In a back-alley cafe, the dead are granted one last night to mingle with the living. Necrobarista follows a dynamic and diverse cast of characters as they navigate Melbourne's hipstery coffee culture, the questionable ethics of necromancy, and the process of letting go.

Reviews
Before I begin this review, i must say: This game is a better fit for people who like to read books, than people who play visual novels. In that sense, this game is a great introduction to the world of gaming for a friend who, as i said, likes reading books. This is a good game, at worst a 6 out of 10, and at best a 7.5 out of 10. God i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the characters, all of them, Ned was such a pain in the ass at the beginning, yet he grew on me. Finding out how incredibly old Shay is was... wow. I cant really name every single thing i like about Necrobarista without spoiling it, or turning this into an essay. Now, in spite of all the (negative) criticisms im going to lay out, i do recommend it. For a game whose story is so intimately connected to death and the afterlife, i think it wasted its opportunity to have a stronger emotional impact. Its ending is easily the game's weakest part. It felt kind of rushed, now, a feeling of "things are moving fast" is not unusual for
the sudden incoming death of someone
, the game did not play into this at all, instead the ending feels rushed in a bad way. The epilogue, oddly, is more enjoyable than the ending itself, even if its short. I like the world building, i'd say its less in depth than Va11-ha11a, there are a lot of things that remain unexplained to the point that its not mysterious, but frustrating. If you are going to play this game, read every last bit of dialogue during the free roam segments. There are many small things in this game that are scuffed, none of which are particularly terrible. There is one however that by far the worst one and most immersion breaking, when the cafe is supposed to be filled to the brim with customers, but its clearly empty. The devs tried to hide how empty it is by having the camera pointing away from the tables. Really? The way they executed the addition of shadowy humanoid figures to represent customers (only added at the last 1/4 of the game) barely helped. Last but not least, the text. Something visual novels do, quite subtly at that, is to let dialogue run on its own. That is, sentences slowly show up letter by letter (typically with a slider to adjust how fast it does this), until the very end. In necrobarista, the text stops at every comma, every period, which at times helps for building suspension, but it took me some time to get used to the spacebar spam (dont do it with your mouse, seriously). Once again, dont let my criticisms stop you from playing, its good. I am sad that its over, but at the same time, im satisfied :-)

A kino better than cinema
great soundtrack, great visuals, but the story is very lacking. it had a lot of potential, but thats about it. half of the characters are undeveloped or developed badly. you can see soul put into this game but all i could feel while reading this is that its some random ocs of a random tumblr artists that loves their characters a lot but hasnt fully properly made a logical and chronological story for them yet. i would be lying if i said didnt enjoy it at all despite those major flaws, but i still just cant give this game a good rating
oof
