Gnome Pogchamp. RPG with charming pixel graphics and an interesting combat system.
Coping (or not) with real world trauma in a world of bright colors and, of course, the odd. The artwork and animations feel lavish and a perfect modern "HD-ification" of titles like Earthbound it heralds back to. In contrast to one of the above reviews, I actually thought the music accompanies the game quite fantastically. As I've seen in a couple other reviews, there are a few clunky grammatical errors, but not enough to harm the overall flow. Overall a very well put together experience that hopefully becomes even stronger through Early Access!

Found it on the pixel art reddit, wanted to see the crt filters in action but really enjoyed the gameplay. Hope that we don't need to wait for full version for much longer.
I told as many nice words as I could. I spared every enemy I could. On the other hand I picked up all acorns and smashed all flowers there were. Soon, there will be no forest, but the hunger, overcrowded desolation and death. Immersion possibilites 10/10 Love this game! PS I REALLY need the full content of "Beyond the cool and lame. Flirting for dummies"
I have very little experience with Mother-like games outside of Toby Fox, but I can already tell that this game is special. The little animations are brilliant, the music is rock solid, and the jokes are funny. I am very glad I backed this on Kickstarter. My only real feedback at this point is that I feel the English translation might need another pass. There have been multiple typos and small errors already. I can still tell what's going on and it's not that bad, but it is distracting.
Just wanted to give you thumbs up and tell you i can't wait for the full game!
I didn’t know about this game untill lately. I wish I didn’t miss their Kickstarter capaign. I really love the art style. The pixel-art is charming. Whole wolrd is very immersive and atmoshperic. I really love all the details. The story is interesting. Jokes, althought sometimes cheesy, are funny and I had some good laughs. I was skeptic at the beginning because I read some comments describing this game as „Earthbound about depression” and there was some games like that in the past. But I didn’t feel like everything is about that. There were some darker undertones and the story explains why the main character is the way she is, but it’s not like OMG IM SAD EMO PROTAG AND NO ONE UNERSTANDS ME.The battle system is something new for me. I had to do some battles before I figured out how to juggle the party members moods. And since then I had fun with it. I see some place for improvements and I’m hyped to see the final results. I recommend Oddventure to anyone who love classic and retro games with a little modern twist. Can’t wait to play the full release!
Played for about 2 hours mostly grinding and kinda doing story but alot of exploring. The adult humor really throws this game together super well. It's an amazing story so far with a twist of Omori vibes as well. Can't wait to play more tomorrow and see what happens. Stay Odd!!!
Video Review https://youtu.be/VwTKtdYqj20
I Really Want To Recommend Oddventure
Excellent presentation, fantastic themes, and engaging characters with a lot of Earthbound (Mother 3) charm. There is a lot to like about Oddventure. But I can't bring myself to offer a positive rating at this time of review. It's not finished.
Issue
While I was having a lot of fun, it didn't last long as each combat grew more drawn out, with enemies hurled at you repeatedly, in confined spaces where you couldn't avoid them. Leading to nonstop clashes while your in-game characters' moods grow unstable, causing them to permanently skip their turns when fighting begins. This is a bad design because early on, you have access to few means to remedy this issue. You can't rest, you can't buy chill pills, you can buy salts for the Dodo and Bunny, but that doesn't exactly solve the issue with Charlie and her brother. Combat is a concern, because it's slow. Drawn out and wrestles control away from you the player, persistently. The story about Charlie and her childhood feel out of place, as in, they feel like they show up in weird sections.
Conclusion
I'll have to return to this game when it's released, partly because I'm worried that my save file will be wiped once it exits Early Access, and because I can't tolerate the combat, no matter who I'm fighting. Dwarves, mushrooms, gnomes, wolves, and the fox. The mood system is not an enjoyable mechanism in its current condition. I see the potential, but picture taking on a turn-based strategy game and being unable to accomplish anything 75% of the time because your turn is automatically skipped, resulting in death. This is the how the game feels.
After a few weeks of Pokerogue, it's nice to have some actual story in between my battles :D
