This is a tough one to write, because the positives are also part of the negatives, and I do enjoy it despite the shortcomings. I played level zero for over an hour, and I did nothing but pick up carpet mushrooms, some wood, and some torn wallpaper. Nothing else to see or do besides wander aimlessly looking for a door that is (per the Dev)
1km from your spawn
. It took longer than was enjoyable to locate it, and it was a bit maddening, but it is also true-to-story. That is also a positive. The Backrooms, per the source material, are monotonous and endless. This game nails that (and I am not being snarky). It's a tough way to game, but it's also very much 'Backrooms'. What is missing is the sense of dread in knowing that you are not alone. That is absent from the starting level, which is to say that roughly the first hour of game-play is a pure walking simulator with nothing of note to look at. Pushing through the monotony in hopes of something more is kind of brilliant, but it also fails as it pushes it too far; right into boredom. When levels changed and entities appeared, there wasn't any real sense of dread because there were so many, and so constantly, that it became routine to jog away from them or pummel them with an axe. A solid positive for me is the ability to adjust volume (including muting the music, which made the environment more immersive) and to disable head-bob. While disabling profanity didn't matter one bit to me, it is a nice touch for certain ages/situations. Considering all of that, and despite the abysmal voice-acting, I'd still suggest it with the above caveats noted. The deal-breaker is that the Dev is abandoning the game due to poor coverage by Steam (per statements on Discord, and mentioned on the forum here without dispute). I won't suggest a game that is to be left for dead. Note: after a decent chunk of time, the Dev has put some new work into the game. This review will be updated if enough changes to show a renewed interest by the Dev in this project.

Even though it isn't being updated, it's probably the best backrooms game I've ever played.
Don't. Unless you really love the backrooms and walking simulators (Not because it is just a walking simulator, it's a little more than just that) but because this game doesn't look like it has any new content plans for the future and the game just feels unfinished. I don't know why but it just feels unfinished.
the game is worth much more than the money it asks for, but unfortunately it doesn't scare you, because you just need to put your back against the wall and beat up any entity that is attacking you. Even the entities themselves are not scary, they have something that makes them more similar to monsters of a video game like a 90s Doom. However, one is afraid for one's survival, because one has to find food and drink over time . Unfortunately, this dynamic becomes extremely punitive going forward, which in fact made me stop playing: I had reached a level similar to pipe dreams but later on, and having nothing to drink the character started to not see well anymore , until it was literally impossible for me to go on. It is also not clear why the game was abandoned by the developer, but in fact know it, this is a dead project which is however worth at least 10 dollars / euros, provided however that you like challenges with lots of punishments and almost zero rewards. il gioco vale molto più dei soldi che chiede, ma purtroppo non mette paura, perchè basta mettersi spalle al muro e picchiare l'eventuale entità che ci stia attaccando.
