Early review, might change it later as I go through more of the story. I wasn't aware that this game is based on the mobile game (which I have no knowledge about). I finished 2 very recently and wanted the itch scratched desperately, so I foolishly bought this without going through the demo first, which was a huge mistake. First off, the colour palette just looks way too saturated compared to the other 2 games, so much so it didn't even feel like I am playing an Octopath game. It genuinely bothered me so, so much that I cannot possibly ignore it. Second, the self-insert silent protagonist is an awful choice. Even if this game is based off a mobile game where the protagonist is silent, this is a terrible game to have a silent protagonist. There are many moments thus far in the game where our character's reaction to the world around them is heavily limited by the fact that they cannot speak. On top of this, everything about the UI is an absolute eyesore. The different font I can get over, but the menus and navigation felt very clunky and weird. I suppose this would be fine as a standalone title, but I would never regard this as a mainline game.
The game offers a new way to play JRPGs
