About
Modern Tactical Action:
Operation Athena delivers a modern take on classic tactical shooters with a stronger action edge. It’s built around coordinated squad pushes and constant pressure, while still rewarding smart movement, positioning, and teamwork over pure speed.
Bold and Dynamic AI:
Enemy forces don’t just stand and shoot. They flank, reposition, react to sound, dynamically choose and hold defensive positions, and make use of nearby cover. AI spawns are handled by a level-specific director, giving each map its own thematically appropriate enemy setups while changing where enemies appear from one mission to the next. Expect enemies to fall back, flank, hold ground, and counterattack throughout each mission.
Immersive and Impactful Gunplay:
Every weapon has its own feel, with tuned recoil, penetration, and punchy feedback. Suppressors support quieter approaches, while a range of optic options lets you tailor your rifle for close-quarters fights or longer engagements. Gunplay is smooth, responsive, and built to keep firefights intense without feeling arcade-fast.
Single-player offers its own dedicated experience built around flexibility and squad command.
Play completely alone or deploy alongside a commandable squad of AI teammates. Direct your team throughout the mission, order them to follow or hold position, send them to specific locations, and prepare coordinated doorway entries.
Teammates can stack beside doors, open them, breach and clear rooms, or use a flashbang before entering.
Solo players use the dedicated Athena Teamlead class rather than the four specialized multiplayer roles.
Athena Teamlead combines the weapons and equipment normally divided between multiplayer classes into one flexible loadout. Solo players have access to all primary weapon categories, expanded secondary weapon options, additional medical supplies, grenades, flashbangs, and breaching charges.
Athena Teamlead also has its own independent appearance customization and saved loadout.
Online co-op uses four specialized Operator classes, each with unique equipment or abilities designed to encourage teamwork.
Choose your role carefully and work with your squad to complete the operation.

The Team Leader embodies command, guiding the squad and keeping the mission on track. When the odds turn grim, he can call in one reinforcement over the radio to bring fresh strength into the fight.
The Medic is responsible for providing medical support to injured teammates and ensuring the squad's survivability during combat engagements. The Medic will utilize equipment to render aid to injured team members.
The Support Gunner specializes in providing suppressive fire and firepower support to the team. The Support Gunner will carry additional ammunition to reinforce the team.
The Breacher is tasked with gaining entry into fortified or barricaded enemy positions. The Breacher will utilize a breaching shotgun and will also be equipped with additional explosives.

A classic tactical shooter staple—clear the map of all hostiles. Every encounter plays differently thanks to dynamic AI spawning and enemy behaviors.
Infiltrate, secure, and extract. Rescue hostages from fortified enemy positions, balancing speed and caution while navigating the risks of friendly fire and unexpected resistance.
Find and defuse planted explosives before time runs out. Work with your team to clear rooms, defuse the explosives, and navigate through challenging and dynamic enemy AI.
Locate and extract high-value crates using gathered intel while enemy reinforcements assault you. Your squad must recover every target and fight your way out together, creating a tense, objective-driven experience that pressures you unlike any other mode in Operation Athena.
From villas and galleries to sand-swept compounds and urban high-rises, missions unfold across varied international locations. Each map brings unique tactical opportunities with strategically built level design, interactive lighting, and dynamic enemy encounters.
Your loadout evolves with an ever-expanding selection of weapons.
Operation Athena equips you with a focused selection of firearms built for every situation. From close-quarters SMGs to precision rifles and high-capacity support weapons, each gun is designed to fill a distinct role and keep your squad mission-ready.

Great tactical shooter in the style of the old Rainbow Six games. Good maps, gunplay and very good A.I. compared to other games in this genre. Devs are also very nice and open and have a good roadmap for 2025. Game is getting A.I. teammates, weapon customization and probably PvP. Looking forward to the future of Operation Athena.

As someone who understands and plays games with real world tactics in CQB this game is fun and off to a great start do not let negative reviews tun you away. If you like CQB games that are tactical this game is for you.
Look, it’s the budget version of the other budget games in the genre. Like, if you really couldn’t afford Black One: Blood Brothers, then this would probably scratch the itch, but honestly dude? It’s just not fun. It’s much more gung-ho than its competitors, almost playing like a worse version of R6V2, or even Takedown: Red Sabre, for anyone unfortunate enough to have played that. There’s no tutorial, no op randomisation outside of enemy and sometimes objective placement (Depending on what gamemode you pick), the gun sounds are trash, gun customisation is currently limited just to scopes, and the one achievement the game does have also doesn’t currently work, which is starting to become a staple of the genre. You get an aiming arc for grenade tossing, but the arc will move in unison with the throwing animation, so the likelyhood of the grenade landing where intended is next to zero. There’s also a levelling system which doesn’t seem to do anything gameplay-wise, which much like the broken achievements, is starting to become a common genre trope. There are also bugs where guns/heals just randomly stop working with no way of fixing them other than restarting the mission, issues with scoping after performing specific actions, objectives spawning in unreachable locations, etc. It does feel really smooth performance-wise, aside from frame drops in a few specific areas, but it clearly uses forced upscaling as made apparent by the constant ghosting and anti-aliasing. It’s also kind of insane how brutal this game actually is. It’s the kind of game where you have to learn all of the random enemy placements just in case, and it took me almost two hours just to clear the killhouse on default settings. The enemy AI, on the plus side, is reactive and actively tries to flank you or hide behind cover. As for the negatives, they never need to reload and have pinpoint accuracy. Depending on distance, they can kill you in one to five shots, and sometimes they even pre-fire when moving around corners. Depending on whether they’re in beige camo (Pre-determined spawns) or black camo (Roaming spawns), they don’t even seem to react to gunfire, nor do they react to getting shot as long as they can’t see you, but if you’re in their line of sight, even if they’re not looking in your direction, they will instantly turn towards you and open-fire regardless of the distance. This isn’t guaranteed to happen, but I can count on one hand the amount of non-aggressive enemies I saw throughout my entire playthrough. All of this together makes the one outdoor map this game has to offer almost impossible to complete. AI teammates, on the other hand, are less like your average SWAT crew and more like an invincible deathsquad. As a result, most of the gameplay when using them is just hiding behind cover and telling them to walk out into the open so they can eliminate any enemies they see on your behalf, that is assuming they’re working as intended. The commands you can give them are currently very limited and often don’t work, with teammates getting stuck on random things and forgetting their orders when they see an enemy, or just permanently retreating into cover when under fire. One thing I do really like is that the dark areas are legitimately pitch-black, giving you an actual reason to use the laser/NVG other than just aura, which is what most of these games seem to go for. I also like that you can shoot out light sources to make areas darker, which is something I’ve not seen since Splinter Cell: Blacklist back in 2013, but it also doesn’t really have an effect on gameplay since the enemies can see you regardless of lighting.
Honestly, not bad at all for a game in very early access. Just played for about 2 hours and had fun solo. I've tried a lot of early access FPS games in the past year and I can say this one is solid. Look forward to more content and graphical updates. Off to a good start for sure.
Great game and great developers For an early access game, it runs very well looks great and has been very enjoyably so far. with a variety levels and game modes, i would highly recommend this game and look forward to the things to come in the future.
The games has an excellent foundation on which to build. It just needs more features and content, which the Dev's are already working on.
Not Bad.
this game is still in development but it is a great game for 10 bucks! for the players that like a tactical moving game with other players killing terrorists this is awesome! great graphics as well and this game can only get better with the help of other players giving the developers ideas to make it even better.
