About

In News Tower, dive into the chaos of 1930s New York in a management tycoon game where you build and manage your own newspaper.
From the Great Depression to the brink of World War II every Sunday brings a new deadline, and every article is a strategic decision. Between editorial dilemmas, newsroom breakdowns, and political pressure, you’ll shape the future of your newspaper to start your media empire!

Start with a blank floor and shape your newsroom from the ground up. As your newspaper grows, unlock new levels and transform each one into a fully functional hub of journalism. From printing stations and compositing desks to the legal corner for damage control, every workstation is key to keep the presses running.
Smart layout choices: walls, elevators, pneumatic tubes directly impact how efficiently your team works under pressure. And because morale matters too, add coffee machines, posters, and the essential indoor green plant to ensure your employees’ well-being!

Reporters, photographers and janitors without forgetting the unexpendable ads salesperson… Lead a diverse team across 30+ unique job roles each with their own traits, needs, and expertise.
Juggle hunger, focus and logistics to maximize productivity. Unlock dozens of upgrades from gramophone to slot machines, to turn your dingy tower into a prestigious workspace. A happy newsroom is a productive newsroom, especially when Sunday is always just around the corner.

Each week begins with one goal: getting your edition ready for Sunday’s deadline. Assign leads to your reporters, choose your editorial approach, influence public perception through your chosen tone and tags, and compose your newspaper.
Cover key topics like Crime, Politics, or Sports, and refine your story’s angle to match your editorial line. Well-researched articles or eye-grabbing headlines, will you aim for respect or reach?
Every choice impacts your readers’ perception, reactions, and sales. Nail the mix and profits soar or miss the mark and you risk backlash, lawsuits, or courtesy visits from the mob...

Four major factions partake in the city’s power struggle: the Mayor, the Mafia, the Military (in 1.0), and High Society. They’ll push their own agendas and offer shady deals in exchange for cash, influence, exclusive rewards, and vital new connections across the Big Apple. Whose truth will you print, and whose secrets will you bury?
Not everyone is in favor of freedom of the press…

Publish your newspaper across NYC districts, from Harlem to Wall Street. Each borough has its own reader profiles, preferences, and rewards. To grow your subscriber base, tailor stories to local tastes while staying ahead of two aggressive rivals: the Empire Observer and Jersey Beacon. They’ll steal your precious scoops but by targeting the right interests, you can win their audiences and become New York’s most influential publisher.

It is what it says on the Headline, but it's so much better than you'd think. It's really a mastery of these progressive achievement genre, with some creativity and progressively unlocked elements that are very clever. The only grind-type elements can be optimized away and the tips are helpful to resolve 90% of it.
Recommend but with a note... I got this game back in 2024. I really enjoyed it, but there was only so much to do. Now there have been a ton of updates, so I was excited to pick it back up. Figured I needed a refresher after almost two years, so I started the tutorial. ... yeah, I'm struggling. Ya'll, I know it's a good game, but the tutorial isn't fun anymore. It throws way too much at the player all at once. Clicking through all the little pop-up info dumps feels like its own mini-game. The lady who helps you set up says she's not going to see you for a bit. When I first played it you really were on your own to learn by trial and error, but now that line doesn't even make sense because she immediately pops up again and again and again and again. It's telling me five different features while I'm out of paper, the mob has an impossible ask, and everything just broke. When I played two years ago it was fast paced. Now it's just hectic. There has to be a better way to introduce players to the game. I've given up twice already because I was just too frustrated. Just to clarify, the music is fantastic, I like the ties to real world history, and all that. I really enjoyed it when I first played. It reminds me of the best part of an older game called The Movies. I can't not recommend it for that reason, but I wouldn't tell a friend to buy it right now.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's fun enough, but the way expenses scale is kind of insane. Profitablity becomes almost impossible at some point.
I’ve played longer than the stats show. This is truly a great game that has kept me interested for many Mondays—my usual gaming day. It’s not necessarily the kind of game you play for hours and hours, day after day. Instead, it’s perfect to pick up from time to time and print a few newspapers. The strong side of the game is its very addictive core loop. You print newspapers, unlock new features, expand across the map, and gain more subscribers. Everything contributes to building a larger newspaper empire. A good game always balances achievement with resistance, and this one hits the right pace for me. Progress comes steadily enough to keep things interesting. Since the game focuses on producing a single thing—the newspaper—it has to do that well, and it does. There are enough engaging mechanics along the way, such as shaping public perception and completing smaller tasks connected to the territories you want to take over. The main weakness may also be part of its strength: the loop is so central that I find myself taking breaks between sessions (usually playing weekly) to keep it fresh. I also sometimes struggled to keep track of all my reporters and the many half-finished reporting trails. There is a small notification when one case in a chain is completed, but it’s easy to miss. These are fairly minor issues, though. As of spring 2026 the game is still actively supported, with developers continuing to add content, so some of these things may well be improved over time. A DLC could help expand the content further and prolong the overall playtime. There might also be ways to reduce the sense of repetition that can build up from week to week.Another possibility would be new types of reporting and editorial mechanics. Investigative journalism could involve longer story chains, hidden leads, whistleblowers, or risks of backlash from powerful groups. Cultural reporting, war correspondence, or financial journalism could each introduce new mechanics and influence different parts of society. The game could also deepen the internal management of the newspaper itself. More developed newsroom systems— rival newspapers reacting to your stories, or editorial debates over the tone of coverage—could add layers without breaking the core loop. This would keep the central mechanic of producing newspapers intact while giving players more meaningful decisions.
I had a hard time to catched up with the phase because the text and button is too small on Steam Deck.
This game is awesome but my god it sucks starting out, until everyone in your first initial 3 floors is properly leveled up you just shovel out poop newspaper articles that make no money. had to take a loan eventually
I like it so far. The music and animations are tight and the gameplay is interesting enough. I do wish it was a little more freeform. I restarted several times trying to get a good Crime/Politics paper going and was skipping all the other topics not realizing that wasn't going to work out. That being said I see the appeal for people that want more goals and direction. I didn't get too far in, so I can't really speak to the late game, but it's a solid play for at least a few hours.
