Or were you deaf or were you blind when you left your two fine legs behind, Or was it sailing on the sea when you got the cannonball to your knee, I too was young and I was slim and I had a leg for every limb, But now I’ve got no legs at all, they were both shot away by a cannonball.

About

Admiral John Byng who spent his life sailing the seas for the British Navy, died in 1757, by bullets on the deck of HMS Monarch. Admiral Horatio Nelson, carrying on with the utmost duty, fell similarly to a French musket shot in 1805.
Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail.
But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat.
.......................................................................................................................................................
Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.
Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face. Broadside weight matters, but even a smaller vessel can overcome the superior enemy by focusing on the enemy weak spots.
No game has come closer to the replication of the Age of Sail sailing mechanics and combat. Thats why Naval action was named one best releases from early access in 2019 by Valve!
Beautiful ships – We have been painstakingly recreating the beautiful ships of the Age of sail period. Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed trials were used in the creation of vessels. The game features 50+ ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates allowing the player to experience every possible role of that era.

Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of realistic sailing will help you win battles in most adverse conditions.
Conquest and PVP Activities Fight for the domination of the West Indies, recreated based on 18th Century maps and navigational charts. Build ships, trade, attack enemies of your nation almost everywhere and capture their ships and Open trading outposts in the ports governed by your clan.
Damage model – Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires, explosions and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood types affect strength of the hull and cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls at extreme angles.
Built for PVP: Absolutely no hackers.
Hacking is a killer of fun in PVP games. From the start we have built the tech around one main goal - complete elimination of hacking from PVP. Naval Action is one of the few games where hacking is made impossible by design. Every battle action is calculated on the servers, even water and wave shapes. Yes - you have heard it right: there is a special server that calculates and replicates waves to all users in battle. When fighting in Naval action you can be sure you are only facing skills and ship fittings.
Gunnery and weapons – Major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to mortars to carronades and obusiers. Fort and land batteries will provide you with support during battles near shores. Mortar vessels can destroy fortifications, though they may require an escort.

Each gun has realistic ballistics and penetration performance based on historical gun charts and admiralty tests. Heel and wind affect the shooting distance and will require a change in tactics.

Reviews
Please do not purchase this game unless you have a clear understanding of its current state. The community has been severely impacted, with many players feeling demoralized by recent changes. In my view, the development cycle often reflects a pattern of one step forward and three steps back. Development appears to be driven by shifting priorities rather than a consistent, long-term vision. There is no clearly communicated roadmap, and little indication of planned, structured improvements, aside from frequent and disruptive meta shifts that can negate the time and effort players invest in developing PvP skills. Additionally, features that were previously functional have, in some cases, deteriorated or been removed. While change is an inevitable part of any game’s development, it should be guided by clear intent and direction. The most recent update introduced meta changes that do not appear well-reasoned or constructive, and they do not contribute meaningfully to the game’s growth or long-term stability. Instead, they risk further discouraging players, particularly newer ones, who may find the current environment even less accessible than before. I would like to be able to give this game a positive review. However, based on my experience over several years, the overall trajectory has been downward. There have been some genuinely positive additions, such as the solo zone and adjustments to open-world sailing speed, but these stand out as rare improvements. In fact, they are among the only changes in over a year that felt clearly beneficial. This game has significant potential. Unfortunately, I, and many others, have lost confidence that it will ultimately realize that potential. Player population trends reinforce these concerns. Concurrent player counts often fall into the 80–90 range during off-peak times, with peaks around 300. Given the scale of the map, where crossing it can take the better part of a full day, these low population levels make the experience feel increasingly sparse. Current development decisions appear to be exacerbating this issue rather than addressing it.

What happend to this game.. I bought it in 2019, have 600hrs in, but this has changed into a total nightmare. What has it become... Pls return back to 2019.
The game used to be very good. I say “used to be” because the current developer isn’t doing anything to bring it back to life. Instead of listening to the community, they do whatever they want, implementing absurd changes that completely ruin the gameplay. With every update, the experience gets worse, and it feels like they ignore what originally made the game great. If you try to say anything to them on the official community Discord, they ban you immediately.
Once this game was my most favorite, stunningly beutiful landscapes and it WAS realy full of action. Today new devs just pretend to develope the game. They have made it nearly 10 times more time consuming and boring compared to this what it was few years ago. Thats why most of players cant afford it to himself, if they have aslo daytime job and cant spend all day to deliver materials for ammo crafting. Devs just rise and lower the ships stats up and down and look busy. Most of veteran players have left and few last ones wait the miracle that devs will turn the game back to run on old play rules what game had on its golden times.
907 hours played .hadnt played for a year logged on and every singel thing i had made over 9 hundred hours had gone
Well, I there isn't enough words, the recent update basically needs you to quit your job and just watch boat sail to "trade" for hours on end.. shame because it wasn't in an ideal situation before this but today 10th August rest in pepperonis
