Reviews

Sehr cooles Spiel! Zwar eher ein Walking Simulator mir einfachen Rätseln aber die Welt ist lovecraftian Horror pur 👌
A solid visual walking sim, and one of the best interpretations of cosmic horror I've seen yet. Biggest points are the art direction and atmosphere. The game mimics Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Giger's work to a tee. You may even find assets that are references to some specific artwork. The audio accompanying these grim visuals highlights what living in a world imagined by those two legendary artists would sound like. Bone's snapping, desert wind howling, flesh squelching, voices incomprehensible. If your going to make a game where the player just presses WASD as the core gameplay, in my eyes there should be something there in the visual/narrative department that hooks you. Makes you want to keep walking. And Necrophosis succedes at that. The story itself is fascinating, at least to me. Carries themes of creation, divinity, and what remains when even the gods die. How little you are in the grand scheme of Death and Rebirth. Although one fault I have is that when a NPC talks to you, you can't move or continue until the dialogue is finished. No option to skip through thee lines. I also think the base movement speed should be a bit faster, as some levels are very open, and it takes a bit to get there. This might be because the game is rather short, and the Dev didn't want people to beat the game then go get a refund before two hours of playtime has passed. I wouldn't knock points for having a short length, by the way. It does not overstay it's welcome, a short length is not always a bad thing. And as for Subconscious DLC... honestly, just buy the bundle that includes it with the main game when it's on sale. It's one extra level, and while a good level with lots of original assets, it is only a little over 20 mins long. Another flaw is that the animations look a little wack. Stiff movements and clipping are common. They are not terrible, but noticable and immersion breaking. Final flaw is the inventory system. You have to carry certain objects across the level to other NPCs to progress. These can range from one handed items to two handed items. The two handed items are considered "heavy", and blocks you from sprinting. However, you can just switch to a one handed item in your inventory, or be bare handed. This will not drop what you have. SO, the slowdown of heavy items is pointless, as you can just switch to a different one-handed item and get your sprint back. Another issue is you can not switch items while sprinting, you must hold still. I have a feeling this was also an arbitrary feature to pad the games runtime so people would not refund it. My first playthrough was 2.6 hours, a little over the refund window. Despite these faults, I still consider Nercophosis good, but has some jank and obvious fluff that it would greatly benefit without.
When Necrophosis was released, it was something new and fresh. The walking simulator with graphics based on art of Beksinski--nobody has have done it before. It was good despite the obvious signs that the developers were running out of ides as the game progressed: last two levels were bland and full of repeating puzzles. The Subconsciousness, on the other hand, is just almost a carbon copy of the first release. Same puzzles, same unintelligible speeches which you can't skip. "Almost" a carbon copy, because there are differences, but not for the better: additions of teeth and fangs which add grotesque character to the graphics and are so different from original Beksinski's artwork; also, increased complexity of the puzzles leading to countless scans of overloaded inventory. Is it worth $5? Five dollars is not much, nowadays you can't even buy a lunch for it, and this amount probably more less equals to the value of the addition to the game. Is it worth it at all? Frankly, after playing it through, I think it is not. I don't know what the future plans of game developers are, but I believe that there should be no further additions to Necrophosis. I would like to see a new game, based on different idea, new original development (stress on "original").
剧情约等于无,纯纯谜语人,美术太喜欢了。
Immersive, great artwork. Wish there was more lore. 9/10
Артхаусные Ужасы с Кристиной и ее котом. Я в своей жизни столько Голых Людей и мерзостей не видела. Очень похоже на Scorn. Рекомендую играть на пустой желудок!
