I genuinely enjoy this game, even though it's a gacha. I'm usually very resistant to games that constantly try to push players into spending money, so I don't normally recommend this genre. That said, the biggest issue with this game is something I don't think will ever be fixed. There are tons of mini games, side activities, and daily events, and it almost reminds me of a Yakuza game with how many mini games there are. That's one of the game's strongest points. The problem is that nearly all of those activities are tied to a City Stamina system. You only earn rewards while you have City Stamina, which refreshes weekly. It's incredibly easy to burn through your entire week's stamina in just an hour or two. Once that's gone, you're left asking, "Why bother?" You can still play the mini games, but you won't receive any rewards. Even worse, the game constantly reminds you that you could have earned rewards if you still had City Stamina. It feels like an artificial limitation designed to encourage spending rather than letting players enjoy the content at their own pace. I understand the Corpo reasoning behind it, but I think it ultimately hurts both the game and its player base. Despite that criticism, I still enjoy the game. I just wish it respected players time a little more instead of locking so much of its content behind a weekly stamina limit. Those are my thoughts. Thanks.

It was familiar strategy so no thanks : Hook players with tons of free stuff at first, get them addicted, then suck their money dry like a leech
Game is once again using AI generated content. For something as small as a sea horse being Ai generated, who knows how much more they are still generating with AI
First of all, my negative recommendation is based on whether I'd want anyone to CONTINUE playing it. Not about getting into it. If it were only about getting into it, then I'd say yes to recommending it. And the reason my opinion is like this is because currently, the game is in a state where it's better for players to 'use and throw' it instead of sticking with it. Pros: There are many. I don't need to reiterate them. It's the same as other reviews. Urban gameplay, great combat, beautiful graphics, actually decent optimization, etc. Cons: This is where it gets bad. 1. The most immediately frustrating thing. You can make great builds for your characters, tune them just right and be proud of yourself. And then realize there's no good place to use them. There are no dungeons or something similar where you can mow down waves upon waves of enemies (at least, not in normal gameplay outside of 999 nights). There are boss battles that you can do but it's easy to get tired of them. 2. You have this thing called a console and modules. They're basically equipment. They're heavily based on RNG. Naturally, to make your desired perfect build, you'd need to grind yourself into the ground. Not a problem. Plenty of games are like that and the specific event for this isn't even that hard. Literally half a minute is enough per run at worst. But here's the problem. This whole thing, this thing that involves RNG/luck is LOCKED BEHIND A STAMINA SYSTEM. What's the max number of times you can do this event then? Roughly 8-9 times. And if you're unlucky? You could spend weeks on them and still not get what you want. And that's assuming you don't that stamina (specifically, pixels) on anything else. Which is unrealistic. 3. The gacha currency. Technically, you use specific dice to roll the gacha. And if you don't have enough dice, you auto-buy them with Annulith. So annulith is basically the gacha currency. The issue is that you never have enough annulith as a free player. And it's not that much better for paid players either. Do you know? Even the most expensive premium currency bundle is not enough to secure a single hard pity on the gacha. So if you're unlucky or if you (like me) wasted the free initially massive amounts of annulith on useless stuff? Well, tough luck. 4. The normal currency (Fons). Fons is basically normal money meant for spending on normal gameplay (buying house, buying vehicles, upgrading them, buying decorations, gifts, lottery cards, some supplies, etc). And this thing that should be freely grindable at will is (unbelievably) also weekly capped. Assuming you've already all the fons rewards for milestones in various events, the weekly grind for fons is basically 1 mil from volleyball/bank-heist, 700k from city stamina, 60k daily = 420k from cafe, 30k daily = 210k from paid sub. So a total of 2.33 million fons per week. If you think that's a lot, let me tell you. IT'S NOT. Just in the recent 1.3 patch, they added a house you can buy for 6.9 mil. As if that's not enough, every patch comes with a FOMO mystery box that requires spending 19.88 mil fons to fully open them (if you're not using annulith, the gacha currency, instead of fons). There will never be a point in time where you can own everything you want. Infuriatingly, this is still the case even if you're a whale who spends big on this game. The economy is completely busted in this game. Everything has an extra zero. And the devs have the gall to display 'please spend responsibly' in the mall, where you're not confirmed to get what you're aiming for even if you spend IR-responsibly. TLDR; Game is great to play. Enjoy the missions and exploration and everything else. Then resolutely dump it when you find yourself mindlessly scraping for even the smallest rewards. This isn't a game you can 100%. It's logically impossible. It's a game worth getting into. But not a game worth staying in. (Unless of course, you don't care about progress and only want to enjoy some nice views.)
At the end of the day, Neverness to Everness is a gacha game.
- I really liked NTE at the start, it pulled me in with a unique world, likeable characters, and fantastic cutscenes. In the beginning, the story was quite fun and somewhat engaging despite the jank, the events were generous enough even if they weren't very entertaining, and there was plenty to do - not to mention, that no 50/50 on the gacha banner, right? Yeah, that's one of their big selling points, and it brought a lot of people through the door, and rightfully so, as it's a very good thing. However. Now that the grace period of launch is over and the game has started its life cycle, things are not looking good. Let me give you my thoughts as a dolphin - someone who has put a bit of money in the game, just enough to get the pass and the little monthly currency card every month. -
The Story.

Story spoilers ahead.
Oh god, the story. My favourite characters are Nanally, Daffodill, and Hotori. The first big story featured Nanally and Daffodill quite heavily, and the end of 'Act 1' essentially left Nanally's condition on a cliff hanger, and Daffodill's true allegiance in a grey zone (even though the trope is pretty obvious and everyone could tell what was going to happen there), but then, in a stroke of mad genius that is so profound and intelligent that I am yet to understand why they did it, they skipped Act 2 and went right to Act 3, which opened up with Nanally completely okay, and in her dialogue she immediately spoiled Daffodill's status as well. The kicker? Nanally was a cameo. A quest giver. She didn't take part in the story that came with that update at all. Her section could've been removed to avoid spoilers and nothing would've changed. Then with the next update, they went back to Act 2. What's the point? Why should I be engaged in the story if the game itself is going to spoil me for no reason like that? There's no stakes! Which sucks because I was really enjoying the story up until that point! -
Gacha, Balance, Powercreep, and You.
NTE defenders will be sure to let you know about the 50/50 and pity rollover. The problem here is that the last few characters have had crucial parts of their kits locked behind their Awakenings. So yes, you can get your desired character with no risk of rolling another character by accident, but you're going to need to do that twice (Shinku), or maybe three times (Zankou), to actually have them feeling complete. Mentioning Zankou... Congrats, we already have the character that is going to be the thing that future content is balanced around until she's knocked off the top DPS spot by someone else that's even more cracked. We've went from Lacrimosa coming out and being arguably the strongest Main DPS, to Shinku coming out after her and arguably being the strongest Main DPS, to Zankou coming out after her and arguably being the strongest Main DPS. Do you see a pattern here? This happened in Tower of Fantasy as well, and everything in ToF was a chore to fight because they were all damage sponges. You can spy this in NTE's late game, and the little challenge event rerun going on at the time of writing this. Needless to say, I consider Zankou bad for the future of this game's balance. -
The Economy and Lootboxes.
'Fons' are the main in-game/in-lore currency. You'd expect people to be more excited to get gacha currency from events/gifts, but no, because the main methods of earning this important currency have a weekly cap. Fons are tied to progression via the City Tycoon system, you need to spend a certain amount to level up, but as you get higher ranked, you also need to meet certain other requirements, like having a certain amount of cars or houses. Easy enough, takes a bit of time, but you can earn that money and buy that property. Except, I have been hard stuck at 41 for a month or so because of these FOMO lootboxes they keep introducing with every. single. patch. It's worth mentioning that I am level 54, I have pretty much every way of earning fons maxed, and I still cannot keep up. The top tier house costs 8 million fons, the most recent lootbox asks for 20 million fons, with things inside of it that may not come back. I was willing to give this a pass when it was the first lootbox, the Porsche, the limited real life collab costing 20mil. Then they released the Draco lootbox, and that totalled to maybe 12mil? Reasonable, not a collab. Then they went back to 20mil for the Jetski? Why? Not a collab vehicle. Probably because they decided to include three character skins with it, skins that could've easily been added to the premium store instead, but were added to the lootbox to justify the price. (Did I mention that the Porsche is the fastest land vehicle in the game, you can no longer get it, and you can be matched with it in a race while you're in the starter car? Isn't that just fun?) So if you don't want to miss out, you better stop progressing - but wait, even if you have everything maxed out, you might not even be able to get everything from the lootboxes! Don't worry my friend, you can both spend the premium currency on it, and also buy fons with premium currency! Lucky!!! There's too much demand for fons at the moment compared to the amount we can actually obtain. This needs some serious attention, because I'm getting tired of these lootboxes when there's a perfectly good vehicle store that most of these vehicles could be added to. -
The Events
This part will be short and sweet, don't worry; they suck. They're genuinely really bad and not fun in the slightest. The only reason people keep singing their praises is because most of them let you drain your weekly stamina cap faster. I have not had fun with any of them bar maybe the race one at the very start. - Listen, I really do want to like NTE because I really like the characters, but it's becoming such a chore to play so early in its lifespan, and with a certain other gacha game coming out next year that encroaches on NTE's niche? They cannot afford to be making mistakes like this that push people away from the game. If I were to start playing right now and be met with the lootbox prices, I'd just uninstall. But unfortunately, I'm of the opinion that the thoughts of the global community will mostly go ignored. You know why.
