About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

i love this game and concept. it gives you so many tools you can be so creative with to make any kind of music, and teaches you how to use them so well. taught me basics and how to use sequencers and effects way faster than any music class or youtube did. cant wait to make everyone i know play too.
Already a really fun way to get familiar with music production, and there seems to be a lot more planned for the months ahead.

Loving this so far. It's pure dopamine when you finesse the exact sound you're looking for, which hasn't been hard to do despite me not knowing much about writing music or music theory. Layering it all up on the sequencer makes you feel like a some sort of professional. Some sort of savant. It's hype. Been pestering my friends with my creations thus far and suffice to say I'm not about to stop. I will write fire beats and they will call me J Shreddilla.
played all the jobs in the current early access build and yeah this is something special. I've had a lifelong obsession with music and have dabbled but never felt like I had a good access point and this absolutely is that. even with the current amount of instruments the breadth of options is pretty staggering. making music in this thing is fast, fun, and legit. I would love the same things a lot of people are asking for like saving presets for instruments or being able to re-edit or sample old tracks and judging by the fact that json song data is saved it seems like the backbone for that being possible is already there so hopefully soon. off the rip I trust these devs to deliver something really special. also oh my god the gnome is capable of some serious stink I love it.
Incredibly fun way to approach music creation.
no esta nada mal, el problema es que siento que es un juego muy normalito, no pido un DAW pero si tal vez un poco mas de cosas o que los pedidos tal vez use inteligencia artificial para ver si es un buen type beat el que uno hizo.
its gamified composition software this owns
I couldn't sleep and was listening to music. Hopped on ts again and lord do i love it. Roadmap looks sick and I'm happy I found out about this.
A race to the finish the game to make my own music in the game. BRAVO. I'm in for whatever this developer makes in the future and whatever the pipeline of OFFBEAT, I'm in
Writing music hasn't been more fun. With a lessons mode and a few more toys in the full release it could be a legit learning tool.
