able to move or attack the player so you end up having to run around looking for them. I honestly thought I was stuck in limbo til I realized I just needed to kill enough orcs to progress the story so thankfully although the game appears broken, you'll still be able to move forward, just have a bit of patience. Another gripe I have with this game is the unstable hitboxes and registry. At one point in the game you'll befriend knight who fights alongside you in your battle to save humanity although he's not very strong. Enemies coup up around him faster than he can execute them and if he manages to rile up enough orcs in one area, they will be impossible to engage up close as they will decimate you in less than a second as there is no post hit invincibility. This can obviously be countered with any ranged weapon but the fact remains that you shouldn't die so abruptly from being close to enemies that aren't even attacking you. It just puts an unexpected (and frankly unfair) end to a mission that actually takes quite a bit of time to beat. The game also offers a survival mode which is exactly that: survive for as long as you can. The thing is, the main game already behaves like a survival game. The only difference is that after killing a certain number of orcs, the chapter ends following a cutscene and the cycle repeats 8 more times. But the gameplay is literally the same. There was almost no reason to have a survival mode had it not been for the achievement of killing a staggering 7777 orcs. Overall, it isn't completely terrible but the controls and feel of the game is sluggish, slippery and you'll honestly feel like you're fighting on ice the entire time.
Controls:
As already mentioned, everything feels slippery and fast. It's like the entire map is made of ice. Moving faintly in any direction covers a generous amount of ground and slight taps of the keyboard can send your character careening off a platform. I'm guessing the mentality was that the game would be fun with fast and agile controls but it just doesn't feel good cause you have little to no control over your own character.
Graphics:
Many players aren't fond of graphics that resemble a game for younger audiences and when I first saw this game I honestly thought it was a game for kids. That was until I discovered that there actually IS blood and enemies can even become dismembered and gib making a rather gruesome mess on the floor. I personally don't mind and actually quite adore these types of visuals as they're easy on the eyes, bright, colorful and compliments the whole fantasy theme.
Audio:
Oh boy, the developers sure dropped the bomb with this one. The first thing I noticed, was that increasing the volume for music not only makes it louder, but it butchers the quality of it as well. As if the game had a built in speaker that couldn't handle the games music being so loud. Sound effects alone are lacking and can probably be counted on both hands. Nothing special here aside from the quite peculiar ear raping volume setting for the music. The sound doesn't have the same problem, so why just the music?
Conclusion/TL;DR:
'Orc Raid' is a first person wave based survival game with fast, slippery controls and a range of obsolete weapons pertaining to the main one. With little variety in gameplay along with awkward physics and movement, 'Orc Raid' isn't a great game to play if you're wishing to scratch that wave based survival itch.

Orc Raid is a 3D rendered first person wave survival shooter/brawler. It's extremely shallow, all you do is move around a small map as waves of copy + pasted Orc assets come at you. This kind of looks like it might have a lot of stock assets being flipped in it, but it's not a direct 1:1 pure asset flip even if it is using someone elses assets. Anyway, deeply shallow gameplay is matched with a deeply mediocre implementation with poor quality gameplay, awful sound effects, comedy rapid fire bow and arrow (these guys don't know how bows and arrows work, they aren't machine guns). From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. That's right, only 3. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason. Orc Raid is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Serious Sam para pobres. 2/10
solid fun for an evening. basic, but effective gameplay and interesting weapons to learn
