I played the original tabletop game once or twice in high school. I even had the first computer version on my Tandy 1000SX back in the late 80's. I barely remember it, but it was maybe monocolor, or maybe 4 color at best. Now we get it in FULL HD with great graphics, sound, and animation. I've only played it for 3 hours, but I'm already loving it. Despite the fact it just seized up on me as I was playing the first scenario. I won't hold this against it. I will probably update again in the future.*****ADDITIONAL: I've got an additional nine hours in the game. I've completed 5 of the scenarios in the NIGHTFALL campaign and I can honestly say that this game is a bit BUGGY!!! It's really unacceptable for a game that's been out for 8 years. It will lock up when I'm trying to move my units and exit to desktop. In the 6th scenario it's ZOOMED in during the enemy fire phase and refused to zoom back out. It's done this twice. The only way out is to save the game, exit, and reload the save. I just got a single MISSILE TANK overrun by a MARK III OGRE and after it fired its weapons at my MT it performed a RAM (I guess. Suddenly there was a STACK marker big as the screen on top of another marker, so I guess he was on top of my MT). Then the game seized up and wouldn't exit the OVERRUN. I did everything I could. It was stuck on his turn. So.. I can't give it a 10/10. But I can give it a 5/10. This is due strictly to the bugginess. If they ever get it fixed I can give it a higher rating.

I love this game but y'all gotta fix it so it doesn't crash every game. Have not been able to even finish the starting campaign's FIRST game.
Bones are good...had fun for a little bit. Unfortunately I have fallen victim to bugs in the game as well. Mission 3 of the single player campaign hangs on me during the player movement phase. This being a 9 year old game I don't have much hope any issues will be resolved at this point and being an older fella with a kid I don't have a tremendous amount of time finding or researching work arounds. Shelving this one.
Since I love the GEV series of board games I was super-excited to buy this even with the relatively high price tag and mixed reviews. It's a great concept, but the game lacks full development. It's buggy - I haven't managed to get past the second scenario of the campaign because it keeps locking up when I finish off the last ogre. The relatively few built-in GEV scenarios seem to only give you a few options of mixes of forces and where they start rather than letting you pick your own armor units and place them wherever within the initial boundaries. Some units, like the light GEV and I think howitzers are missing. You can build your own scenarios, but you have to build the maps hex-by-hex; there does not seem to be a way to pull up the original GEV map or any of the sequels.
The game is very buggy. frequent crashes and broken victory conditions in the campaign will stop you prgressing. Its a fun hotseat boardgame but only buy if its less than $5
Has a nostalgic feel, but challenging to play.
it's OGRE......... you wouldn't be playing, reading, watching or building a rogue AI battle tank of immense size if this wasn't made. I bought the original bagged with paper map and chits with my vacation money at a small gift/gas station in New Braunfels in 1981 or so. I didn't know anything about it except it was a game in a baggy hanging on a rack. I think I had not played D&D yet, or Starfleet Battles. NOW MAKE A PROPER "CAR WARS" AKA "AUTODUEL" FOR PC>>>> I BOUGHT THE ATARI ST VERSION AND WAS SO WANTING THAT TO WORK. I PLAYED IT UNTIL THE FLOPPY GOTA SCRATCH ON IT AND IT WOULD START SKIPPING WHEN INSTALLING
