Before getting into the review, i wanna say that i was expectiing this game to be more story/ visual novel/ making story decisions and less management. While the game starts out the way i had expected, it eventually turns into more of a "you are in your base and need to make decisions regarding your people and ressources" kinda thing. The game is generally well written and a lot of fun to clock through. It often is a wall of text tho, so be aware of that before you buy. The atmosphere is really cool, i liked the options regarding my character and the love interest character. The story options are also really nice and i had a blast in the beginning. For me the gameplay got very boring when i had established a base and then had to go through years and years of planning, managing and walking aorund the same few maps. Yes, there was still stuff to be done but the cool story segments i loved so much in the beginning were really tuned down to a tiny amount. For some, maybe even most players, this strategy part is the best part of the game. it is well done and you can probably go really in depth with your planning, too. It just couldn't keep my attention and i am not sure i will continue playing it for that very reason.
Its a great game that goes to good lengths to distinguish its self from other text based games of its kind. a notepad is helpful for some parts, and I would say to be sure and give yourself enough time to play it through without getting distracted. i find that its a bit hard to get your head back into it if you take along break.

I absolutely cannot believe I slept on this game when it came out. Amazing.
Its quite good. A little bit, choose your own adventure, a (really) little bit management sim. The story is nice, even if it has problems. You can play it multiple times to see how it pans out, but I would take some notes the first time around, if I were you, a few negatives (: - the seasonal-autosave-only system clashes with a system, where some choices cause you to miss dialogue, because you can`t back out sometimes, even if you should be able to. Example, you can talk to X characters and there is the opportunity to spend the day with someone. You go to someone to interest you first and then have the choice. Spend the day with him/her and never talk to the rest or talk to the rest and don`t spend the day with him (instead of going back) or reload the autosave and do all the things agains that lead to this. - its a little bit to oldschool:at some points, you better take notes, at one point you better draw a map, - and it would help , if you knew a little bit arthurian legend and greek myths - the ending isn`t bad, but its very short (Small spoiler: keep some Power, you have to pay fpr your good ending.), even for your romantic choice and it seems, some choices are more integrated into the story than others. Last but not least, I would have liked more meat on the romantic bone, so to speak. tl;dr you get your moneys worth. A fine game, with a few issues.
Great game!

As someone who has played text adventures since the pre-zork days of Colossal Cave Adventures (yes, I'm dating myself. Possibly with C-14). as well as a fan of dating sims (with yuri options), I can wholeheartedly recommend this game. There is also a resource management aspect to the game, which is not as high on my list of favorite genres, but the difficulty scaling gives a lot of control as to how pervasive that element is. Some people have complained about the tone of the game, especially with regard to anachronistic (often Meta) humour or references. If you couldn't enjoy Aladdin because Genie broke the 4th wall to make jokes the viewer would understand, but less of a logical basis in the world, then yes, this is not for you. If you like Story A and Story B to stay nicely in their tray, and wouldn't want to see Peter Pan fighting the ghost of Blackbeard (not a literal example from the game), then this is also not for you. As the game goes on, it definitely drops some off-recipe ingredients into the stew. If your primary goal is a dating sim, then, despite my mentioning it in the first paragraph, this may or may not be for you. It is an element of the game, but more of a background element. I would have preferred a bit more romance/courting/dating in some circumstances, but it is definitely not the game's primary focus. Of you're still reading this, then the answer is, YES, you should get and enjoy this game. If you're cheap, like me, it goes on sale periodically for a reasonable percentage off, and I definitely got my money's worth in enjoyment.
Choose your adventure game that manages to incorporate strategy and resource management. Although the game appears to be a visual novel experience at first glance, it is far deeper and more sophisticated. The only consistent themes are a lot of reading and making decisions after each paragraph. Unlike most visual novels, decisions are important in this one. This is because some decisions give you resources that you can use throughout the game. When you need to make a decision and have enough of a particular resource, you may decide to use it in order to obtain a larger reward. But even if you don't have it, the story will proceed on its own; you simply won't have many options later on. Gold and men are both "real" resources. While gold is gone once spent, men eventually return after being sent on errands and missions. Power and renown are spent like gold, although they are frequently utilized to persuade people. It is also possible to purchase a resource with gold. This becomes available once you have established your home base. When it occurs, a plethora of new options become available. The data that show how well your war against the Sheriff is progressing is the most essential. It also shows what happens when a season comes to an end. Depending on your actions over a single season, you may gain one resource while losing another. The trick is to not cross the line between being an outlaw and a bandit, as this will make it much more difficult for people to trust you. Success is heavily reliant on factions. There are four of them, and you won't be able to satisfy all of them. It's a smart idea to invest money into the one the sheriff is after. Because the game saves before big decisions, you can always go back and try again if the story isn't going your way. It’s hard to fail unless you deliberately choose the worst options, so a single playthrough will take several hours. There are several events that might play out differently. You may be drawn into a conflict in which you move characters around and observe how defense and offensive alter. You can also fall in love with many characters, and you can even play as a female Robin Hood. Text matters more in the game than art. All you get to see are a few silhouettes, maybe a change in background and a small banner for locations. Although story throws in fantasy elements such magic and dragons, it doesn’t go too far away when it comes to the fight between Robin Hood and the Sheriff.
Took me invested for hours when I fired it up for the first time - that is way more many recent games I bought managed to do. Is not a historical or serious take on the matter at hand but rather a light fairy tale like take with dragons, ogers, forest wisps, knights, etc. Am eager to play more to see where the story takes me. Seems to have many different paths indeed. Music is great, paintings of the locations are nice (would prefer them to be more in line with historical realism then fairy tale knights in fully clad armour in the 12th century but alas...) The game would need a bit more polish I think though or maybe I just didn't grasp the game mechanics fully yet (both most likely, heh). Am endorsing the game and giving you a thumb up if you fancy to get it (but make sure you aren't afraid of reading lots of text!). Ultrawide (2560x1080) resolution does not work right so you will have to play the game windowed in normal 1080p. Update: Managed to get to the end of the game. There aren't many games where they managed to keep me interested all the way to the end but this one did albeit it took me only 17 hours to reach it so wasn't too much of a time hog at all. I enjoyed the game a lot and will be doing a replay now that I understand the game mechanics more. A note to future players - don't try to satisfy all the factions like I did - it will only make you subpar in all of them - focus in one or two and you will do well. A heartwarming recommendation this one and am looking forward to playing the next game in line from this developer.
Had a great time playing this game, just wish I had more lol
